I think we should add the character of Bheeshma to the list too.

Since I have not seen him in his other serials all I can say here is that I am really enjoying seeing him portray the character of DM. A very powerful actor indeed!

I must agree with the Critical One about the point of Ronit Sir's portrayal of Bheeshma 👍🏼
Although KHMK didn't work wonders, it was awesome for Ronit Sir! I've seen 3 Mahabharat productions until now, and the personality that Ronit Sir gave Bheeshma has been the only on that has been faithful to the book 👏👏👏 Previous portrayals all had Bheeshma as a ranting Kshtriya that was constantly fuming and irritated - the tone of voice was aggessive/irritated 90% of the time... and those that have read the book, they'll know that Bheeshma was nothing like that! 😳 Bheeshma's personality was comparable to that of a divine Brahmin/Saint... he had no ego, despite his invincibility!
Anyways, back to Bandini now! 😆
The thing that I like about Dharamraaj Mahiyavanshi is that there is a complex mix of shades to the character... there is nothing one dimentional about him.
His ruthlessness and berehemi was established early on... but there have also been scenes to show him to be very fair also (eg. the canteen scene where he eats the same food that the workers eat).
The scenes where he is talking to his deceased wife's photos, they also show the caring side to DM.
And the great thing is that whether DM is being ruthless, caring, or delivering a fair verdict, Ronit Sir makes the character look totally convincing and totally natural!
That's why in all honesty, when it comes to acting, I truly think Ronit Sir is the best of the best. Balaji Telefilms has some fantastic actors like Mr Shabbir Alhuwalia, Mr Hiten Tejwani, and others... but I think that Ronit Sir is the best by far!
God bless.

Guddi
He is na?? Pure MAGIC- u said it all....the key word here is magic. Like a magician he makes himself disappear and someone else emerges, now that is pure and rare talent!!! AND its about time that the Indian tv industry appreciate the talents, contributions of someone like Mr. Ronit Bose Roy.

What a year to begin 2009 with, a brand new show and Ronitbhai in a brand new avatar.

Absolutely, thnxs Hema

U r absolutely correct about Bheeshma.
AS DM the malik, his presence is making us glued to the screen. He is a very charismatic actor, and charisma is not taught in any school, ppl are born with it. Also, it shows in all his performances that he really appreciates this artform has respect for it, and one of the most admirable qualities he projects is that he goes far and beyond to do the best possible job he can for his audience and himself.

Now that I think back Ronit Roy was also there in the Zee TV serial Sarkaar in which he played the character of Kunal Veer Pratap. The theme of the serial was political and he played the older of 2 brothers. His real life brother Rohit Roy played the role of the younger brother Karan Veer Pratap.

Hema,
yes, I remember saarkar now, I watched some episodes with him in them. That was a good serial on ZEE.

@MBhai
I love that scene he is talking to his dead wife's portrait, Subhadra, that was so natural and did show DRM's other side.
Absolutely, I agree Malik is a multishaded character. AND He is a distinct, capable actor on indian TV who is able to pull off those complex characters very well. Its about time to celebrate real talent, and he has it.

Sukhi
I need to see him in this producer role. Yes, he does not disappoint his adoring fans in all he does.
I noticed that about him, he has that artistic sensibility, not just acting for acting's sake you know, but acting for the artform as well. He is one of the last breeds of that type of sensibility around on Indian TV, he reminds me of the ones that go on to become classics, actors like Marlon Brando, Cary Grant, Newman, or even Mqueen -he falls in those leagues.

@Mru
He is fantabulous!!! And Mindblowing!! Couldn't agree more. I love the way he stands as DRM, even a small still movement like that in a shot can convey so much confidence and persona of an actor.
He is truly a gem for Balaji and Indian TV.

If I remember correctly, RR also played a cameo role in a sit-com that came on Zee a few years ago, starring his brother Rohit, Rakhi Vijan and Nikki Aneja (Dr. Simran from Astitva)!

It was based on the American Sit-com, Three's Company, where Rohit, Rakhi and Nikki are flatmates and Ronit is their flirtatious, hunky neighbour on whom both the girls have a crush...something on the lines! He came in a couple of episodes!
Does anyone remember this show?

On another note, Aperture, that was a very nice post by you! I have never watched any show starring Ronit Roy before, hence for that reason itself, I don't have much to add here. But I have been watching Bandini for the last 3 weeks and to say that I am impressed by his acting prowress and his personality would be merely an understatement.
The guy is talented with a capital T and has an awesome screen presence! Bandini is one of the best shows to come out in a long time and its appeal is mostly due to Ronit's overpowering presence and the touch of class, charisma and larger than life appeal that he gives to his Dharamraj Mahiyavanshi!
Hope to see much more of him in coming times!
