Producer sets a shining example

Few spare a thought at Diwali for the less fortunate. Producer Jamnadas Majethia (fondly known as JD) does. He gifts his staff with a unique gift every year. Hats Off – the production house that makes serials like Sarabhai V Sarabhai, Instant Khichdi and Baa Bahu aur Baby – gifts its technical staff and office boys with medical insurance each Diwali. "We have almost a staff of 150 people. We gift medical insurance to those who don't have any, and renew the insurance of those who do. We do this because at their level they cannot afford to invest in insurance. Also, they have a different mindset. They think it is a waste of money. They don't realise the importance of having insurance. So we take this small step to make an improvement in their lives," JD says.
