Chapter 10
Ten: All of Me
"Randhir," Sanyukta said, as they stepped on his doorstep. She was leaning on him, unable to walk straight. "I have something to tell you."
Randhir fumbled around for his key with his left hand, having a tough time because of Sanyukta's weight. "Hmmm," he said, finding his keys. Finally unlocking the door, he helped her inside, before locking it behind him.
"I need to tell you that... that... you are an MCP but I," she said, her head rolling on to his shoulders, "But I..."
"Come on Sanyukta," he said, dragging her across the living room. Realizing that this would take all night if he continued to drag her, he picked her up in his arms in one swift movement.
"Why are you carrying me you MCP!" she asked, furrowing her eyebrows and shaking her legs. "You MCP, you control freak, I hate you! I hated you in college too!"
His heart aching at her confession, he continued to walk to his bedroom. Upon reaching, he placed her on the bed gently and removed her heels from her feet. "Go to sleep," he ordered.
She grabbed his shirt and pulled her towards him, bringing his lips close to hers.
"I hate you... I can't believe there was one time I loved you," she whispered.
Randhir's heart leaped out of his chest at her confession. He had an inkling that she might have had feelings for him once, but he had never guessed that she would have ever accepted that she loved him.
"You... you loved me?" Randhir asked, feeling a burst of hope explode within his body.
"Yes, but not anymore you MCP!"
Sighing sadly, Randhir got up, but she grabbed his hand to stop him. "Sleep next to me. I need to tell you a bedtime story."
"A story? Sanyukta do I look like a child to you?"
Then suddenly Sanyukta's eyes started to fill with tears. "Nobody wants to listen to me? Nobody loves me. Why do I even try?"
"Come on, don't cry. Fine," he said, sighing resignedly, lying down next to her as she smiled widely at him.
Just seeing her smile filled his whole body with happiness. A smile reached his lips too. She held his hand softly.
"Okay, there was a girl - a Princess - whose name was Sanyukta Agarwal. She went to FITE."
Randhir started to chuckle. Of course, an intoxicated person wouldn't be able to come up with something more creative. "Mhm, go on," he encouraged.
"She hated this boy, Randhir Singh Shekhawat. He used to annoy her so much! He was an MCP. He hated girls, and Sanyukta hated him. They fought like Tom and Jerry."
Randhir smiled, recalling their old FITE memories.
"But one day they kissed with hate. Sanyukta didn't think of it until later on. Later on she realized she loved Randhir. She wanted to kiss him more. But that time Parth Kashyap came into the story."
"Is Parth the Prince?" Randhir asked, feeling his heart ache once again. This story was only a reminder that he was too late to confess his feelings to Sanyukta.
"Waaait Randhir, let me finish my story!" she said, yawning. She leaned into Randhir's chest, trying to cuddle with him. "Parth asked her to be his girlfriend, and Sanyukta agreed because she thought that her best friend would keep her the happiest. Soon Randhir told her he loved her, but Sanyukta had already given herself to Parth and she couldn't back off a commitment. Sanyukta fell for Parth slowly, and then... and then... he broke her heart."
A tear fell from Sanyukta's eye onto Randhir's shirt. Randhir stroked her hair affectionately. "Shh, it'll be okay," he whispered, pulling her body closer to him.
"But... you know one thing? Sanyukta never loved Parth the same way she loved Randhir. She respected Parth, gave everything to him, but only Randhir made her heart beat faster, only Randhir made her feel butterflies in her stomach, only Randhir touched her soul. Parth only touched her heart. Even though Sanyukta loved Parth, the Prince was never Parth. The Prince of the story was always Randhir. But he's an MCP again and he won't listen to Sanyukta's heart again and someone else will steal the Princess from him, again."
Then she snuggled up to him once more, and fell asleep instantly.
"The hero is still Randhir. I love you Randhir," she mumbled against his chest in her sleep, leaving Randhir shocked.
A part of him was happy that he was always in Sanyukta's heart, but the more powerful part of him was upset that she wasted so much time on Parth, when they could have been together this whole time and she would have never gotten hurt.
"I love you too Sanyukta," he whispered, kissing the top of her head and falling asleep effortlessly.
