I am so frustrated with the current tracks, that I watched the reunion arc of Ram, Priya and Pihu in BALH1 and God, that season was another level! It was so so beautiful, considering that it was 10 years back and yet, so ahead of its time. Sharing my bits about what all is wrong about this season and the leap :

1. BALH1 was all about two mature adults who were in an arranged marriage setup and they explored love in their own way. To be honest, they actually showed in Season 1 what an arrange marriage is all about. They started off slowly, developed their friendship, communicated with each other, trusted each other, made fun of each other, went on a proper honeymoon, had friends and family who loved them except a couple of villains and to be honest Priya became pregnant when there relationship had reached a certain level. Priya took Ram's blame and went to jail for him, but that was pretty evident to everyone that she actually took the blame.

Now coming to Season 2, Ram and Priya never even had a proper conversation to start with, except for a couple of occasions that too when they were high mostly! We actually fell in love with them because Nakuul and Disha were so good, not because they were couple goals! They never actually became good friends to be very honest. We weren't shown any honeymoon let alone anytime when there were just the two of them without any drama. The whole falling in love part felt rushed to me when they neither can trust each other nor can share things with each other. Trust and communication are the pillars of any successful relationship. Love alone is never enough! To top it off, except for a couple of characters, almost each character was a villain in some way! Even the positive characters were so stupid, they were more of a villain in Ram and Priya's life. With so villains around, I don't think any marriage can survive. They simply had nobody they could trust and not be cheated by them! This is not the mature arrange marriage setup that anyone could imagine!

2. Season 1 had its own share of villains, but Ram and Priya were always together against them. We were always shown that ultimately the villains were defeated. But here? Looks like the villains keep on adding but never get revealed. Leads trust the villains more than each other always!! Kaisa pyaar hai bhai.

Vedika : Everyone clearly knew what she did and ultimately she did a drama in front of Ram and she was taken care of!

Shashi : Killed Ram's father for God's sake but it was never revealed. To top it off, he just told Ram he was innocent and Ram simply believed it. Bonus points, he also got all his debts cleared by Ram, Bhai waah!!

Nandini : Yeh toh bechaari Maa hi bnegi rhegi, the kind of enigma she is, I really doubt how will she be exposed unless she accepts it herself and somehow everyone sees it!

Shubhu : Sab maaf hai iska toh!!

Mahendra Sood : Chalo ultimately jail gaya, but what about the time when he tried to kill Ram? Kuch nhi he was forgiven just like that.

Natasha from S1 was shown as the villain initially, but look how her character developed eventually. Do we have anyone here who started off as a villain but turned good? Ulta, we have mothers like Meera Ma and sisters like Sara who hardly bother about their own family. Not considering the Kapoors here, because atleast they are Sautela!

3. The thing that I loved the most about Season 1 was how positive and in love Priya was with Ram. She always felt guilty of separating them and finally when she knew they shared a bond, she couldn't take it anymore and was ready to reveal it to Ram. Even during the custody drama, she never kept Pihu away from Ram because she was guilty that she kept them away for 5 years and did not want to keep them apart any longer. Her love for Ram overpowered the fear of losing her daughter! That was Season 1's Priya.

Now what about this season? This Priya never had an ounce of guilt that she separated Ram from her daughter when she knew all the guy wanted was to be a cool father, when she knew how alone he actually was with no one to call him his own! To top it off, she broke his trust by this infidelity stupidity! She failed to realize how a happy go lucky man who was always jolly, who loved rain, who loved food, who loved life has suddenly changed into this rude person who is being called as Khadoos by his own daughter? Haven't she realized the trauma that was caused to him, even after him taunting her so many times that she left her? Can she imagine goofy Ram Kapoor as Mr. Khadoos?

Her efforts to develop a friendship between this father, daughter duo seems just useless. She just talks as if the daughter is only hers. My Pihu, maine use bht mushkil se paala, woh mera world hai, main uski! Matlab seriously, this makes me feel as if Ram left Priya when it was the other way around. Doesn't seem like she loves Ram, because love is always about keeping the person you love above you!

Also, she keeps roaming telling everyone about her mahanta that how she tied Pihu's stomach when she wasn't able to feed her; To be honest, she simply denied her daughter the ideal life that she could have deserved. This season's Priya is selfish to say the least.

4. In S1, The father daughter bond between Pihu and her Golu uncle was so so beautiful, Ram could sense from miles apart when her Pihu wasn't well. Here, how they have portrayed their bond? They started off with fights; the writers seem to forget that this was not Ram and Priya they were showing, but a father and his 4 year old daughter. Ram was denied her daughter's love, let alone respect. Nok jhok is fine, but what they showed between Ram and Pihu wasn't endearing at all. To top it off, Priya doesn't even keep a check on her daughter to respect her father, she looks delusional to me most of the times! S2's Ram's character was much more endearing that S1, this Ram loves everyone with all his heart. Imagine if they showed that bond between him and Pihu, but nahi they just ruined his character for the plot's sake. Mishandling a 4 year old and that 4 year old saying hurtful things to him, Wow writers! S1's Pihu was portrayed as such a cute child, she actually behaved like a child. In one of the scenes, I saw that she was actually smiling when Priya was crying, such was the innocence of that character. No offense to the lovely Aarohi, she's damn cute, but I wish the writers have made Pihu act her own age rather than saying hurtful words like Channtt, rude, mean.

This season had so much potential than the previous season. The characters were so realistic and beautifully written, Thanks to the writers for butchering this season beyond redemption. Really hate them for ruining this show which would have become so much more! They definitely failed to create the magic that was S1.

I haven't watched season one. So won't compare the two as of now. But i don't have much problem with the show before they started Ram papa ka death track. Then i only had problem with the show

@blue - Totally agree with Blue. Meri beti, Meri Pihu she keeps saying that 🤣. Also when Ram told her, he would always takes his responsibility seriously. She was like Pihu and me are just a job for you. While Pihu is my life. Come on Priya, you did seperate the two in the first place 🤪

Now acting offended when Ram doesn't say Pihu is his life too.

Haan. I agree, there is inconsistency in that part. Cause they wanna make her a self-righteous woman- that’s okay if that’s her character- but one’s gotta show both the sides- the positives and negatives to being like that. Sometimes emotional, sometimes guilty, sometimes protective- all of this is good if the character motive is explained thoroughly. But, with ITV, the people on the forums need to be explain their motives for the show to seem consistent.

One example where the meri Pihu dialogue could work- they go deeper into Priya’s struggles and show a breakdown- cause we’ve seen Ram hurt, not Priya- which is not believable frankly. Something like she reaches a point with all the blackmail and her hardships- that she breaks down- saying something like, Ram, you can’t even see my truth in my eyes- what kind of a husband you are? She expresses that even if she lied, how did he believe it? Was their relationship so fragile? She wants him to raise Pihu but doesn’t trust him when it comes to his family. So, that could be her thought process for being possessive with the meri Pihu thing.

And then Ram could rebut and give her a reality check- was raising her in the Kapoor mansion really worse than making her fatherless at such a young age? And then finish with- you are the Mahendra Sood in Pihu’s life. You’re stubbornness and I can handle everything myself attitude is ruining everything. Now, I wish you actually cheated on me with Krish, at least then I would be in peace cause I wouldn’t be an absent father. Probably then have Priya steam off with anger, but later take time to question things.

It’s important to realise that subconsciously how one is raised determines how one raises their children. So, did her broken relationship with her mom and dad, make her take decisions that were harmful. Probably then the root cause of all this is her bitter relationship with her parents and Ram parents. Then, they could discuss this out and talk and bond over failed parenting. Probably Ram saying that he’s always wanted to become a dad. And a guilty Priya apologising and then Ram talking about starting over.

Things definitely could be more maturely handled especially cause parenting is a tricky subject. Raya actually need to talk more- they barely have serious conversations without being drunk is 100% true. On point.

(and yep, one’s really gotta skip all the double meaning dialogues, like the responsibility=job could’ve been better handled, plus I still don’t mind using job- being someone’s job is not negative- a job is a commitment as well- that scene is incomplete in my view. Instead, Priya could’ve generally commented on Ram’s obsessions with responsibilities- why should it be only his responsibility? Reminding herself that Ram is seriously lonely- he always takes the onus to protect every one, but no one is there to protect him. Then, thank him and say- if protection is your responsibility, making sure that this deal goes through is mine- what a dil ki dhadhkan moment, hire us BALH)

lol, I just kept writing, I’ll stop now.

100 percent agree with you. This Priya and this season is so boring. I have not seen this kind of kid ever. There is no trust and too many lies and I just hate Krish and so many other characters. Dadi and even the negative characters were much more interesting, here Priya is too selfish. I do not even understand the meaning of the Precap now.

Yeah that season was all about communication. How husband and wife trusted each other against all odds. This season there isn't any communication at all. I mean they don't have much Flashback scenes of Raya to show post leap, kyuki kuch hua hi nahi 🤣
