I think context alag hai dono mein. Anuj ka support karna and understanding hona is ekdum fine and infact, relationship ka base hi understanding hota hai.
Anu ka Kinjal ko support karna is also fine. but humesha wohi cheez karte rehna is not fine. I think jaise abhi you mentioned, characterisation ki issue hai. we've seen ki iska self respect ka standard kaafi kam hai and I think woh difference of opinion hai logon mein.
But yahaan par only one thing can help and actually needs to come is how Anuj will make sure she stands up for herself and drawing boundaries cus Anu doesn't understand or is unable to.
