I think I agree with most of the points above. I too like drama if it is well done.
I want to add on as why I thought all the drama was pointless and fell flat
- Mahendar Sood: Phuski bomb. oh man, such huge huge drama potential. I know they put in a few flashbacks and the scene with Priya and her mom- but still didn't feel very emotionally vindicating. Priya just meekly accepted her father doing her Kanyadaan 🤷♀️ I didn't quiet feel anything about this track- it was all so meh
- Shubham drama: missed opportunity 1.This I felt could have been so much more. Not in terms of dhoom tanananas. They could have completely bypassed Hanumanji(s) 🤪 And had a proper verbal spat between Priya and Ram- each putting forth their opinions and standing their ground. It would have given everyone a better insight on both parties, and the drama would be sensible and realistic.
- Prawn drama: missed opportunity 2. I am slightly miffed that Ram didn't collapse in front of a larger audience. I think it could have packed a punch, if combimed with the Shubham issue- their debate on right-wrong escalates, Ram collapses and Priya has a first hand view of Ram's fraility(not as a weekness, but as the real picture behind the smiles and the poor jokes)
- Neeraj video: beating a dead horse. Priya's past has been established. Ram's opinion on the matter has been established. This entire sequence was pointless. This was the straw that broke Nandini's back, really They could have just shown her slowly building up to wanting to stop the marriage.
This sequence would have atleast made sense much later, when Ram had started liking Priya, and this video had the power to break his heart 🤷♀️
- Vedu: Another missed opportunity? I don't know, I think Vedu being there in person could have also been good drama. It is not about Ram moping or pining, but it could have been a powerful moment where Ram is moving forward in life(whether by choice or not) in front of his long time fixation.
I know this looks nitpicky- but this standard has been setup by Ekta Kapoor herself 🤣 She does drama best, and some of her earlier, more famous serials actually utilize some of the very same plot points to give decently satisfying drama.
At no point was I very emotionally vested. I found most parts amusing rather than good. And because the drama fall flat and adds no emotional value, or does not move the story forward, I just rather wished that the marriage would be over and done with.
