Telly town's sizzling bad girl Simran Kaur Hundal in a chat with TOI

Her small screen outings have seen her in different avatars till now. Simran Kaur Hundal, who debuted on the small screen with Love Ne Mila Di Jodi, was later seen as the docile Diya inNa Aana Is Des Laado. As she chats with TOI, Simran comes across as a bubbly person. Currently, she portrays the role of a witch in her TV soap - Anamika.

Commenting on her show, which has earned her the term 'chulbuli chudail', she says, "Playing a witch was challenging and something I had not done before. My character has different shades as sometimes she is a vamp but there is also a soft side to her. The challenge is to be different in every screen outing, which is why I take a few months break after every show." She adds, "After Laado, I was offered similar kind of roles. But I had no patience to do similar roles. Even by the time Laado ended, I wanted to leave because I get bored very easily."

While most characters on the small screen wear simple clothes, Simran looks attractive and glam in beautiful lace sarees. She says, "In my first show, I played a rich girl so I was presented well. In Laado, when I read about my character, I knew I would have to wear not very fashionable clothes, so I prepared myself for it mentally. But when I heard I was to wear sarees for Anamika, I was a little reluctant because I did not know how to walk, or how to drape a saree. Also, I have never worn sarees before!"

Simran, who loves to be "a couch potato and eat as much as possible in front of the TV," had actually planned to become a doctor or a scientist. She says, "I was a fat kid and a chubby teenager. I always dreamt of becoming either a doctor or a scientist." So how did acting happen? She replies, "Since childhood I was a big nautanki. I just never had the guts to go to my dad and tell him I wanted to become an actor. But eventually things fell in place."

But Simran does not relate to her current on screen character. "I am just not like Anamika. I am disciplined and particular about how one behaves in public. Otherwise I am a simple girl, not too shy." She adds, "I am often confused with other Simran Kaurs in showbiz and it is irritating at times. My name is Simran Kaur Hundal!"
Before she continues with her shoot, we ask her about her current relationship status. She laughs and says, "No comments," and signs off.
