Imagine tv programming heads do not believe in soaps with finite storylines. In a statement issued today they said they had found consumers wanted their favourite soaps to run a minimum of 3 to 4 yrs. When there is this need in consumers why not fulfill this need, they asked..When these characters enter peoples homes for months they become part of their everyday lives & existence.outdoor life in india is limited..there is a huge demand for these unending storylines why not cater to it? Please remember a soap is not a three hour film and do not expect the story writers to treat it as such. Yes imagine recently put four soaps kashi jamunia pkcm & dhkj off air. They say please remember soaps are under constant pressure of ratings. So what can we do, there was no demand of these soaps. But our longest running one BANDINI from the balaji stable is the bread & butter of imagine channel. Many overseas subscribers even opted for imagine just to watch BANDINI. This has lead to large foreign exchange revenues for our channel. Why should we keep stories finite when people want to watch forever. It would make no sense at all. Imagine has decided to keep reality programming only on weekends and not disturb our daily soap schedule. Ups and downs in soap ratings are common..that is so with every channel. But keeping audience demands in mind imagine has opted to give more importance to daily soaps than reality tv.
