Which was the role you enjoyed playing the most? Oh I enjoyed each one of them. It's not easy to choose. Little kids look up to super heroes and I got to play one through Arslaan. Then there was Sumer in 'Jo ishq ki marzi' and now it's Abhinav. They were all equally interesting characters to play and I got to learn something from each of them. Any special role you would like to do in the future? I'd like to try a negative character. Then some new genres. I'm also keen on doing comedy as and when the opportunity arises. So what about a Dance reality show? Oh I'd love it. I simply love dancing. And a dance reality show would be something that I could enjoy completely. Would you marry an older girl if you have to consider such a situation? I haven't thought about it but ya, why not. For me attraction and chemistry is what counts. So age is not a criterion. Elder, younger or same age should not make a difference if you share the right bond. Tell me something about yourself. How would you describe yourself as a person? Well one thing I've learned about myself is that I'm a very focused person. I try to achieve what I want. Then I'm an enjoyable companion to be with. Some people tell me that I'm a little boring. But I don't think so. I'm pretty good company. What are you good at? Acting or Law? (Laughs) Well I guess I can act out the law very well. Tell me something about your experience of shooting in Delhi. How different is it from Mumbai? Mumbai is a concrete jungle while Delhi is more open. It's more spacious as compared to Mumbai. Having said that, both the cities have their own, different feel. And I'm a very adaptable person. So I can adjust to new places or situations easily. The people of Delhi are also very different. The way they speak is a lot different from the people in Mumbai. As an actor, I try to observe them and learn new things. Also my Hindi accent was not that good while in Mumbai. And people up north have an especially clear accent. So I'm getting to improve my language skills too. 'Karol Bagh' is one show that has come up with a lot of social issues, be it female molestation or the recent campaign you and Smriti undertook to spread awareness about the hazards of smoking. Which is that one social issue you really feel concerned about or think that it ought to be taken care of? I think corruption is an issue which needs to be handled seriously. And we are trying to highlight it through Nakul's character to some extent. But because Karol Bagh is about three sisters and is more women- oriented, the issue of molestation naturally takes an upper hand. So be it molestation or corruption, these issues need to be handled with seriousness. One thing about you that nobody knows. I'm an open book. There's nothing hidden about me. (Suddenly remembers) But ya, I guess that few people really know that I've also been an athlete. I've won accolades at the Inter- state level as well. One thing that you absolutely hate. I can't stand egoistical people. People who throw tantrums or those with an attitude! I'm basically a very down to earth person, so when somebody tries to impress me with an attitude, I believe in giving it back to them. I can really give such people a tough time. How's your equation with co- star Smriti? Well it's not just Smriti but the entire cast of 'Karol Bagh' is like a family to me. We stay here in Delhi and while I'm away from home I know these are the people I can fall back on and look for support. I spend my entire time with them so that bonding is simply great. Any message you wish to be conveyed to your fans? Wonderful people! Like every other actor I look up to them for their support. So keep supporting me and loving me the way you have always done. Any upcoming projects apart from Karol Bagh? There is so much that I'd like to do. There's direction which I'd like to try my hand at, making movies, more of acting of course. But these will take time. As of now there's nothing substantial apart from 'Karol Bagh'. Your ultimate weakness? I don't think I'd give that away (Laughs) Your ultimate strength? I think it's my will power that keeps me strong. ---Rahat Khan/ TellyCafe.com |
