hi tanvi,

Going to the hostel for the first time might be scary but you will overcome it soon...Don't worry about BV, hostel life is so interesting that u will not even want to watch BV...I can guarantee you that... I am actually a designer and I studied in a very good college...I was in hostel and it worked for me well becoz for all the 2 years I spent there we had to slog a lot...We used to work 16 to 18 hours a day most of the time...Assignment were very important and drawing cannot be time bound. But being in hostel helped, becoz everyone used to work hard, so I used to not feel alone. But whenever we got free time we partied hard too in our own way.

When u are hostel you learn to keep money properly, ur things and learn to be organized... We do get a lot of freedom, but we need to use it properly or it will show in our semester results. raggings were common, we used to have midnight sessions too. But I have noticed that people who act too smart and people who are too scared get picked a lot...The normal boring ones like me were never in much trouble...But yeds nowadays ragging is banned...

My suggestion is never go with high tech products like laptop initially unless it is mentioned mandatory in ur curiculum. first go to hostel, understand ur surroundings, people and the security there before taking such things there...You may start getting people who may ask ur laptop to watch a movie or something else and when u r a fresher u cannot even say no to them... just understand the place...My advice is stop worrying about BV. Hostel life is one of the golden times in ur life and don't waste it...You may find that when u r hostel it is not a very cool thing among even girls to watch daily soaps...i can guarantee you that u will not miss BV. see if every other person in your hostel has laptop then no issues ottherwise if you have laptop with net connection then you will have many people asking it for 2 minutes to check mails and facebook.

Even we had to submit all our work as printouts. So in the final semester, myself and my roomate hired a comp to do work. We had no internet and for browsing we used college labs or internet cafe and took datas in floppy ( now we have pen drives na)...but yes our juniors were very hep and most of them had laptops...well many were rich they even got their room painted and got expensive curtains and all...so everything depends on ur surroundings

what i have written may sound funny and silly.but all these things matters a lot at that stage...every thing is money honey and you will end up spending too much if u r not very careful...

Vasu and tanvi we had TV room in Girls hostel near mess but only repeaters 😉 😆 we used to find there. I never watched TV in that 3yrs of my hostel life. I admitted directly in 2nd yr engg in college. For One yr I was in hostel then Me and my friends shifted in city and lived as Paying guest in rooms in bungalows. Recalling those days is just WOW !! We will surely miss ur attendance😛 in BV forum if u will not hv any source then to watch it and to come here. ALL THE BEST and GOD BLESS YOU
Prepare ur mind. Don't worry Ragging is banned now.

Agree with u pranjal...I hardly watched TV too...We were loaded with work and when he had time we watched movies in theatres, went out to malls or enjoyed chatting. We used to listen to music a lot...We did not watch tv, and even if we watched it was never serials, it was just some movies...but the tv room was crowded and we really did not bother to watch standing.

But well time just flies being with friends and being in girl's hostel their is no room to get bored...endless gossips, bitching does go on...why look for other entertainment

I have studied from Rajasthan so I can relate to the BV enviroment 😉
We didnt have any ragging in college...the rules were quite strict and besides our seniors were hardly intrested. Our hostels were also separate so there was no ragging in hostels also.College exp was lovely...those were the best days.N dont worry u'll hardly get time to watch TV even if u do u'll be more intrested in hanging out with frns rather than watching TV.
Our college campus was on the outskirts of the city near some villages...I have seen actual child marriages happening there...During akhaa teej I have seen bulk child marriages of kids as young as 10 years old.
Child marriage is so much culturely imbibed in the society tht it'll take generations to completely remove it.
Govt should target the younger generation and educate them abt the effects of child marriages.Adults are too stubborn and violent to understand...If the younger generation is aware atleast they wont get their kids married in childhood.
