Divyanka Tripathi is back in a new avatar. She plays Mrs Sharma in SAB's upcoming serial Mr & Mrs Sharma Allahabadwale that starts on May 17.
TOI chatted with the actress who made her TV debut in the hit show Banoo main teri Dulhann, but has been missing from the scene after the show ended...
So you are back on TV with Mr & Mrs Sharma Allahabadwale...
It's a comedy show and I'm very nervous. That's only natural because I'm doing comedy for the first time. But, I'm equally excited.
Your co-star Rajesh Kumar is a veteran at comedy...
He's very good at it. It's been nice working together and he makes me feel comfortable. We always talk about this that he's good at comedy and I'm good at romance, so we can help each other because in our show there is comedy and also some cute romance.
You were missing from the scene for quite a while after you first show wrapped up...
I did get offers, but they were very similar to my character in Banoo Main Teri Dulhann. I was clear that I didn't want to do the same thing again. I didn't want to get repetitive. So when I was offered Mr & Mrs Sharma, I was happy to take it up.
And, reality shows?
I haven't done reality shows because I don't see too much growth in a reality show because it's just for a short span of time, while in a serial one can grow as an artiste. I'm always looking to learn and grow as a person and a professional.
TV actors, they say, have a short shelf-life. Doesn't the insecurity in your profession worry you?
If that had worried me I would have taken up any and everything that came my way. I too have my EMIs to pay, but I'm clear that I will never compromise on creativity. I want to learn new things all the time. And going by my interest to learn, I'm sure getting work will never be a problem.
I love my work and the response i get from the audiences. Like right now it makes me very happy when people recognise me as Mrs Sharma after watching the promos of the show.
In real life, when do you plan to become Mrs...?
I'm too dedicated to work to think of marriage right now. Likewise when I'm getting married, I would want to give it my all. I wouldn't want to be busy with work then.
