CHAPTER 2
His eyes stopped scanning the text on the document he was holding, raising his gaze little above, he stared at nothing in particular as his mind tried to process the words which he heard few seconds ago.
"Arnav..." lavanya's soft voice reached his ears through Bluetooth. He didn't reply instead he stood there silently watching the steady and clear water of swimming pool. His mind was swinging between the events of yesterday night and what Lavanya had just said.
"Arnav..." Lavanya called his name for the second time gathering her trembling voice when there was no reply from him. He replied "if that's what you want, then i don't have any problem with it." Lavanya asked "but what do you want?"
"i don't know sweet heart. I feel like it has been very long since we met. Last six months was hell without you and another six months means..." he stumbled as he couldn't find correct words. He continued "I don't want to force you. But please come back, sweet heart. I need you now to be with me; to support me; to tell me that everything will be fine. I know that you really want to be there but i need you here like anything. I am sorry if i am forcing you but..."
Lavanya cut him off saying "Listen, Arnav. The program was really good and kids here were very nice. That's why i asked you. Even i don't want to stay here anymore..."
"Then please come back." He pleaded. Lavanya replied "i will but what happened to you. Is everything fine?" he paused for a moment thinking whether to tell her or not. He simply said "I don't want to discuss about it through phone."
"okay." Her voice was filled with understanding. "We will discuss about it tomorrow when I reach Delhi provided if you have time to meet me!" she giggled when she heard his reply "are you kidding me? I already started the countdown for your arrival." She exclaimed "you are crazy!" he mocked "of course, I am! Tell me who in right frame of mind will fall for you?"
"Arnav..." she hissed. He smiled before adding "i love you. See you tomorrow."
"Finished wooing your girl friend, Mr. Raizada?" he turned to Kushi still a smile playing on his lips. He asked her "I think so. What do you think? How it went?"
He chuckled when Kushi mimicked his serious tone. "Are you kidding me? I don't want to force you but I want you to be here with me." She too giggled before adding "I think, now Lavanya will be busy, thanking all her gods to have a boy friend like you!" he was astonished. "Really?"
"Of course who can withstand Arnav Singh Raizada's charm?" she answered him honestly before bursting into giggles again. He watched her giggling and found himself getting lost with her sound. He still couldn't believe that she is doing all this. This was not the Kushi who he met nearly six months ago.
She stopped giggling and without looking at him, she started to speak in serious tone "will you stop looking at me like that before i conclude that you love me more than you love Lavanya?" he tore his gaze from her face as he said "impossible! I don't think I can love anyone more than I love Lavanya!"
She turned to see his face and was little hurt when the look in his eyes supported what she heard a moment ago. His eyes were filled with love but sadly it was not for her. She once again felt his gaze on her and lifted her eyes to meet his but immediately dropped hers down unable to withstand his heated gaze. She warned him "I told you not to look at me like that."
"Why are you doing this, Kushi?" he asked her in composed tone. She asked him back "how many times are you going to ask this question?"
"I will keep on asking it until you tell me the truth." He said still in calm tone. She answered looking at the ground "I already told you the truth. I am doing it for my child." He snapped "lie."
She closed her eyes in frustration and quickly mustered her will-power before dared to look at him and then barked "fine. I am doing this because i want to destroy your family."
"Better lie." He said casually. She looked at him disbelief and knots formed in her stomach as she understood that he had already caught her. The two reasons, she told were just part of her motive. "So Lavanya is coming tomorrow?" she changed the topic praying that he must not ask anything further.
He nodded noticing how hopelessly she changed the topic. It didn't take him minutes to figure out that she was lying. Now he noticed that whatever be the real reason, she is scared of it. She is not only frightened to tell him the reason but she itself is terrified with it. He said "changing the topic is not going to help you, Kushi. Do i look like a fool to believe it?"
"You are not a fool. But I don't find you as brainy also. Six months, of your time, is all what I wanted from you Arnav. If you had asked Lavanya to stay at Bangalore for another six months, then your problem would have been solved." She sighed in relief seeing him getting angry and she knew he will forget his question. The answer to his question will be the last thing she wanted to discuss now.
He retorted "this is what the difference between you and me, kushi. I will never do such cheap things. I can never betray Lavanya!"
"Really?" she shot back as her rage reached its maximum limit, making her to forget she was successful in changing the subject. "You won't betray her?" she mocked before questioning him in top of her voice "then what did you do with me three months before, Arnav? Are you telling me that sleeping with another girl when your girl friend is away does not comes under betrayal list?"
He flinched, closing his eyes for a second, and then he directly looked at her eyes before talking in cold voice. "You know it, Kushi. We both know why i did that!?!"
She stepped closer to him, her eyes filled with loathing; she began to speak in low voice "of course, i know; because you wanted spoil my family's reputation; because you wanted to break my family; because you wanted to destroy my father."
"No." He growled in firm and confident voice. They stared at each other's eyes, both not wanting to back off. "Then why did you do that?" she asked the question which was piercing her mind for last three months. She tried to figure it out all by herself but she couldn't come up with any convincing answer knowing Arnav too well that he won't do such things without any grounds.
"You can't answer my question, can you? But i knew the answer. You did this because you thought you can win my father by using me." She told him. "No" Came the reply.
"Then?" she raised an eyebrow but froze when he replied in furious voice "because I wanted your father to know how it feels when someone threw a blank cheque on your face after sleeping with your daughter."
She stepped back little, noticing the pain in his eyes. "I wanted him to know that girls do have heart and family besides their luscious body." He pointed his finger as he said "and more importantly I wanted him to know that rich people, like you, are not the almighty who can decide fate of middle class people like us."
She gasped taking in the fact she had just heard. His eyes were red filled with pain and anger. He turned his heel to leave when he heard her voice. "thanks." He looked at her in surprise but what he heard later made his blood to boil.
"Thanks, Arnav. Thanks for taking pity on my sixty year old father and for deciding to teach him moral values and also in that process, killing him." She finished with mock seriousness. He grasped her shoulders in deadly way; he directly looked at her eyes and said "I didn't kill your father. How will I be responsible if your own brother killed him?"
"You started it, Arnav." She argued back. He replied "you know what? If i had chance then I wouldn't have killed him so easily. I believe you father deserved more for what he did."
"Then you deserve more than that, for what you did to me, Arnav." she commented sarcastically. She was in no mood to back off. Her father might have been bad. But that didn't give Arnav any right to punish her father; to destroy her family.
Arnav closed his eyes in guilt. This is not what he wanted to do. Everything got messed up. He replied in hurtful voice. "Kushi, i never wanted to hurt you. What I did to you was wrong. But I did what I felt right at that time."
"Good one. I will keep that in my mind and this dialogue may help me when you blame me later for destroying your family." She shot back. "Kushi, I told you many times. The problem is between you and me. Don't involve my family in this dirty game." He warned her. His family was ruined seven years back and it was just ruins which were left now and he cannot afford to lose it also.
"That's what exactly you did! You dragged my entire family into the dirty game of yours. Then why shouldn't I?" she asked him. He replied "both are different, Kushi. You don't know what your father did? If you know..."
Kushi cut him off "I don't want to know it, Arnav. Because i am sure, whatever might be the reason, it doesn't give you right to do what you did! What you did is nothing but a sin. But you don't have to worry that it will add to your sins list; because i am going to make it equal by doing exactly what you did. I will destroy each and every one of your family. I promise you Arnav. I will destroy each one; your nani; your sister; prem and pia. Every one of them. Then our scores will be equal." She smirked.
He stared at her vengeance filled eyes in disbelief before saying "you know what? Many times i have wondered how on the earth, a devil like your father can have a daughter like you. But you proved me wrong. You are no better than him. You are just like your father."
Kushi watched his retreating back, gritting her teeth; she tapped the ground with her foot in anger. How dare he compared her with her father; her father was the person she hate the most after Arnav. She hates them both. They both played with her life and smashed it in every possible way. "If you think like that, then I will show you what really the daughter of Aditya gupta capable of doing!"

Kushi nodded at Anjali who had called her for dinner. Both Anjali and nani were very nice to her and she felt warm after long time. As she came out of the guest room, she heard laughter's of prem and pia, who were being chased by their uncle. She watched them as Arnav got hold of pia and lifted her off ground making her to giggle more.
She was observing them longingly when she heard arnav's voice. "Kushi, what are you doing? Go down, nani is waiting for you." He talked with her as if nothing had happened. 'Forget it, Kushi. Dont fall for the family which will never be yours! Remember why you have come here.' She told herself.
"Di, food is too good." Kushi exclaimed before quickly adding "I think you won't mind if I call you, di." She smiled when Anjali gave her approval not noticing her brother's annoyance. Winning his families trust was her first motive.
"How can i call you?" prem asked Kushi making her to roll her eyes to Arnav who was already staring at her. She wriggled her brow, smirking little she said "how about ma..." but she was interrupted by Arnav himself. "maasi." He finished it glaring at kushi. "But Kushi is too young for it. Better you call her di."
'He is scared' she concluded. Yesterday he was lying when he told her that he doesn't give damn if she tells his family about the truth. Knowing that she exactly had only one more day to make him agree, she got ready to play little more.
She looked fiercely at Arnav as she got up. Her one hand gripped the chair more tightly as other hand moved to her forehead. "Kushi." She heard him call her name concernedly and she let herself to fall back. She smiled inwardly as his strong arms caught her.
"i will call the doctor." She heard him say. "Arnav, i am fine; just tired. There is no need to call doctor and mess up things." She told him clearly warning him what might happen if doctor comes there. She saw him froze for a second and then patted herself for she did. Fear. She had implanted fear in his mind. Knowing that he himself will come to her later, she told Anjali that she needs to rest and left the place.
"Pia, what are you doing with my mobile?" Kushi frowned as she came out of bathroom. "Hand it back to me." She ordered the little girl. But pia was quicker for her. She climbed the bed and ran from one side to other making Kushi to follow her. Finally Kushi got her and hugging pia to her, she tickled her making pia to giggle.
"You know what? You are so evil, just like your mama! That's why i love you!" she exclaimed before leaving a peck on pia's cheek lovingly. It was then she felt his presence and she turned to look at Arnav who looked like he was ready to kill her. She let pia down and asked her to go to her mom. She then turned to closet completely ignoring his presence when she felt him tugging her wrist.
"You faked it!" Arnav was more than furious. Five minutes before she fainted and now she is running and playing. She didn't reply instead she tried to free herself from his clutch. He grabbed her by shoulders making her to face him; he asked the same question again. "Arnav, leave me. It hurts." She said trying to free herself. But he didn't let her go until she shouted "yes, i faked it. So what?" he immediately let her go, making her to stumble.
"How can you go so low, Kushi? You faked pregnancy..." he turned to other side in disgust. She blinked as everything started to spin. "ar..nav." she managed to whisper and felt little relieved when strong pair of arms caught her before she fell unconscious.
