Chahat Khanna ties the knot with Farhan Mirza, to have three ceremonies in a day
Weddings are a big deal in India, and Chahat Khanna will have three ceremonies on her big day, which takes place tomorrow. The TV actor, better known as Ayesha from Bade Achhe Lagte Hain (BALH), marries businessman Farhan Mirza.
A thrilled Chahat says, "The mehendi and sangeet will take place today. Tomorrow, the nikaah is at 10.30 am and pheras are in the evening followed by a reception." But she's excited to include a Christian wedding ceremony in the entire affair as well. "Though we won't take vows, I will wear a white gown, exchange rings and cut a three-tier wedding cake."
The bride-to-be says she's going all out with her outfits as well. "For the mehendi, I'll wear a lovely yellow coloured ghagra-choli designed by my stylist. My to-be mother-in-law has given me a pink ghagra, which I will wear during the nikaah. It has a red dupatta, which is a family heirloom. For the pheras, it's a red and green ghagra-choli and for the reception, a white wedding gown. But I will have chudas on too."
This is Chahat's second marriage. She says, "I think highly of Farhan, which is why we decided to get married within three months of knowing each other." Taking a decision to remarry was difficult for her. She says, "It's not easy. If a marriage breaks down, everyone knows about it. If a relationship doesn't work out, no one finds out. I could have lived in and not told people anything, but I don't want to cheat myself. Everyone wants their marriage to work out, but the times are such that divorces are in vogue. There are cases where people have married for the fourth or fifth time."
Post marriage, the actor will not be seen in BALH. She says, "I left because even though the role gave me great publicity, it didn't have much for me to do, except make people hate me."
