Chapter 49

Sid's heart was filled with complicated emotions as he recalled what had happened with Ritika.

"Sid, you're coming to the party and that's fixed" Arun said adamantly as he stood up from the chair in the college canteen.

He had literally lost his patience to persuade Sid to join them to party. 

"I said I'm not coming" Sid was stick to his decision, no matter what Arun and Nitesh kept saying from the last one hour. 

"Ignorance doesn't bring anything, Sid. It can only make things more complicated" Nitesh spoke in a subtle way.  

Sid stared at Nitesh for what he said. And he clearly understood what he meant. 

Nitesh was referring to Sid's ignorance towards Ritika. It had been a week since she expressed her feelings towards Sid. 

And ever since Sid had been avoiding to talk to her. He was clearly pissed off with whatever happened. 

Ritika was a good friend of him, who he cared for. However, he just couldn't reciprocate her feelings. 

With Sid avoiding Ritika, the gang hadn't spent some good times for the whole week. And to settle the things, Arun had planned a catch-up party for their gang, which Sid wasn't interested to attend. 

When Sid stood up to leave, he found Ritika and Ruchi entering the canteen. 

Sid, tried to leave, ignoring them but, stopped as he heard Ritika. 

"Sid, please.." Ritika walked and stood before him, blocking his way. 

"I'm sorry. I shouldn't have thought that stupid stuff" Ritika spoke, guiltily. 

"Leave it" Sid only said two words as he tried to walk away. 

"Then you too leave it" Arun pulled Sid back, wrapping his arm around him. 

"I left it already" Sid said, impatiently. 

"Then why you're not talking to me?" Ritika asked. 

"I thought you've understood me like these guys. But, no. You didn't. Or may be it was my mistake to give you false hopes. And I'm sorry for that. I thought if I continue talking to you then it'll lead to even more false hopes for you. So, it's better for me to stay away" Sid said all in a go. 

"No, Sid. It wasn't your mistake. It was my mistake to take your friendship as love. In this one week, I've realized that I can't live without your friendship. I just want to ask you to give my friend back to me. And also because of my stupidity all of us are suffering without spending time together. I don't want it to continue like this. I want our old days back. Our gang back together happily again. So, can you please forgive your friend for her stupidity. I promise I will never ever repeat it again" Ritika apologized sincerely as her eyes got moist. 

"You should never bring that stupid topic again" after listening to her sincere words, Sid let go his anger and said in a stern voice. 

"I'll never. Promise" Ritika pinched her neck as she promised. She let out a sigh of relief as finally the heavy weight over her chest got faded away. 

"Thank god! Finally it's settled" Arun felt relieved as placed his one arm around Sid and the other around Ritika.  

"So, atleast now you're coming to the party, right?" Arun looked at Sid. 

"You and your damn party" Sid rolled his eyes while others chuckled. 

After a whole one week, they finally got back to their happy self. They chatted for a little while and left to their classroom after the break got over. 

After one hour, they got a leisure class. All the students went to library, only Sid and the gang were there in the classroom.  When the gang was busy talking among themselves, naina went near them. 

"What do you want now?" Arun looked at naina in disdain. 

Every person in the gang hated naina. They were well aware of all the filthy things she had done to get near sid, only because he was of her status. 

Naina, though felt annoyed at arun's hateful look, she faked a smile at him and turned to sid. 

"Can I also be your friend?" Naina asked sid, trying to act as a nice girl. 

"Do you even know the meaning of being friend?" Arun scoffed at her. 

While others remained silent as they didn't want to bother with naina's drama. 

"I'm talking to sid" at last naina couldn't act anymore as she said rudely, looking at arun. 

"Oh.. then let me ask him. Sid, are you interested in listening to her?" Arun asked sid, who shot an angry glance at him, which he had expected already. 

"See, even he didn't want to listen to your nonsense. You can leave now" arun turned to naina and said. 

"Why you people treat me like a villain always? I thought it's because I proposed sid. But, ritika too did the same, right? Then why she can be his friend and not me?" Naina yelled out angrily. 

"Because she never did something like mixing drug in his drink to make him unconscious and then click some filthy pictures with him" ruchi, who kept silence till the moment, couldn't hold back as naina yelled at sid, pointing ritika. 

From the first day of their college, naina had an eye on sid. She always tried to get close to him, showing off her richness. But, sid never looked at her and only talked to her rarely. 

Meanwhile, nitesh and ruchi, who were neighbours, got together with each other. Ritika and ruchi were best friends since their school days. Through nitesh, ruchi and ritika became friends of sid and arun, who were the only best friends of nitesh. And that's how the gang had built a thick friendship within a few days. 

On the day of their college fest, naina, who was fed up with Sid's ignorance towards her, thought of a plan. She mixed some drug in a drink and somehow reached it to sid. She thought, if she could get proofs of sid and her being together, then he couldn't reject her anymore, considering his family's reputation. 

However, to her misfortune, before she could do anything, arun and nitesh, who were searching for sid, had reached there and found her trying to click picture with semiconscious sid. 

From that day, sid and the gang despised her. And sid stopped even talking to her, though she tried a lot. 

"I'm going to library" sid spoke up, without giving a damn to naina's presence. 

"I'm also coming" nitesh too followed sid and they left the room. 

"If you move aside, we'll leave too" arun said with a fake politeness. 

Naina, who stood blocking their way, gritted her teeth as she stomped her foot to move aside. But, her leg got hit by the bench. 

"Oops... You should keep your eyes at its place. Not at the top of your head" arun made a sarcastic statement. 

Ruchi and ritika giggled making naina to glare at them.

In sports hour, Sid with Arun and Nitesh went to ground. Ruchi and Ritika stayed back in the class along with few other students. 

"I'll go return the book in library" Ruchi said to Ritika as she got up from her place and left to library. 

A little while later after Ruchi left the class, a girl walked over to Ritika and said "Ritika, your friends are calling you to the terrace. They're waiting for you there". 

"But, why?" Ritika questioned. But, the girl didn't reply and left from there. 

With a puzzled look, Ritika started to terrace. On the way, she went to library for Ruchi. But, she didn't find her there. She thought they all might actually be waiting for her in terrace. 

When Ritika reached terrace, she found it empty. "They're not here" she mumbled to herself as she walked towards railing, from where the entire campus can be viewed. 

She looked down and spotted the boys in the ground. When she moved to her right, she found Ruchi in the third floor compound, the area of washrooms. 

"That girl played a prank on me" finding her friends at their work, Ritika realized that she was being played. 

"You're finally here" Ritika heard a voice from her behind and turned to find Naina before her. 

"You must be feeling happy, right. After all, Sid accepted you as friend again" Naina walked ahead and stood at two steps away from Ritika. 

"If you remember well, he had given a chance of being his friend to you too. But, you kicked it off with your cheap mentality" Ritika said, looking straight at her. 

"That's because I love him" Naina stared at her angrily. 

"You call it love?" Ritika looked down at naina. 

"I'm better than you. Atleast I didn't forget my love just because he's not loving me back and acted to be his friend again" Naina said, tauntingly. 

"That was actually my mistake to take his caring friendship as love. I realized it and made it correct. And even if I've really loved him, I wouldn't have done anything like you to hurt him. Because love cannot be forced" Ritika replied firmly and tried to leave the place. 

"You can't leave just like that" Naina held Ritika's hand and stopped her. 

"I didn't call you here to listen your lecture and let you go" she continued. 

"So, you called me here with a lie" Ritika stared at her. 

"I've realized one thing that Sid loves neither of us. But, you're lucky enough to have his friendship atleast. And me, I only get his hatred" Naina said, gritting her teeth. 

"That you brought it on yourself" Ritika mocked as she tried to get her hand out of Naina's hold. 

Ritika's comment annoyed Naina to the maximum extent. 

"Well, fine. If I can't get anything from Sid then no one else should get it" Naina said, evilly. 

Even before Ritika could understand Naina's words properly, she was pushed back with a force. 

Unprepared of the sudden force, Ritika couldn't control it and lost her balance as she fell backwards from above the railing and eventually hit her head to the ground with a thud sound. 

"Now go celebrate his friendship in the hell" Naina smiled satisfyingly as she looked down at Ritika, who was lying on the ground unmoved. 

As soon as Ritika hit the ground, all the other students present at the surroundings rushed towards her. 

Ruchi, who just returned to the classroom, found Ritika missing there. Soon someone ran in to the room and informed about Ritika. 

Shocked as hell, Ruchi ran out of the classroom and reached the area, where Ritika was lying in the pool of her own blood. 

"Ritika" Ruchi shouted and sat down, taking Ritika's head in her lap. 

"Ritu.. open your eyes" Ruchi tapped on her cheeks as tears flowing down continuously. 

Sid, Arun and Nitesh rushed to the place and shocked to see Ritika in such a state. 

"Oh my god, what happened?" Arun was tensed as he kneeled down beside Ruchi. 

Ritika was semi-conscious as she tried to open her eyes. Her vision was blurry but, she could hear her friends calling her. 

"Ritika, open your eyes, look at us" Sid tried calling her. Meanwhile Nitesh called for an ambulance. 

With much difficulty Ritika opened her eyes and looked at Ruchi crying her heart out. 

"Na... Nai.. na" Ritika tried to speak but she couldn't. Her eyes again closed back and her hand fell down as she lost her consciousness. 

"Ritu, no.. please open your eyes" Ruchi continued to cry as she kept tapping Ritika's cheeks, hoping she would wake up.  

Soon the ambulance arrived at the campus and they rushed to the hospital. 

After performing the surgery, doctors were able to save Ritika but she went in to coma. And doctors couldn't guarantee as to when she would wake up.

Sid and his friends understood Ritika was saying Naina's name before she fell unconscious. And they also understood Naina must had done something. 

However, when they went to college to question Naina about the same, Sid was called to the office room. 

HOD thrown a paper on his desk when Sid entered in. Sid slowly took it and was shocked to read what was written on it. 

"Your classmates found this in Ritika's bag" HOD sir said, sternly. 

Without uttering a word, Sid came out of the room and went to his friends, who were waiting for him. 

"Sid, have you told sir about what that b!t¢# Naina did to our Ritika" Arun asked impatiently as Sid reached them. 

Sid silently forwarded the paper in his hand to his friends. 

"Holy shit! It's impossible" Arun spoke in shock after reading. 

"Ritika committing suicide? What nonsense is this?" Ruchi was frustrated. 

The paper which HOD gave to Sid was a note typed on a white paper. It was written in Ritika's point of view. It read that she was committing suicide as Sid wasn't accepting her love. 

"Guys, it's a typed one. Ritika didn't write it" Nitesh said looking at the paper. 

"Naina only did this too. I won't leave that bit¢#" Arun said, furiously and went to search for her. 

"It's all because of me" Sid finally broke his silence. 

"No, Sid. It's not your fault" Nitesh said, comforting sid. 

"But, it happened because of me. Ritika had to face this because of me" Sid continued, guiltily. 

"Stop blaming yourself, Sid. You're not responsible for this" Ruchi said to Sid. 

No matter what they said, Sid couldn't stop feeling guilty for Ritika's condition. 

A few minutes later Arun returned being even more frustrated. 

"Psycho Naina didn't come to college. And no one knows where she is" Arun informed in annoyance. 

They then realized that it was all Naina's plan. First she pushed Ritika from the terrace, where no one saw her. Then kept a fake suicide note in Ritika's bag, making all to believe that she tried to kill herself as she couldn't bear Sid's rejection. 

Almost all the students of their class had witnessed Sid's ignorance towards Ritika in the past one week and they all believed it to be an actual suicide. With everything cleverly planned by Naina, Sid and his friends couldn't do anything.

Roli and sameer stood stunned after knowing what all had happened. 

"That girl is indeed a psycho" sameer uttered in shock. 

Whilst roli didn't speak anything and silently watched sid. At the moment she realized why sid always said to stay away from naina. It's all because he was worried that naina might hurt her. 

Sid looked at roli watching him. He moved near her and softly said "please, let's go back". 

Roli was surprised as it was the first time sid talking to her using 'please'. He would only order but never requested her for anything. 

Roli nodded her head in acceptance, giving a bit of relief to sid.

So, by looking at the pics I think you might got some clues as to what might happen in further updates 😉 keep guessing 🙃. And yeah, I know there's no rosid scene in this update. Here I've tried to finish ritika's incident and give the reason why sid and gang hate naina so much. And it turned out too long than I've expected. No worries, next update I'll pakka give rosid scene, promise. Last but not least, thank you so much all of you for your support. Really means a lot!
