Chapter Two (PART-2)

Khurana Villa

Same Day, Evening

Dipanita was sitting on her bed with the back against her bed headboard. Her television was on and she was watching Kaal tak news channel that still updating recorded broadcasting of Palghar.

But the current status of Palghar is still the same as at the bottom of the screen, there was a NEWS FLASH.

"5 people died in flood"

Ten minutes later.

BREAKING NEWS

"2 more dead bodies found"

The reporter was announcing same information about Hotel Rosegad and flood due to heavy rain.

Dipanita was watching news without flashing any tension on her face. She was drinking milk in a small oval cup.

As she finished drinking milk, she checked her wristwatch calmly.

She kept the oval cup on the side of her bed table and closed TV with her black remote control.

She screamed loudly, "Alina"

Alina didn't responded.

Dipanita repeatedly screamed with Alina's name. But she was not getting any respond from her side. Therefore, she decides to come out of her bedroom and see where Alina is gone.

She stood outside the bedroom door, leaned her head towards the wall, and started walking downward from the wooden contemporary staircase.

"Alina kaha ho?" Dipanita screamed again.

"Haan mom. Aagayi." Alina in her pigtail hair came running towards the staircase and continued with her talking, "aap ne bulaya?"

"Kab se bula rahi hoon tumhe. Sunai nahi de raha tha?" Dipanita yelled by clenching her teeth.

"Sorry mom. Main apne kamre main thi isliye sunai nahi dia." Alina responded hesitantly.

"Jeh nahi aaya abhi tak?" Dipanita asked casually.

Alina looked at wall watch and responded promptly, "nahin. Aaj bhai ko late hua."

"Jeh ko call karo aur usse kaho jald se jald ghar aa jaaye. Mujhe usse kuch zaruri baat karni hain." Dipanita strictly voiced and turned her back towards Alina to go back in her room.

Alina move towards the middle of hallway, where there is a small wooden phone table made of four legs. She picks the receiver and starts dialling a number.

Phone rings…

"Hello bhai!" Alina speaks softly. She continued in same way, "Kaha ho tum?"

Jeh teases on the phone, "tumhare piche."

Alina confusingly responses, "mere piche?" she turns her head back and two emotions flashes on her face. She was shocked and happy at the same time.

Alina hugged Jeh who was standing in his casual wear with a brown bag in his one hand and wet umbrella in other hand. He don't wear uniform as he is senior CBI officer.

He laughed looking at Alina's expression and teased her.

"Bhai tumko late kyun hua aaj?" Alina asked worriedly.

"Arey kitni tez barish ho rahi hain. Upar se Mumbai ka traffic iss barish main aur jada badh jata hain." Jeh frustratedly responded.

"Main toh ghar hi aa raha tha. Tumhe call karne ki kya zarurat padi?" Jeh asked concernly.

"Mom ko tum se kuch zaruri baat karna hain. Isliye unhone kaha tumhe call kar ke bulane ko."

"Tumne fhir se koi gadbad toh nahi kia?" Jeh teased.

"Main kyun kuch gadbad karu?" Alina innocently replied.

"Theek hain. Pehle kapde badal leta hoon, fhir mom se baat karne jaaunga."

Jeh was completely wet. He hold wet umbrella, which he gives to Alina for drying it.

He moves towards his room, which is on the left side of hallway, just behind the staircase and below Dipanita's room.

He changes his outfit quickly and decides to visit his mom in her room that is on the first floor of their Villa.

Jeh knocks the door of Dipanita's room.

"Andar aao Jeh." Dipanita can sense her son due to which she knows that who is outside.

"Mom aap ko mujhse zaruri baat karni thi?" Jeh asked hesitantly while standing in front of her bed.

The TV was still off and Dipanita was sitting on the bed in the same way, as earlier.

"Jeh baitho." Dipanita pats on her white flowery bedsheet and hints Jeh to sit beside her.

Jeh forcibly smiles and sits next to her.

"Mom boliye?" Jeh said casually.

Dipanita: Jeh jo baat main tumse kehna chahti hoon woh shayad tumhe acha na lage.

Jeh: Mom aisi kya baat hain jo mujhe acha nahi lagega.

Dipanita: Jeh aaj bahut jada barish ho raha hain.

Jeh: Mom please, ghuma-fhira ke baat mat kijiye. Saaf-saaf bataiye.

Dipanita: Main news channel dekh rahi thi.

Jeh: Toh?

Dipanita: News channel main baar-baar Palghar main bhaad ka jikar hua.

Jeh angrily stood from the bed. He groaned, "Stop. Aap aage kuch nahi kahegi."

Dipanita too stood from her bed and voiced upset, "meri baat toh pura suno?"

Jeh frowned, "Palghar se juda kuch nahi janna hain mujhe."

Dipanita: Kisi ki jaan khatre main hain. Tab bhi nahin sunoge?

Jeh turns his head behind to see Dipanita's face.

Jeh: Kis ki jaan khatre main hain?

Dipanita: Piya.

Jeh: Kaun Piya?

Dipanita: Arnab Dobriyal ki beti Piya.

Jeh: Toh? Usse aap ka kya lena dena?

Dipanita: Usse na sahi. Par uss ke pita se toh lena dena hain mera. Woh hamare pariwar ka dost hain. Arnab aur uski Patni Madhu dono bahut fhikar kar rahe hain Piya ki. Aur unhe sirf tumse umeed hain.

Jeh: Unhe kahiye mujhse umeed lagana chod de. Main Palghar nahi jaaunga.

Dipanita: Tum CBI officer ho. Kya tumhare liye ek insan ki jaan ki koi value nahi hain?

Jeh: Value hain mom. Bahut value hain. Lekin, Palghar nahi jaaunga.

Dipanita: Jeh main tumse request nahi kar rahi hoon. Main tumhe order de rahi hoon. Tum Palghar jaaoge. Hotel Rosegad jaaoge.

Jeh stares at Dipanita in confusion: Kya kaha aap ne?

Dipanita: Haan Jeh. Piya aur uss ke dost Palghar ke Hotel Rosegad main hain.

Jeh angrily questioned: Uss ladki ka dimag kharab ho gaya hain? Woh waha kya kar rahi hain?

Dipanita: Pata nahin. Mujhe sirf itna pata hain ke Piya aur uss ke dost Palghar gaye hain.

Jeh: Lekin main waha nahi jaaunga. Hamesha nirash hoke waha se lauta hoon.

Dipanita: Iss baar tum nirash nahi hoge. Iss baar tumhe waha koi na koi sabut zarur milega.

Jeh: Nahi mom. Mujhe nahi lagta hain. Aab tak ke jitne bhi tourist missing hue hain, ek bhi surag uss hotel se nahi mila.

Dipanita: Woh isliye Jeh, kyunki tum din main waha gaye the. Iss waqt raat hain. Tumhe koi na koi surag zarur milega.

Jeh: I wish aisa hota mom. Agar main waha gaya toh woh log mere saamne apne asli roop main nahi aayenge aur nahin mujhe unke khilaf koi surag milega.

Dipanita: Milega zarur milega. Aaj amavas ki raat hain. Koi aur din woh tumhare saamne aaye ya na aaye. Aaj ke din woh apne asli roop main zarur aayenge.

Jeh: Theek hain mom. Agar aap ko aisa lagta hain ke waha jane se mujhe surag milega. Toh main waha jaaunga.

Dipanita: Piya aur uss ke dosto ko kuch nahi hona chahiye Jeh.

Dipanita holds her hand and insist Jeh to promise her that he would take care of Piya and her friends.

Jeh promises and nods his head.

Jeh: Main aap ko vachan deta hoon. Main Piya aur uss ke dosto ko lekar hi wapis lautunga.

A flash of happiness visible on Dipanita's face.

Jeh: Lekin Piya kaun hain yeh main kaise pehchanuga? I mean, maine usse kabhi dekha nahin hain.

Dipanita smiles: Jeh sab se pehle tum Arnab ke ghar jaao. Unn se Piya ke bare main aur uss ke dosto ke bare main jitna information jama kar sako, utna kar lo.

Jeh nods his head: Theek hain mom. Sab se pehle wahi jata hoon.

Dipanita wishes Jeh good luck and hugs him with a happy smile on her face.

Jeh leaves house.

Alina hears everything from outside Dipanita's room. She enters inside giving a serious look to Dipanita.

Dipanita surprisingly looks at Alina: Alina kya baat hain? Tum kamre ke bahar kya kar rahi thi?

Alina wraps her arms against her chest and gives a serious look. Many questions popped in her head which she wanted to clear by asking her mom. Therefore, she decides to confront her.

Alina: Aap bhai ko jaan-bujh ke maut ke muh main kyun daal rahe hain?

Dipanita laughs giving a surprise look: Maine kya kia?

Alina: Mom, maine sab sunn liya hain. Aap mujhse kuch chupa nahi sakti hain.

Dipanita: Kis bare main?

Alina: Palghar aur Rosegad.

Dipanita rolls her eyes from left to right. She became serious and asked, "Tum meri jasusi kar rahi thi?"

Alina frowned, "nahi mom. Sach janne ki koshish kar rahi thi."

Dipanita confusingly asked, "Kaisa sach?"

Alina: Yahi, aap ne bhai ko Rosegad kyun bheja?

Dipanita: Jab tumne sab sunn liya hain toh mere muh se kya sunna chahti ho?

Alina: Sirf sach.

Dipanita: Sach wahi hain jo tumne suna.

Alina gets angry. She raised her eyebrows and frowningly replied, "nahi mom. Yeh sach nahi hain. Sach toh yeh hain ke aap ne jaan-bujh ke bhai ko uss bhooto ke hawale kar dia. Yeh jante hue bhi ke bhai apna asli pehchan nahi janta. Fhir bhi aap ne usse waha bheja."

Dipanita groaned: Yeh sach nahi hain. Maine jo kia Piya aur uss ke dosto ko waha se nikalne ke liye kia. Sirf Jeh hain jo sahi maayne mai Piya aur uss ke dosto ko bacha sakta hain.

Alina clenches her index and thumb together and responds angrily, "sahi kaha aap ne. Bhai usse bacha sakta hain. Lekin saath hi usse yeh bhi pata chal jaayega ke woh kaun hain."

Dipanita: Toh kya karti main? Piya aur uske dosto ko marne du?

Alina: Maine yeh toh nahi kaha. Lekin, jab bhai ko yeh pata chalega ke woh kaun hain. Tab jante hain uss pe kya beetega?

Suddenly, Neel in his pista casual shirt enters Dipanita's room, halts Alina and Dipanita's conversation.

Neel: Kya baat ho rahi hain yaha par?

He puts his both the hands inside his cream pant pockets.

Dipanita tilted her head towards Neel. She smiles and surprisingly said, "Tum? Itni jaldi aa gaye? Jo kaha tha woh pata kia?"

Alina turned her head back to see Neel.

Neel: Haan mom. Pata kia. Par kafi ajeeb hain.

Dipanita: Kya ajeeb hain?

Neel: Rosegad ka malik koi royal's hain. Koi Raichand naam ka.

Dipanita hangs her mouth open in shock. Her eyes widely opened.

Dipanita screamed: Raichand's?

Neel: Haan mom. Par aap itni chauk kyun gayi?

Dipanita: Are you sure woh Raichand's hi hain? Tumhe koi galatfemi toh nahin hua?

Neel: No mom. Pakka Raichand's hain. Sab pata kia maine.

Dipanita looked at Alina tearfully. She holds her arm and cried out a loud. She couldn't believe the owners are Raichand's. She fell down on her knees.

Alina and Neel worriedly asked Dipanita, "mom kya hua? Aap roo kyun rahi hain?"

Dipanita replies cryfully, "mujhse bahut badi galti hua. Mujhe Jeh ko nahin bhejna chahiye tha waha par."

Alina narrowed her eyes and asked, "Kya matlab?"

Dipanita: Raichand's koi mamuli bhoot nahi hain. Woh bhooto ke sardar hain.

Neel: Bhooto ke sardar? Matlab?

Dipanita: Chand Raichand jiss ne apni duniya banaya. Jaha sirf uss ka hukum chalta hain. Woh bhooto ka raja hain. Unka malik aur unka sardar.

Dipanita continued in angry tone: Hasina Raichand jo bhooto ki Malika hain. Abhay Raichand, unn dono ka beta aur bhooto ka raajkumar.

Alina shivers, "aap kaise jante hain unhe?"

Dipanita: Woh hamare pariwar ke sab se purane dushman hain. Mujhse kaha gaya tha ke bhooto ka sardar mar chuka hain. Aur aab sirf mamuli chote-mote bhooto ki aatma bhatak rahi hain.

Neel angrily asked: Kis ne kaha tha aap se yeh baat?

Dipanita: Mere pitaji ne. Marne se pehle unhone bataya tha hamare pariwar ne unn sab ko maar dala hain.

Alina worriedly asked: Mom agar unn sab ko maar dia tha, toh wapis kaise laute woh log?

Dipanita clenches her fist: Yahi toh samajh nahi aa raha. Woh log laute kaise aur itne saal tak mere nazro se bach kaise gaye.

Neel: Aab kya kare hum?

Dipanita: Agar mujhe pehle pata hota ke main apne hi payro pe kulhadi maarne jaa rahi hoon toh shayad khud ko rok leti. Main kisi bhi kimmat pe Jeh aur Raichand's ka aamna-saamna nahin hone dungi. Woh mere bete ko maar denge.

Neel: Mom? Yeh aap kya keh rahi hain?

Dipanita get up from the floor and worriedly raised her hand and hinted Neel to remain quite.

Dipanita wipes her tears and starts dialling Jeh's number from her mobile phone. But his phone is not-reachable.

Dipanita pats on her head and mumbled, "mujhe usse jane hi nahi dena chahiye tha."

Alina glares, "Yeh pehle sochna chahiye tha. Bhai ko bhejne se pehle. Kam se kam Neel ke aane ka intezar toh karti aap?"

Dipanita yells, "Maine yeh soch ke bheja tha ke koi mamuli bhoot hoga. Jeh aasani se usse lipat lega. Par mujhe kya pata tha ke Rosegad ke piche Raichand's honge."

Neel: Mom relax. Aap jada hyper mat hoyiye. Agar Raichand's powerful hain. Toh hum bhi kuch kam nahin hain.

Dipanita: Neel, Raichand's ko underestimate mat karo. Aaj amavas ki raat hain. Aaj raat ko unki shakti humse kahin guna jada hogi. Unhe rok pana hamare liye aasan nahi hain.

Neel: Par mushkil bhi toh nahi hain mom. Hum sab mil ke ladenge toh unhe maar sakte hain.

Dipanita: Nahin Neel. Aaj raat nahin. Aaj raat hum unka saamna itni aasani se nahi kar paayenge. Aaj ki raat unki shakti humse jada takatwar hogi. Sirf Jeh aur Alina hi unhe rok sakte hain.

Alina: Par mom, bhai toh kuch nahin jante hain. Unhe toh apna shakti ka istamal karna bhi nahi aata hain.

Dipanita nods her head and breaths out by taking important decision of her life.

Dipanita: Hum jaayenge. (She paused then continued her talking) Hum Rosegad jaayenge.

Dipanita looks at Neel and commands, "tum Dobriyal house jaao. Waha dekho Jeh hain ya waha se nikal gaya. Jeh waha hua toh hummein Rosegad jane ki zarurat nahi padegi. Lekin, agar woh waha se nikal gaya hain. Toh hummein Rosegad jana hoga."

Neel nods his head and walks out from Dipanita's room.

Dipanita then looks at Alina and commands, "Alina aaj raat soch samajh kar apni shakti ka istamaal karna. Ek bhi galti meri ya tumhari bhai Neel, Jeh ki jaan le sakti hain."

Alina's heart started throbbing in her chest. She gulps her throat and nods her head. Her body shivered and sweated.

Alina knows her slay power is unwanted and harmful. Even, one wrong move can kill her own blood family. She is ready to take risk for saving her blood-brother Jeh.

Alina takes all the necessary tools and equipment's from her room for protecting her loose power that is currently giving strong signal.

Dipanita's heart gives her strong signal that her son Jeh's life would be in danger, if she don't reach at Rosegad on time. Therefore, she don't waste a single moment and takes Alina along with her.

Dobriyal House

"Jeh? Acha hua tum aa gaye." Arnab said in a relaxed tone.

"Mom ne bataya Piya aur uss ke dosto ke bare maine." Jeh hesitantly replied.

Madhu knows Jeh is in her house. Therefore, she brings a tray full of tea and biscuits for Arnab, Jeh and herself.

Jeh disagrees to eat or drink anything. But when Madhu insist to drink tea. He agrees and takes a sip of tea.

Jeh takes a sip of tea: Aunty aap Piya ke bare main jo bhi batah sake, please bataiye.

Madhu: Piya aur uss ke dosto ko-

Jeh interrupts and says, "Piya ke dost nahin. Sirf Piya ke bare main bataiye."

Madhu smiles forcibly, "Piya ko adventures ka kafi shauk hain. Woh aksar trekking, hiking ke liye apne dosto ke saath trip pe jati hain. Iss baar unka program Palghar main trekking ka bana."

Jeh hears everything. He asked, "Par Palghar hi kyun?"

Madhu: Pata nahin. Yeh plan toh Misha ka tha. Uski dost.

Jeh: hmm toh Rosegad hotel main thehrane ka plan kis ka tha?

Arnab interrupts: Suhas, mera dost woh wahi pe aksar jata hain rehne ke liye.

Jeh: Raat main bhi?

Arnab laughs: Nahin. Sirf din main.

Jeh: Suhas kaun hain?

Arnab: Mera dost aur Kabir ke dad.

Jeh: Kabir kaun?

Arnab: Piya ka dost.

Jeh nods his head and responds by clearing his mind, "Oh! Aab samjha. Misha ne plan banaya aur shayad Kabir ne ussi hotel main kamra book karwaya jaha uss ka dad rehta tha. Right?"

Arnab nods his head and replied, "Haan."

Jeh: Kuch aur aap batana chahe toh batah sakte hain.

Arnab: Bhoot ka kafi kisse suna tha. Hum sab ko laga ke sirf udti hui khabar hain. Aaj kal ke zamane main bhoot-pret kaha hote hain.

Jeh smiles and responds softly, "haan uncle. Sahi kaha aap ne. Infact mujhe bhi bhoot hone ka koi bhi surag waha nahi mila tha. Par shayad isliye, kyunki main din main gaya tha. Raat main jane ka mauka hi nahi mila. Par abhi waha jaa raha hoon. Sach kya hain aur jhut kya hain, sab pata lagaunga main."

Arnab: Please meri beti aur uss ke dosto ko sahi-salamat wapis leke aana.

Jeh: Don't worry uncle. Main Piya aur uss ke dosto ko lekar hi lautunga. Warna wapis nahin aaunga.

Madhu worriedly responds, "kya hum bhi tumhare saath chal sakte hain?"

Jeh: Nahi aunty. Aap toh jante hain Palghar main bhaad aa gaya hain. Aur flood main, aap logo ko sambhalu ya Piya aur uss ke dosto ko bachau, mujhe hi samajh nahi aayega. Aap chinta mat ki jiye. Waise bhi maine mom ko promise kia hain-

Arnab interrupts: Kaisa promise?

Jeh again takes a sip of tea and smiles: Piya aur uss ke dosto ko lekar hi lautunga.

Arnab sighs in relief.

Jeh: Piya dekhti kaisi hain? Uss ki koi tasveer aap ke paas hain?

Madhu nods her head and goes in Piya's room to bring her photo.

A man from outside screams.

"Sahab jaldi chaliye? Aur jada der yaha ruke toh Palghar jana mushkil ho jaayega."

"Woh mera driver." Jeh annoyingly replies and continued his talk by keeping tea cup on the glassy table in the middle of sofa, "chalta hoon."

"Piya ki tasveer?" Arnab asked in confusion.

"Koi baat nahi uncle. Rosegad jaa raha hoon. Waha usse dhund lunga main. Aunty ko sorry keh di jiye mere taraf se." Jeh waves his hand and leaves Dobriyal House.

He sits in his car and driver drives away.

Meantime, Madhu returns in the hall with Piya's photo in her hand. She rolled her eyes to see Jeh. But she couldn't see him.

"Jeh kaha gaya?" Madhu asked softly.

"Woh driver chillane laga. Toh Jeh chala gaya. Warna deri hoti na." Arnab hesitantly replied.

"Piya ki tasveer liye bina?" Madhu asked raising her eyebrows.

"Haan. Ussne kaha woh Piya ko Rosegad main dhund lega." Arnab said by wrapping his one arm around Madhu's shoulder.

Madhu and Arnab saw Neel coming from front main door. He ran and entered inside by breathing out loudly.

Arnab worriedly asked: Kya baat hain Neel? Tum haaf kyun rahe ho?

Neel talked above his breath: Woh Jeh-

He holds his stomach as it was fluttering.

Neel continued this time holding his breath: Jeh kaha gaya? Woh aaya tha?

Arnab desperately replied: haan. Tumhare aane ke 2 minute pehle hi chala gaya.

Neel holds his breath and replied: Oh no. Usse rokna hoga.

Arnab desperately asked: Kya baat hain? Usse rokna kyun chahte ho?

Neel avoids talking further: Kuch nahi. Jeh ka call aaye toh keh dena main yaha se nikal gaya Rosegad ke liye.

Arnab impatiently asked: Tum Rosegad jaa rahe ho? Kya baat hain? Waha sab theek toh hain?

Neel: Uncle ghabraye mat. Waha sab theek hain. Main bhi waha jaa rahe hoon, infact mom aur Alina bhi waha jaa rahe hain.

Madhu worriedly asked: Tum log sab waha kyun jaa rahe ho? Piya ko kuch-

Neel interrupts: Aunty negative mat sochiye. Hum sab Piya aur uss ke dosto ko saath main leke lautenge. Aap fhikar mat kijiye.

Madhu breathes out and feels relief.

As Neel walks out from the house, he calls Dipanita on her mobile by scratching on his forehead. He said afraidly, "Mom Jeh yaha se nikal chuka hain. Aap log Palghar ke liye aage badhiye. Main bhi aa raha hoon."

Dipanita voiced loudly, "Theek hain Neel. Bich-bich main Jeh ko call karte rehna. Uss ka number abhi bhi not-reachable aa raha hain."

Neel scratches his forehead and replies calmly, "Ok mom. Main usse call karta rahunga." He sits in his Audi car at the backseat. His driver starts driving and rides away.
