It opened at 1.9 and in the second week zoomed up to 2.5 points. Top shows on TV have ratings above 4 points, so going by that Bade Aache Lagte Hain may not seem to be doing well. However, for the channel, whose fiction shows haven't exactly taken of, this is reason enough to cheer.
What is it about Bade Acche Lagte Hain that appeals to viewers? "It's a refreshing story. We have had enough of kitchen politics," says Ratna Kulkarni, a housewife from Dadar.
A mature love story on Indian television was quite a risky proposition, but it seems to have paid off. "It's interesting to watch two older people falling in love," says Niharika Patel, a computer professional. "Why should serials only show two young people fall in love? We are happy to see something different," she says.
However, there's one point that audiences feel.. that it doesn't seem like a romance between a 33-year-old lady and a 40-year-old man. "It's more like a 40-year-old woman and a 48-year-old guy because that's what Ram Kapoor and Sakshi Tanwar look," says Dinesh Gupta, a businessman, who watches the show regularly.
