Safe in the Arms of the One I Love

Dear Friends,

Last Saturday I wrote my first OS: "Calming the Sherni" and was so excited when I saw glimpses of my writing in the show on Monday. That has inspired me to come up with another really short OS:"Safe in the arms of the one I love". Will I be lucky a second time? Was it just beginners luck? Only Monday's episode can tell, but there is no harm in dreaming right? Just as my motto in life reads: There is nothing wrong in building castles in the air, 'cos "Every castle built on land was once a castle in the air."

Safe in the arms of the one I love

Ram and Priya are very excited and happy that finally Vikram and Neha were back together and Ram's chest swelled up with pride for having achieved this task along with Priya. Both Priya and Ram were overwhelmed to see how much in love their friends were.

Vikram: Neha, there is no problem that we cannot tackle together, so please don't ever think of leaving me. I love you so much that even thinking of being away from you hurts.

Neha: I am sorry for the whole mess Vikram. I love you too and the past couple of months away from you were the worst ever in my life. Please don't ever leave me.

Priya is watching their best friends hug, with tears flowing down her cheeks incessantly. She remembers some of the lovely moments they had together. Suddenly the smile on her face fades as she begins to think of all the promises Ram and she had made to each other and sighs thinking about their current state. What a mess we have made of our lives?

Ram is looking at Priya through the tears in his eyes and saying to himself: I don't know how to say this to you Priya, I cannot live without you. Let's get back together and sort out all our problems. We belong with each other and I want us to set things right.

Priya senses that Ram is looking at her and turns to look at him. They have an eye lock and Ram opens out his arms and nods to Priya. Without any hesitation she just glided into those arms only to be buried in his chest with her ear to his heart to find solace in the heartbeat. She couldn't stop the tears from flowing and began to sob. She felt the dam burst inside her and all her pain and sorrow seem to flow out with the tears. Time seemed to stand still and she couldn't stop herself and when Ram put his hand possessively over her hair, she could feel the sense of belonging to him. Slowly she realized that things were so different now and didn't know if she did the right thing by expressing her feelings so openly to Ram. She broke out of the hug and was about to turn away.

Ram held on to her hand: Priya, I want to tell you something.

Priya lifts her head and looks into his eyes. Just then his telephone rings and he sees it is from Shankar, the driver who picks up the children from school, so he takes the call. This is when Shankar informs him that Peehu left by bus to go to Priya's home. Ram is too stunned to talk. He stutters and stammers and words are not coming out of his mouth. Priya, Vikram and Neha notice this and shake him.

Priya: Mr. Kapoor, who was that? What is the matter?

Vikram: Ram, what happened yaar? Tell me.

Ram: Thhaaat was Shhhankar. And slowly he told them what he just heard.

Priya is shocked: What? How could that be? I don't believe this. Do you know what that means? Oh my God, please take care of Peehu and help her reach home safely. God, please take care of my baby wherever she is. Ram we must leave immediately.

Vikram pats Ram on his back: Don't worry, Ram. Everything will be fine. Go to the police station just now and lodge a complaint. Give them a picture of Peehu and tell them to alert all the police stations and send out a search party. Neha and I will drive around and look for her. I think you should call Sudhir uncle and inform him as well and lay low. We don't want people to be aware that Ram Kapoor's daughter is lost on the streets looking for her mother. You just don't worry, everything will be fine. I will also call the Commissioner and tell him to speak to his force.

Neha: Peehu is a very smart girl Priya, so please don't worry. She will be fine. Priya stay strong because I know Fatty also needs your help.

Ram is sweating profusely and is too shocked to move. Priya takes him by the hand and they leave for the police station where they lodge a complaint.

Priya breaks down in front of the inspector: Please help us find our daughter, Sir! We cannot live without her.

The inspector takes the details of Peehu and a couple of pictures from them and says he will do the needful. They leave the police station and are driving towards Priya's apartment looking on either side of the road hoping to spot their little Princess. They reach home and a worried Sudhir and Shipra meet them downstairs anxiously looking at their faces to see if they have good news about Peehu. When they see the sad tear-stained faces of both Priya and Ram, their heads drop.

Shipra walks up to Priya and takes her in her arms like a mother trying to protect her baby: Have faith in God Priya. She says, gently stroking her hair, Beta, you have always done good making everyone else your priority, even though it meant hurting yourself. I am sure she will be found real soon. Please don't worry Beta. She kisses Priya on her forehead and takes her upstairs.

Ram and Priya walk into her apartment and she breaks down. She goes into her room and looks at the big picture of her and Peehu and weeps. Ram walks in behind her and tries to hold her, but she breaks free from him and sits on her bed and stares at the picture.

Priya sobbing like a little child herself: Bachcha, where are you? Please don't be angry with Mamma, I love you baby. Please come back home. I cannot live without you my little princess. I promise I will never leave you, this time I mean it baby, please come back to me. I miss you bachcha.

Ram sits on the bed behind Priya and gently rubs her back while she continues to stare at the picture on the wall.

In the mean time Peehu is walking down a deserted street with the piece of paper in her hand. She looks very anxious as she seems to be lost. Three men notice her walking aimlessly and the helpless look on her face. They walk up to her and ask her where she is going.

Peehu: I am looking for my Mamma's house. I cannot find it.

Man1: Do you have the address?

Peehu: Yes, here it is. She hands the paper to the man.

He shows it to the other two men and they make gestures to each other.

Man2: Come with us and we will show you the way.

Peehu: Do you know where my Mamma's house is?

Man3: Yes we do.

They take her to an old shed that is almost in shambles.

Peehu suddenly looks very scared: Where are you taking me?

Man1: Keep quiet. Do as we tell you.

They push her into the shed and bolt it from outside.

Peehu screams: Mamma!

Priya jumps off the bed and screams: Peehu baby! I am coming to get you. Don't worry. Ram runs behind her and holds her firmly in a hug.

Ram: Priya, please don't cry. Peehu is a brave girl. She will be fine. You have to be strong.

Just then the doorbell rings and both Priya and Ram run to the living room. Shipra opens the door and there are three men very shabbily dressed standing outside the door with the address in their hands.

Man 1 shows Shipra the piece of paper in his hands: Is this the right address Madam?

In the mean time, they hear a familiar voice from behind – a voice that is music to their ears. Peehu comes running inside and sees Shipra, Sudhir and Ram.

Peehu: Where is my Mamma?

On hearing Peehu's voice Priya comes from behind Ram and stops for a second. She sees Peehu and falls on her knees and grabs her and hugs her kissing her on every inch of her face.

Priya: I love you Bachcha. Please don't ever leave me and go, I was so scared baby. I love you so much and cannot live without you. I will never leave you ever again baby. I love you, and she continues to smother her with kisses.

Peehu moves back a little and sees the tears flowing incessantly down her cheeks. Using both her tiny hands, she wipes the tears off her mother's face and kisses her on both her cheeks: Mamma, I love you very much. You are the best Mamma in the whole world. I will never leave you and go anywhere. Mamma, you don't look good when you cry. You must always be happy Mamma. Peehu loves you very much. Mamma, I am hungry, can you make me some aloo parathas? She gives her Mamma a big hug.

Ram, Sudhir and Shipra are looking at the mother daughter reunion and have tears flowing down their cheeks – tears of joy, tears of relief and tears of ecstasy. They are so happy that she is fine.

Suddenly Ram remembers the three men who brought Peehu home and goes to the door and sees them looking at Priya and Peehu with tears in their eyes. They are touched at the mother daughter reunion. Ram thanks them profusely and offers them money.

Man1: Nahi Saab, Seeing your child safe in her mother's arms is our reward. We are happy that we were able to help.

All's well that ends well!!!

I hope you all read it and like it. God, how I sincerely wish this is what happens in the show. I am so nervous and anxious about what Monday will bring for us. Positive thinking is the need of the hour my friends. One should never lose hope.
