okay so I am making another of my educational post on Autism! lolz!
I have been wondering this for quite a while now and I am beginning to believe that Antara might just turn out to be a musical genius!
Firstly, Vidya is a music teacher, which is the biggest hope of my assumption being true!
it is already very clear now that Antara is an autistic child that falls in the "autistic savant" case. "Autistic savants" is referred to those people who possess extraordinary skills. So far it is apparent that Antara has a great mathematical and memory ability.
And of course not to forget, Antara falls in the category of the rarest of the rare prodigious savant because she seems to have all the savant abilities… ahem…. 😆 it's really one in the million kind of case! not all autistic children are gifted with savant abilities, many people believe that every autistic person has such abilities....
And I believe there is a great chance of her having exceeding musical skills. One thing that pointed out to that was the fact was that Antara has a mobile that makes odd musical sounds; the mobile which she loves and plays with all the time.
I have a feeling that in the future they are going to show Antara's musical abilities, Vidya might discover her musical skills and maybe music might create a bond between Vidya and Antara…..
I really would love to see that, after seeing the promo where Vidya is singing to Abhi and Antara walks in fascinated by Vidhya's singing…. it raises my hope of Antara having the ability of perfectly playing a musical piece after hearing it being played by Vidya…. She might also sing the song Vidya was singing to Abhi, with perfect pitch and all….
I think it would be interesting to see Antara's musical abilities, Vidya teaching Antara music…..
What do you guys think? Will Antara turn out to be a musical savant?
Here's a little detail about the savant abilities
There are many forms of "autistic savants", such as exceeding mathematical calculations, artistic abilities, memory feats and musical abilities. And this is very rare in autistic children, one out of ten autistic people have savant and many savants suffer from some form of neurological impairment other than autism.
We have already seen Antara's mathematical ability, her extraordinary knowledge of processing the calculations of numbers. She has already shown her ability by calculating large numbers in division in her head and quickly giving the answers. This ability exceeds quite far such as the autistic child calculating square roots and prime numbers without faltering. An example of mathematical ability displayed in calendar memory is when they are asked a question like 'What day of the week was May 22, 1961? and they can determine the answer within seconds--Monday.
We have also witnessed her memory feats, like her remembering her father's full name, his date of birth and his phone number. People with this ability tend to remember every ones birthday, even though they might meet the person just once and then seeing that person 20 years later, they will still remember the person's birth-date. For savants, asking for a birth date is a common way of introducing themselves which we have seen Antara doing….
There are rare cases of autistic children that have an outstanding skill (splinter skills), such as an incredible rote memory or musical ability. Such children may be referred to as "autistic savants", and occur in almost 10% of cases of autism. These skills can be quite astonishing. One example is the ability to play a piece of music almost perfectly after hearing it one time. Many savants are left hander and many suffer from some form of neurological impairment other than autism. There is no explanation on what causes "autistic savant", there are many theories but no evidence to support them.
*Movies*
In the movie, "RainMan"Raymond displayed a great memory for ball player statistics, memorized parts of the telephone book, and counted cards in Las Vegas.
Then there is also the hindi movie "Yuvvraaj" in which Anil kapoor plays the character of an autistic person who has splinter skills in music. Personally, I think the movie was a very bad adaptation of "RainMan" the only good thing in the movie was Salman….
There is another movie "main aisa hi hoon" in which Ajay Devgan's character has autism with splinter skill in music.
