and why punish only Anamika? Why not Rajaji??

Killing Anamika is not going to solve any problem. Rajaji could fall in love with someone else.

Rani shold not have felt betrayed as polygamy was the norm at that time.

Killing off people for political/personal gain was also a NORM of royals at THAT time. 😆 We shouldn't criticize the Rani for doing what ANYBODY would've done in her place.

TM specifically asked if Rani was right or wrong...Actually their have been rarely a king who didnot keep many women in his palace except Aurangzeb...who kept only 4 wives. Otherwise even in BC kings married many times for political purpose...So my point is Rani should have expected it...

I got your point. My counter-argument was that what the Rani did was not uncommon either.

It was not uncommon but surely Rani would also have paid for killing her husband's beloved.😆
Queens usually accepted it as they were raised like that and were familiar with it...Having one wife is modern day norm.

Yeah, but that's a different question altogether. In Burma, Queen Supayalat, wife of King Mindon had all her co-wives and their children murdered except for Thebaw (so he could marry her daughter who was his half-sister). So yes, the Queens could do it. And this is the question of RIGHT or WRONG within a time frame. So judging by that, the Queen wouldn't be wrong.

Sorry but I dont agree with you. You cant take one stray example and use it for generalising...Even Noorjahan who was all powerful never dared to kill other wives of Jahangir...

@elasingh: There are TONS of other examples. Anyway, you keep missing the point. We're talking about RIGHT/WRONG. Either both of them were right, or both wrong.

Well lets see... the Queen had money and fame... taking lives was a little too ez at that time.. and of some1 that wasn't at the same status... very ez... along with that jealousy that your King will marry someone else...(ya it was common) but theres another factor Anamika wasn't royalty so the Queen takes it as an insult sharing that status with her.. so perhaps the Rani wasn't right but she wasn't exactly wrong from her perspective...
