What a lovely episode today! This show has started to become like my daily dose of eclairs now...melting sweetly in the mouth everyday😆

1) Nikumb's reward for Yamini passing her ultimate test...awww so sweetly done...the best part for me personally is how this is all still on such a PLATONIC note...no cliched romantic tones to it...it was such an innocent, child-like moment of joy, of glee for Yamini...I do wonder how Nikumb found out about Yamini wanting to see the moon and the stars like this...lol...was this mentioned anywhere before? Did I miss some scene?

Anyways getting back to the scene, I loved the gradual way in which it unfolded...the moon, then Yamini saying the moon looks so lonesome by itself, so Nikumb turns on the stars...then she yearns for a breeze, so he turns on the fans😆...and the snowfall as a BONUS😆...and Yamini so filled with wonderous glee over the visual in front of her...

Special mention for how BEAUTIFULLY this scene was shot...Hrishikesh Gandhi, take a bow👏👏...the lighting abilities of this guy on TV...brilliant...loved the way those bits were shot with Yamini enjoying the snow, splashing water from the pond onto it...and the Baawre song playing in the bg just added to the beauty of the scene.

In the middle of all the romanticism, one other moment that stood out for me was Nikumb talking about how she might think he's baawra (crazy😆) when she wonders how he produced snow in the middle of Lucknow but he will make the impossible happen by building a world class theater production in Lucknow itself...I loved the confidence with which he said that...these are the touches that make his character interesting.

2) NM's narration about Dosti ke Phere...I loved this bit! So nicely described as always...the evolution of NY's friendship as it is happening right now...the way their relationship is developing...again, I'm so THANKFUL that this show is exploring different stages of this relationship rather than rushing into romance...that FRIENDSHIP is properly happening before that is so nice to see...and the way NM spoke about them developing this friendship through sweet moments that are yet to come...hindi mein jaise woh bolte hain, sab kuch itna sundar lagta hai waise bhi😆...

And I liked how he joked about the eventual pheras that may/may not happen😆

3) Yamini-Daddo's scene where Daddo reminisces about how she first became friends with Yamini's grandpa...touching scene...so naturally performed by the actress...and I liked how it gave Yamini food for thought regarding how her relationship is growing with Nikumb...and Daddo ever so perceptive notices how Yamini can't stop talking about Nikumb in every second sentence out of her mouth...lol...I liked how even though Daddo probed her on the topic, it was done so NATURALLY without the cliched wink-wink kind of teasing...and the way Yamini gets an idea to thank Nikumb with a gift...

7) The ear-ring comes full circle...lol for a second I thought they will go the "Gift of Maggi" way...anyone read that story? One of my all time favs...I thought Yamini will barter her earring to buy that miniature scooter for Nikumb and by then Nikumb will return her earring to her...but by the end of the epi, Yamini didn't manage to get the scooter so I'm still wondering how she'll do it...lol

By the way how sweetly have they set this up...firstly the gift chosen is SO nice in thought...tying back to Nikumb's beloved scooter that he lost during the riots...and then the way Yamini is trying so hard to gather money to get the scooter...is just making it all the more significant...

Also interesting that Yamini doesn't remember where she lost her other earring😆...and Nikumb for his part still has the earring and Azam is teasing him about it even as he scoffs it all off...lol

And the dialogues are just getting better and better...today the one about "U.P. ki bijli ki tarhaan kahaan gaayab rehte ho?" was awesome😆

Precap: So Yamini did manage to get the scooter...I wonder how😆...and Nikumb as expected is refusing the gift...lol...and Yamini lets him KNOW how much that's hurting her😆

Your posts always complement a good episode and how! I love how you always focus on just the good things. Makes for pleasant and thoughtful reading.
😊

It is rarely that we come across a show that is really not so HUGE in terms of complexity but made with SO much heart. You want to do a little hip hip hurray for Yamini when you see the SHEER joy on her face on seeing the electric lights light up in the shape of a star, or fake "snow" falling all around her. A bit of wind for effect! You also feel proud when Nikumbh says, "hum kar hi lenge" when talking about the theater production. It is such an earnest story, and played by actors with such earnestness. I was Abhishek's fan since the very first episode, but Vinita too delivers very well when she opens up, just like Yamini.

His dialogue was what stood out to me, too. He is ambitious and has a confidence that comes only from knowing that you have given your sincere best to something. His sincerity is so touching. Be it a theater production, a Shakuntala in the making, or a gift made with electric lights and artificially created snow. 😆 He gives his hundred percent to everything, and when Yamini reciprocates, even a few things that could be a little contrived make sense.

Coming to Yamini, what stood out to me was her saying that she may not be Shakuntala, but she has become Yamini. Truly, she isn't Shakuntala. What she really needed to see, and eventually did see, is that she could be more than the Yamini that she was before she got phasaod with Nikumbh! 😆 There was always this real Yamini hidden beneath her father's Mini, the popular singer. Nikumbh made her come face to face with this person. And now that she has seen her, her personality may not have taken a 180 degree turn, but she feels COMPLETE AND WHOLE. That is what has changed.

This Yamini can think of Nikumbh as her friend, without feeling any immediate emotions of love, with a clear heart and head. And this is important for someone like her because I don't think she has ONE really good friend, except for her daddu. It is the symbol of a bond of trust and mutual respect. And you really connect so much with a story that has a basis for every single development in the storyline.

Neelesh Misra'a tidbits... I can never say enough. It's just beautiful, what he does with a two minute scene.

And I also wanted to make a point about Akhlaque Khan and his Azam. He shares such wonderful chemistry with Abhishek. His Azam is such a treat to watch. Truly. And the dialogues that these two get, like you said. 😆

P.S. I have never read "Gift of Maggi". Who's the author?

Finally got the time to reply to this.
So overall it was a great episode.

My favorite part is how considerate they both are. Nikumbh seems a bit confusing because of how he seems kind of hypocritical but the truth is that he actually is a man with a golden heart. He is willing to give others happiness but doesn't want to have any for himself or even partake in someone else's. Hopefully Yamini teaches him that gifts are meant to highlight a part of someone's life or thank someone for their wonderful presence in the presenter's life.

Great post. This show is becoming my favorite for it simplicity. The only thing i questioned was why would a director want the leading lady to do all these "tasks" to qualify to play the character, but i dont really want to dwell on it. And i agree , the narrator is doing a great job!

"The Gift of the Magi" is a short story, about a young married couple and how they deal with the challenge of buying secret Christmas gifts for each other with very little money. Written by O' Henry, it is considered one of the finest short stories in english literature.

😊 Aww thank you!😊 Actually I focus on the good things simply cuz I forward through the Raghu parts😆...and it's easier to give this title to the post rather than rack my brains for a more specific one😆

I was Abhishek's fan since the very first episode, but Vinita too delivers very well when she opens up, just like Yamini. WORDD!👏👏👏 You've put it so beautifully! Oh I couldn't agree more! Earnestness is SO the word...an earnest story played out so earnestly...and yes it's remarkable that a story that is otherwise very simple in nature comes across as nuanced cuz it's made with SO much heart...it's that HEART that we are connecting to as an audience.😊

Such a lovely point...when you put it like that it, it makes all the more sense👏

Oh thank you for reminding me about this dialogue! I loved it too! But forgot to mention it! LOL...I love how she is discovering that Yamini...Shakuntala is actually just a tool to uncover THIS Yamini...this Yamini that Yamini herself is discovering EXISTS and yearns to express herself...it is liberating to start to recognize one's true self...and yes I also love that it's not an overnight personality change but we do see those significant changes happening in Yamini slowly but surely...

Ditto yet again...you spoke my mind :-) Yes I also love that it can be an honest, genuine friendship first and yes that is something Yamini badly needs cuz she lacks a real friend in her age group...Daddo ofcourse is an awesome confidante but the fact that Yamini can reach out like this for friendship without any cliches attached to it...just pure, genuine emotion wanting to be expressed...that is what makes it sweet for me.

Neelesh Misra'a tidbits... I can never say enough. It's just beautiful, what he does with a two minute scene. I knowww! I'm just missing the poems though! I hope we get a new poem this week! In NM's voice!

And I also wanted to make a point about Akhlaque Khan and his Azam. He shares such wonderful chemistry with Abhishek. His Azam is such a treat to watch. Truly. And the dialogues that these two get, like you said. 😆 Oh Akhlaque is doing an awesome job! His chemistry with Abhishek was on point since day one and it's only gotten better...the writing material for them is also getting more and more awesome with each epi...I love how the writers use Azam as a sounding board for Nikumb and through him, the audience gets to know what Nikumb is thinking/planning too.

P.S. I have never read "Gift of Maggi". Who's the author? Actually I put in an extra G by accident...lol...it's the Gift of the Magi...by O.Henry...Shreya's posted info in a post above...it's one of those classic short stories that just stay with you...I'm not sure if it will be referenced in the show though...if you want to see another place where they adapted that story, watch this music video...another one of my fav. classics😆...the gift of Magi reference is towards the end...notice what the couple does to buy a gift for each other

Thank you so much!

Re: Director making the leading lady do tasks...actually it's not that far-fetched...I've heard many other stories about what eccentric directors do to make their actors BECOME the characters...exercises of all sorts to make the actors open up, to understand their characters so that they do justice to the VISION of the director.

Yamini is a novice at acting to begin with and now happens to be the star of Nikumb's play...the whole play is resting on her shoulders as a performer so Nikumb wants to make sure she does justice to it...and Yamini needed to open up and push herself as a PERSONALITY before she could do that...in the process she has managed to rediscover herself as well...😊

Thanks for the analysis Anu! Loved everything about yesterday's episode. The bonus was daddy dearest being in Bareli ke bajar me..loved that line from Azim. Lol.
There was something so sweet and innocent about the moon, stars, the wind and final bonus snow ... scene that you could almost taste it. The way Yamini relishes the treat was wonderful to watch and Nikubh watching her enjoy with that beautiful indulgent smile of his..that smile was so real almost like in his intensity he forgets to smile and Yamini has brought it back to his face. Everthing just flowed together so well. Words are not enough to describe that feeling you get from the first blush of friendship which will eventually turn into love. But the writers, director, actors, cinematographer, lightening people and everyone involved in the creative process did an astonishing job of engaging all the senses of the audience to make you actually feel what was happening on the screen.

Lovely! Absolutely lovely!

Can't wait to see how the scooter gift comes together today.
