Chapter 5
Aisha enters the hall looking gorgeous in a pink sari paired with a white blouse. Her hair is tied into a bun and her expression conveyed nothing. She looks around and sees that the others have already came. She walks to them and accepts the drink that chotu offered. She said in a low voice making sure no one heard "till now, none of my informants were given these drugs." Chotu said "none of my informants could provide any information on whether these drugs hit the streets."
Shree: I went through his financial information. The money came from a numbered account.
Liza: I have done some more tests on these drugs. And these are not your usual variety of drugs. Something is there which makes them completely different. but I am unable to identify that compound. I have to do some more tests to find out what this compound is.
Shree: drugs which is different?. money from a numbered account. And if we are going by our assumptions then till now such drugs should have also hit the streets yet no one heard about them. guys, are we barking up the wrong tree? Is there something different going on this time?
Liza nudges aisha and aisha turns only to stare into those eyes which snatched her sleep before and even now. She looks how those eyes conveyed their happiness at seeing all of them and sadness of unable to keep them together. Sameer broke his gaze from aisha and looks at every one of his team. Because no matter what anyone says but they are and will always be his family. 8 months had strengthened them in many ways yet in some ways they are still hurt. He notices how chotu's eyes don't have that sparkle anymore, shree's eyes conveys his seriousness, liza seemed to have lost her humour and aisha, aisha seems to have taken a vow never to smile again. They notice how sameer's moustache is gone and how there was a shrewdness and calmness which concealed nothing yet everything from anyone who saw him. sameer walks towards them and hopes to meet that one person remaining to complete this team. He then notices how their gaze shift from him to behind him. He stops and turns to see the person standing in front of him, his arrogant attitude still shown by the way he puts his hands in his pockets. Sameer and his gaze meets almost immediately and he almost smirks thinking "think of the devil and the devil is here." He then notices two people standing behind arjun. He turns to see expressions of shock coming on aisha, chotu and liza's faces. Meeting arjun's gaze sameer understood who the man standing behind him was.
Karan looks where arjun's gaze was going and sees a guy of arjun's age wearing a suit. Both arjun and him were meeting each other's gazes as if leveling each other out. Yet both karan and simran detected a tenderness in their gaze, a worry for each other and the people surrounding them. simran notices how both of them immediately put shutters down hiding their emotions and showing blankness in their faces and she wonders how a person can be so effective in hiding. Karan meanwhile observes how the former ETF team looks at both of their bosses with tenderness and sadness in their eyes. He realizes that no matter what they will always remain together. How much ever distance is there, they will be there for each other. This realization gave karan a sensation of hollowness, an emptiness which he had'nt felt for a long time. A feeling which he ignored and it faded over time had now come back in full force.
All of their thoughts broke when raghu came to greet them. Karan and simran immediately relaxed at the party but arjun and sameer did not. All of them kept glancing at each other. Karan sat on the stool at the bar and began flirting with the girl sitting beside him. within minutes the girl was charmed. Simran was watching all of this from a distance. When she saw that the girl is charmed, she went towards them and standing behind karan said in a honey-dripping voice "jaan, where are you so long time? I was searching for you." Karan gave a scalding gaze while she said to the confused girl "oh, I am so sorry. I see you have met my boyfriend. I hope he has'nt been troubling you." the girl gets off the stool in a minute. Simran immediately takes her place smiling at karan's crestfallen expression. He said "simran, what the hell? Why did you scare her away?". Simran replies "karan, I actually saved you. you should be thanking me. already you have about I don't know 20 girlfriends. And handling another one would have increased your workload. So in short I reduced your workload." Karan was going to say when he stops and a mischievious twinkle enters his eyes. He gets of the stool and comes near simran. He said huskily "so I am your boyfriend. So does'nt that mean that I deserve a kiss?" simran smiles and putting her hand on the chest pushes away saying "oh please karan, get a life. You being my boyfriend. Not a chance." Before karan could say anything else, they heard someone clear their throat. Looking at their side, they were surprised to find anjali standing there.
Kar: anjali, what are you doing here?
Anj: karan, this is a party so obviously I came to attend the party.
Sim: but you were'nt able to come.
Anj: I did'nt know that we were going to attend the same party. That's why I said that we were not able to come.
Arjun by that time had noticed anjali. He came and put his hand on anjali's shoulder. Anjali turned and smiles saying "hi, mr arjun."
Arj: hey anjali, seems like we are attending the same party.
Anj: thank god. you did'nt ask the same question.
Sameer notices arjun sitting on one knee and talking to a girl. To his surprise, it is the same girl who he had seen in the beach. He walks towards them curious. Anjali sees sameer coming towards them while arjun senses him. anjali said "are'nt you the guy from the beach?"
Sameer smiles and nods his head while arjun looks on surprised. By this time the curiosity of seeing the new members of arjun sir's team brought the other team members to where they were standing.
Anj: why were you staring at us in the beach?
Sam: is it wrong to stare?
Anj: it is wrong if you have bad intentions in your mind.
Arj: he won't have bad intentions in his mind.
Sameer and anjali looks at him.
Anj: you are mr arjun's partner?
Before arjun could say anything, sameer said "yes". She then looks at the other members and asks "did you all leave the police force?"
Somehow that question made a break in the tension between all of them. they all smiles at her innocent question and shook their head. Anjali then looks at arjun and said "mr arjun, my di says that it is bad manners to not introduce. So introduce us." arjun gives a slight smile and introduced everyone to each other. When she heard that shree is a technical expert, she said challengingly "I bet I can beat you in a video game." Shree smiles saying "you are on." Anjali then looks at her watch and gasps. She said "I better go otherwise di and misha will wonder where I am."
At that moment, her sweet voice reached their ears saying "anjali, there you are." They turn to see a young lady dressed in a purple churidar with doe-shaped eyes and a heartstopping dimple smile.
