What does Binlaws mean ??.
Nitu - it's my abbreviation for brothers-in-law and yes, I am making the 2 friends. Eons ago when I had taken a first stab at 'my version' I had them all being friends (except Anita). I am reviving some of that and only loosely paralleling KB as it has been related by the SunEclipsers!
PP would it be the permanent palace??
No, it's the 'Pink Palace' aka 12/24 Karol Bagh!
Come on D. just when the great part starts they all falling in love already at the TAJ..
OK! Hold yer horses! Looks like you folks are getting all entangled in your thoughts! First: I said that when he saw her he was 'intrigued'! Second, I said 'activities' ... that's plural! You're assuming that these transpired over the course of a week or less. I did not say 'festivities', I said 'ACTIVITIES'! Which means all kinds of things going on over the course of months! And just because these are pre-wedding does not translate to 'only associated with the wedding!'
Dadi amma is also in the cahoots with feeding them the lies...
Well! She sure lied in the serial as well! Here, she is relatively honest!
Exactly! I thought the title of 'setting the stage' and stating that this is what I 'envisioned' upto the current point in time would be self-explanatory!
5/25 to the other side of the NUKAAD of the 40th street
Why?! Because why would Bhalla go to the length of coming to 12/24 from blocks away for the express purpose of taunting Simi??!! How much better when he lives in close proximity?! It's inevitable that as relative neighbors they run into each other which gives him the opportunity to 'get even'. Furthermore, that's how the proposal from his side happened ... being so close they know all the goings-on, have known that Simi remains unmarried and Kalavati Bhalla thinks her boy a suitable husband!! Also, it avoids the contortions that they took us through with the title to the home, then mum and son moving lock, stock, and barrel from wherever to 13/24!! To imagine that the other fellow was questioning the realism in my writeup!! He found that rubbish to be realisitic??!!! His life is obviously a LOT more 'exciting' than mine!!

Ask Ramas - she wrote it. She has a copy - perhaps she can email it to you. Actually, if you don't mind WHY would you be interested in reading a rape scene between your two favourite characters - is that something that you'd find romantic reading?

was raped and mudered was one of my freinds cousion when we friends went there i could not say what the family was going through , i could not even see helpless husband ,mother and father and relatives cryng beside her body who could not even touch her as the postmortem has been done ,only after that the call center's company's in bangalore made some strict rules for the safety of women employee's.
were we girls in india suffer physical abusment on day to day basis .let it be in a bus or standing in bus stand or even in work place and most public places,i personally had faced such incidents in bus ,the frist day i faced such thing i was crying i found myself so help less.then i felt y should i cry ,y i could not stand for myself and after that next time i took my sandals in my hand and then never felt help less. and coming to the point . i have read some of the FF's which were quite good the initial part bcoz i did not had time for going through all the ff 's ,i felt it was quite very different from the basic story ,i actually wanted to know suddenly what made her to write something like this to a character which i admire a lot personally , y did she took a such a drastic step of writing that part of the story ,i really wanted to know the reason for writing so .which is not acceptable under any circumstances ,if its husband or who ever it is .actually a few month ago i read a article that rape is not that a unknown men forces u but if ur husband also forces u against ur willing it is also a case of rape .i personally feel love and marriage doesnot give licesence

i liked the story of 12/24 karol bagh was the main basic story line what a girl feels when she is rejected only bcoz she is at her age of 30 and bit bubbly ,i can relate myself to simi to a extend iamu not married and s iam bit bubbly too,i also face those situation which she had faced in the marriage market ,i wish even i could get a person like abhi in my life who doesn't cares about the outlook but like's the interior beauti ..
'Hello?'
'Hey Abhi, old chap! How are you?!'
'I'm fine, who's this?'
'Vishal man! Remember me?!'
'Yo! Vishal!!!! Where are you??!!'
'I'm here, home, for a month, then it's back for the final semester at the London School of Economics! Hey, I got your number from your mom! What's up yaar?! Heard you're all married and everything!! I mean, I couldn't believe it when I heard that??! You havta fill me in on everything I've missed!'
'Wow! Man, I can hardly wait to see you! I'm temporarily staying in Karol Bagh at my in-laws'
'Whoa!! KAROL BAGH??!!'
'Yeah! Like I said, it's only temporary. Simi's father is not well and she's there taking care of things ... it's a long involved story! Hey! What are you doing tomorrow night? Why don't you come over to meet Simi ... and have dinner with us!'
'Yeah! OK! Sounds good! Boy, she must be some lady to have caught your attention!'
'Yup, she's a real nice person', he said listlessly.
'What's up yaar! Shouldn't you sound more excited than that?!'
'Oh no! I'm sorry! She's awesome! I'm just tired from this thing called work! How about you come over at 7:00 tomorrow?'. This was not the time to start pouring his heart out about their altercation.
'Perfect! It's great hearing your voice Abhi man! How long has it been since we saw each other last! What's the address?!'
Vishal and Abhi were high-school friends and their friendship had brought the Tanejas and the Mathurs into a wonderful friendship. He briefly and tersly told Simi about the conversation and asked if something special could be prepared for dinner the next evening.
Vishal arrived on time and was a little taken aback at the sight of the Pink Palace! Wow! This was such a drastic change from their homes in Golf Links and Chanakyapuri! Not to mention their homes in the hills. His own family would be headed to Kulu after his return to London. He was really befuddled at the cause behind this - Simi must be someone truly special! He walked up to the home itself, on the second floor of the building. On the brass plate it announced 'Sethi Niwas'. He couldn't help but smile. How he'd been ribbed on his arrival in England about his inability - like the vast preponderance of Indians - to phonetically distinguish 'w' from 'v'! He certainly was glad, his parents had spelt his name with the 'V' ... 'Wishal' would have been too much. He rang the door bell and saw a smiling Abhi on the other side.
'Heeeeyyy!! Come on in buddy!! So GOOD to see you!!'
They shook hands, then hugged long and warmly. Abhi walked him into the living room. He did not want to be rude by examining it in any detail, but his peripheral vision told him that the room was appointed in a comfortable way although not to his (or Abhi's) taste.
Rajinder Sethi welcomed him in his usual warm and friendly way - all smiles. Manju shyly so. Then Abhi introduced him to Simi. Vishal saw a very lovely woman dressed in a casual but tasteful sulvaar-suit. Her hair was in a braid. She had on a pair of simple gold earrings, a gold wedding band, a few gold bangles, and a watch. Very understated, but elegant. She spoke and it was a soft, mellifluous voice. He saw the color rise in her cheeks ever so slightly from which he was distracted by her angelic smile! He did not need any further evidence that there was good reason for Abhi to have been attracted to her. He'd heard she was 'considerably' older than Abhi, but no such age difference was discernible. What was all that about? he wondered, then banished any further thoughts on the subject.
He sat on the couch, then thought he saw a vision emerge from another room.
'Hey, Mili! Come meet my friend Vishal'.
In walked this bubbly, petite woman dressed in a pastel sulvaar suit. He rose, and stood there, momentarily mesmerized, then caught himself so as not to appear rude by staring. They shook hands and everyone sat down for a chat. Mili saw a tall, skinny, good looking young man. Any friend of her beloved binlaw Abhi was a friend of hers! 'Lambu pole in the Tambu' is how Vishal's younger sister Vasundhara referred to him! After a few minutes, Simi arose to leave the room. She returned with glasses of Nimbu-Pani. It was a warm evening. Ah! , he thought. A cold beer here at Sethi Nivas would not what would have been offered! The Nimbu Pani was perfect. Just the right amount of sweet and sour.
The talking went on for the better part of an hour. He was all ears every time Mili spoke and was glad that he did not have to look for special opportunities to feast his eyes on her. He liked what he saw! He liked what he saw a lot! He learnt that she was pursuing a M.S. in Biochemistry at Delhi University. 'Hmmm ... Impressive', he thought. Were there any more Sethi girls he wondered. Would never have thought that Karol Bagh would be such a treasure trove! He had other male cousins you know! Mili, however, was spoken for. She was going to be his wife!
It was almost 8:00, so Manju asked if it was a good time for dinner. She apologized that it was only a 'simple, home cooked, vegetarian meal'. That was fine with him. Home cooked was always good and he had not a shred of doubt that the food here would be heavenly.
There was chaval with mutter and jeera, some sort of yellow dal the likes of which he had never had before, bhari hui bhindi, paneer makhani, paalak ka raita (wow! that was awesome!), tandoori roti (the joys of living in KB, where such amenities were easily available - your local tandoor where you brought your own dough), and a kachumbar of cucumber, tomatoes, onions, cilantro, and green chilis with that wonderful lime available in such abundance this time of year.
'So, Mili, which ones of these things did you prepare?', he joked, engaging her in conversation.
'Oh, it might be easier to ask, which ones did I NOT prepare! Why, everything of course!', she giggled. 'No, I'm only joking! It was all mum and Simi-di! I can whip up a mean meal though you know! That too in under 1/2 day!' She laughed heartily and it was an infectious laugh causing everybody to roar.
There was wonderful cold mango and cold kheer for dessert.
Well ... that's where the Vishal/Mili saga began!
The next thing the Sethis knew there was a proposal from the Mathurs. Mili was agreeable to going out with Vishal to measure up this tall lanky fellow. Under no circumstances, however, was a marriage to take place before her degree was complete. That would be a year from now.
A grand engagement was arranged to happen a week before Vishal left for the UK.

It was our utter OUTRAGE at the glorifying of this noxious aspect of life that caused us to be vociferous! Certainly, the offending material was excised ... but at a cost! We got Warning Levels etc raised!! So, please take your quibble up with the original author! Amongst us you will only find kindred spirits for this sort of thing!
Please talk with Raksha or read the FF if you want to know the other side of the story. Anyway, only Dipa's FF should be discussed here.Originally posted by: SValeCalGal
