Fenil Umrigar, the new Pihu on Bade Achhe Lagte Hain talks about her role, working with Ram Kapoor and much more...
Popular show on Sony TV, Bade Achhe Lagte Hain, has yet again taken a seven years' leap and actress Fenil Umrigar will now be seen essaying the role of the grown-up Pihu in the serial. The role was first played by five year-old Amruta Mukherjee and later by 16-year-old Aanchal Munjal, after the show took a nine-years leap.
Fenil, who was last seen in Best Friends Forever, sounds excited on bagging the role. She says, "I was called for auditions after the casting director of Balaji saw my profile on Facebook, but it was not for Bade Achhe Lagte Hain. Things didn't work out there and they approached me for Bade... and I wasn't sure if it was for Suhani or Pihu's role. When Ekta ma'm was shown my BFF clips, she liked it and wanted me for Pihu. So the day I signed my contract, I also started shooting for the show."
Fenil isn't bothered with expectations from the audience and says that it's all but expected, considering Pihu was one of the most loved characters on TV. "I am working very hard and I will make Pihu's character even more memorable. The characters will be different because she won't have the same innocence. Pihu is like any ordinary girl who will face problems, take her own decisions, make mistakes and later learn from them," she adds.
Bade... has seen some major drama in the last few weeks. While Priya goes into coma after she discovers that her daughter Pihu has been lying to her, Ram Kapoor is left with the responsibility of looking after his three daughters. Pihu is also shown to be developing grey shades. Does it mean that the focus of the show will now move from Ram and Priya's love story to the grown -up Pihu? "I was not a regular viewer of the show, but whatever sketch I was given, I knew how the character would develop. She will be shown to be arrogant, stubborn, rude and selfish, though the story will even now be about Ram and Priya. It will also show Pihu and her strong bonding with her parents and sisters."
Fenil is most excited about sharing screen space with Ram Kapoor and Sakshi Tanwar. The actress says that she hasn't shot too many scenes with Sakshi. "I have shot few scenes with Ram sir and I was so nervous on the first day. But he was very nice and said You are good and can do better. Welcome to the Bade... family and I am sure you will do justice to Pihu's character.' He brings in a lot of positivity on the set," she signs off. The audience verdict is now awaited.
