I am honestly curious to see if there's a pattern here with Gauri fans and Anandi fans. This thread is not meant as a basis to make comments about people being "immature" or being "outdated/ really traditional". I really want to see how different people of different ages interpret these two characters and if life experiences have molded our opinion about these characters.

Feel free to to say why you like the character you do, but to keep this from turning into a battle, let's not criticize the characters we don't like.

😊

Make it different countries as well 😊 Greetings from Serbia, where BV is one of most popular TV series at the moment. As far as I know from local forums and polls, all here are Anandi's fans, also ladies between 15 and 75, though I was surprised to know how many men also watch it.😃 . Currently around 1.5 million viewers, which is 👏 for a 10 mil people country.

Very interesting poll. I think 20-29 is a very ambiguous category because people, especially women, in their early 20s seem to be very different from women in their late 20s, who come very close to women in their 30s. Early 20s is much closer to the late teens---at least that's what I have seen in my experience 😊

Also I guess the opinions might also depend on other categories of viewers like---married vs unmarried, urban vs rural, men vs women. We all try to assess the fictional characters through our own characters and surroundings, and according to our own moral compass. Hence the difference in opinion.😛

I think most married women would vote for Anandi... as no lady would vote for a husband snatcher hehe...

@milumee...

That would be a good poll as well! I'm watching from the US, so it would be interesting to see where BV is popular 😊

@woman11

Yeah I debated the ambiguity of 20-29...after I posted the poll, so I couldn't change it. I was trying to categorize between teenager, young adult, and adult. Urban vs rural and married vs unmarried would be very interesting polls as well.

@AshBendre

Agreed, haha.

@ambodidi

I was trying to categorize between teenager, young adult, and adult (hence the over 30 part). But I know what you mean 😊

Thanks everyone!

Nice post – Poll Starter

I am married and live outside India, but have been born and brought up in India, and currently living a mix of Indo –Western lifestyle. Still very much towards Indian tradition.

I am not a fan of either of these personalities simply because the way I have seen my life and my surroundings, both these females are at extreme end. I find Anandi too submissive, and Gauri to be an extremely intolerant and impatient patient. If I was to choose between the two, I would choose Anandi over Gauri any day, because of who she is. Her simplicity, respect and care of others and her set of values /principles is what I appreciate.

However, I would love to see the respectful and kind hearted A to be able to stand for herself, whenever she is humiliated by any Tom Dick & Harry. A little bit of strength to talk back is all I want to see in A.

As for G – I am personally not in favour of live-in relationships and illegitimate relations. Although I see a lot of those around me, I don't encourage it, so that's already point down on G and to add on, her scheming nature, screaming habits, and blame game – all for wrong reasons, can never make me her fan. I totally feel its her mistake for the way her life is at this stage. I would love to see G use her strength in the right fashion and in right direction and teach J a lesson, but that may be too much to hope.

On the other hand if J-G marriage was done the right way, by consulting everyone and giving A her alimony rights etc. and still if G didn't get accepted in Singh Parivaar, I would support G instead.
