I actually kind of like the drama going on around the wedding. Other shows have bride/groom swaps, kidnapping drama from the mandap, forced marriage in the mandir to get the ratings. Here we all know that the marriage will take place. The show already comes with the baggage of a hugely successful S1, the channel's dipping rating of fictional shows, at an early slot due to EK's shows on other channels, IPL season and strong competition from no 2 show in the chart. So most of the shows need extra drama for gaining a minimum trp on sony coz if it dips once, there's rarely a chancr to increase. To tell the story without much change, a certain trp is required.

I don’t know why this hullabaloo around but I really loved the way the marriage sequence happened. I just hope it’s not the same crazy IB audience which ruined story progression of IB too. Them saying the marriage track is dragging is pure bullshit. I think we are really getting some good scenes and story progression in the show. For heaven’s sake, stop comparing! This much drama is bearable in a show like this. At least the reactions of characters appear genuine unlike the high TRP crappers.

And what I like the most about this marriage is the consent of the bride and groom. They know the entire scenario and whatever the reasons, they still give their consents to this marriage. The story anyway moved too fast for a daily soap, so it's okay if drama happens around the wedding day.

Problem is not the drama going on, ofcourse drama is necessary for trp.. but the kind of drama that was being shown, felt quite pointless. Also they were exceuted badly. I for one didn't like the ram-sita-hanuman parallels being drawn. ALso the drama felt too draggy.. i mean something was off with the writing probably hence atleast for me it was boring instead of keeping me on toes about "whats gonna happen now?", which well-done drama actually achieves. So, it felt off and a lot of things didn't make much sense (like no guests being present in the wedding, Ram eating the prawn noodles without once doubting that it was prawn and not paneer, Mahendra sood being entertained again by soods , etc) .

Ofcourse story wise this is better than ridiculous bride swapping and all, but talking purely about drama quotient, it felt very vanilla and boring, which may actually turn the viewers off rather than keeping them hooked.

The problem is with the writing and execution, not the actual story (which is good and more realistic than bride swap drama or forced marriage drama)

And when we already know that Ram and Priya are going to get married, this much dragging of drama was unncessary imo.. what was the point of it when we already know the result? Most tv serials have drama to actually build tension and a factor of curiosity... but here there was no curiosity..we all knew what the end is gonna be.. so most people were like Get done with it now . If they are doing this solely for trp then IMO there could have been a better way to handle it. Thts all i will say

Are you talking about me by any chance?😆 I think there's hardly any IB fans here.. and I for one didn't like IB at all even though I watched it. I hated the forced marriage it was such a turnoff. And I don't think people who actually loved IB will like this show much. There was one IB fan who made a post here a few weeks back comparing SSO and Ram.. and not liking Ram's character here. The thread was closed too coz no one agreed with her 😆. So idk which fans are you talking about who are comparing balh2 with IB?

No no, please dont get me wrong. I’m only referring to those over excited fans of IB and Narbhi who created issue out of everything in their storyline and ruined the show. Frankly I’m a big IB, Obros, Shivika and Narbhi fan myself but yes SSO’s character was flawed big time but somehow the writers managed to give a good character graph to him, Shivika and Obros. Also I feel Nakul did full justice to the role. And so is he doing here in BALH2. It’s obvio that Ram’s character is much better than SSO. Just hope writers do justice with this amazing cast.

Lol.. okay😆 IB fandom was actually really crazy. I don't wanna be associated with that fandom😂 I am a Nakuul fan buss. I liked NaRbhi and they had great chemistry but I don't really ship them together tbh 😅 I actually prefer NaSha..

Nakuul did as much as he could with what was written for him. SSO was really really flawed and I can never forgive him for the way he married Anika (blowing off the car making her think her brother Sahil was in it and threatening her in an inhuman way) . Anyways, I love Ram and yes he is million times better 😆I am glad Naks chose this role lol he is so super cute as Ram!

I think I agree with most of the points above. I too like drama if it is well done.

I want to add on as why I thought all the drama was pointless and fell flat

- Mahendar Sood: Phuski bomb. oh man, such huge huge drama potential. I know they put in a few flashbacks and the scene with Priya and her mom- but still didn't feel very emotionally vindicating. Priya just meekly accepted her father doing her Kanyadaan 🤷‍♀️ I didn't quiet feel anything about this track- it was all so meh

- Shubham drama: missed opportunity 1.This I felt could have been so much more. Not in terms of dhoom tanananas. They could have completely bypassed Hanumanji(s) 🤪 And had a proper verbal spat between Priya and Ram- each putting forth their opinions and standing their ground. It would have given everyone a better insight on both parties, and the drama would be sensible and realistic.

- Prawn drama: missed opportunity 2. I am slightly miffed that Ram didn't collapse in front of a larger audience. I think it could have packed a punch, if combimed with the Shubham issue- their debate on right-wrong escalates, Ram collapses and Priya has a first hand view of Ram's fraility(not as a weekness, but as the real picture behind the smiles and the poor jokes)

- Neeraj video: beating a dead horse. Priya's past has been established. Ram's opinion on the matter has been established. This entire sequence was pointless. This was the straw that broke Nandini's back, really They could have just shown her slowly building up to wanting to stop the marriage.

This sequence would have atleast made sense much later, when Ram had started liking Priya, and this video had the power to break his heart 🤷‍♀️

- Vedu: Another missed opportunity? I don't know, I think Vedu being there in person could have also been good drama. It is not about Ram moping or pining, but it could have been a powerful moment where Ram is moving forward in life(whether by choice or not) in front of his long time fixation.

I know this looks nitpicky- but this standard has been setup by Ekta Kapoor herself 🤣 She does drama best, and some of her earlier, more famous serials actually utilize some of the very same plot points to give decently satisfying drama.

At no point was I very emotionally vested. I found most parts amusing rather than good. And because the drama fall flat and adds no emotional value, or does not move the story forward, I just rather wished that the marriage would be over and done with.

You have put forward your views amazingly well 👏 These are the exact reasons why all that drama couldn't leave an "impact".

@bold Yes, that's where they failed! We indian audience are very much used to drama , so that isn't the issue at all , the issue is that we have seen quite a number of well-done impactful drama that keeps the audience hooked, whereas the one in BALH2 just felt flat at evry point. They couldn't do justice to any one of the numerous dramas properly. Hence we all wanted it to finish quickly and move on to the next track.
