Chapter 8

[NOCOPY]

This week Geet was in a mood for a break but went to the office as the person for whom she took the break was not available. So she went to the office but kept her workload light.

Today, Geet had tried hard to concentrate on work but after knowing he was back home, she could not focus.

“Good evening Ma’am. So early” asked Mina. A little tease, knowing why her ma’am was early.

“Why, I need your permission to come to my own house” “No Ma’am” Mina said, hiding her smile behind her tightly closed lips.

“Get me a coffee” and then Geet turned around to see if he could be seen.

Jigar was passing by “Listen”

“Yes, ma’am” “Woo… Is your sir here”

“No ma’am, sir will be back by 8”

“Hmm… leave”

“He comes by 8. I am here early to talk to him but Mr. Khaddus. What does he keep himself busy in?” she wondered.

Geet went to her room and took a deep breath. Why was she feeling nervous, why is her heart palpitating? She has always been confident and took all situations without hesitation. But today at the thought of talking to him, why was her belly rumbling. He was the most simple man she has ever seen in her life. Also should he not be nervous interacting with ‘The Geet Handa’? She is such a big name. But she knew he would have his usual stone-like expression when he was talking to her. Remembering his unmoved expressions, a smile formed on her face.

Geet got her coffee and snack in her room itself. She tried to bring her focus to various matters going on in the business side. But nothing helped from distracting her.

“No, it’s nothing like that. He is my husband, we are married. And just as Mumma said, I am trying to know him.” She tried to shoo away her excitement which was not in her control anymore.

Geet then got some important calls which helped her to get distracted.

It was 7:30 and Geet involuntarily got up to fix and check herself in the mirror.

“Of course I am Geet Handa, a great combination of beauty, brain and success. It will be a lie if he says he does not fantasy me. I will find out if you are a liar or not Mr. Let me see if you have even guts to accept truth of your heart”

Gaining her confidence, Geet stepped out of her room at 7:55. As she placed her first step on the stairs down, her eyes went on Maan, who was entering the house in his white round neck sports Tee and black track pants. He had a sports bag hung loosely on his shoulder and he turned toward his room drinking water from the water bottle in his hand. He looked all sweaty. It was pretty clear he was coming from a workout

The thought of him during his workout session, brought a feeling of itchiness between her thighs. So he is a workout freak.

Maan threw his bag on the bed, got his shirt out to come out in his black inner vest and poured the water from the bottle on his face to cool down and shook his head to shake off the water when there was a knock on his room.

Who could it be, he wondered. Servants knew they were not allowed to disturb him at this time.

He opened the door to get a surprise. Geet Handa was standing there with a smile on her face. She was well dressed and fresh as if ready to go for office. Why can’t these rich people even be comfortable dressing at their own home?

Though he had no qualms to accept that her looking so pretty and so close to him, was increasing his heartbeat. But then he knew, Geet Handa can increase anyone’s heartbeat.

Anyways, why had ‘The Highness’ taken trouble to visit him.

Geet was completely lost in him. His broad well carved body peeped out from well toned muscles and water droplets dripped on them adding to the raising of her heartbeat. Why is she imagining tasting those salty liquids by rolling her tongue on that shiny golden brown skin? The rawness that he held behind his simplicity.

But has Geet not seen many of her male friends' well-gym bodies? They were well toned too, but never has anyone been able to raise any desire, leave apart the level of the raw desire that this man is raising.

“You?” he broke her trance

“Why don't I have the right to come to my husband’s room?” she asked in her smart way

He sighed and shrugged his shoulder

‘Well, when in the same house, if there is a term used as husband’s room and wife’s room, that itself shows the bridge. But anyways, this whole grand house is yours. Who am I to stop you from visiting any room”

Geet looked at him. She has wronged him and he never missed the chance to show her how wrong she has been in this relationship. Not to get into argument

“Can I come in” he shrugged his shoulders and gave her entry in the room by siding himself.

Geet entered and softly pushed the door to get them some privacy. Maan extended his hand to get his shirt but Geet held his hand “I am you wife” she reminded him

“Ohh… thanks for reminding me. Wish you remember the same when…”

“Listen, I am really sorry for that day. Can we not move on from there?”

“I am sorry for bringing that up. I should stay in my space, I keep forgetting ...” he said dryly

“No, Maan” she paused as she, for the first time took his name. A heartbeat changed its speed but she gathered. She has to break the formality zone as he is not taking any step

“Maan, I am really sorry for that day. I did insult you.But can we now move ahead of that point”

“Move ahead? I don’t think we have any space for that, right?”

What does he mean, is he planning for a divorce just as Mom had predicted? No it never happened in her family and she can’t afford it. Eagles are eying her marriage. It will be all over the news and the share prices will fall like anything.

And above all that, she was interested in him as a whole and cannot let him go. At least not without giving them a chance

“So you are planning for separation” she asked, curious to know his thoughts

“What?” He was surprised by her question. He has compromised with his life to live like this and focus completely on his career and family. But separation never came into his mind. He had mentally prepared himself to survive this relationship the way it is.

“Why did you even put up the act of marriage when you have such thoughts from the very beginning?” he accused her, angry at her mention of separation.

Geet soon realized, like always she again blurted something she should not “Heyy….I was just kidding” she tried diverting the topic.

“Ohh really, I do not know we share that kind of relationship”

Geet sighed. He was a real big khadoos. He can pull her on anything the comes out from her lips.

Does anyone have the guts to answer her back on everything, No, but him.

“And he has rights too..” she thought and smiled to herself which appeared on her face, confusing him, making him narrow his brows.

Geet calmly took the towel on the chair and sensually moved to place it on his bare shoulder, starting to wipe the water droplets which had been teasing her. Ohh yeah, she was Geet Handa, bold and beautiful. Didn’t hesitate to show her intentions

Maan held her hand to stop her

“It’s my wifely right” she reminded him

“Ohh in that case what about my husbandly rights” he looked straight into her eyes, impressing her further. Ohh damn, she has never met this rawness before. The depth and intensity of his deep brown eyes, his well chiseled featured on his on square jawline with sexy beard, topped with his crips and straight words

“Who is stopping you” she said, removing his hand from her and continuing patting towel on his body, wiping it leisurely.

“Who is stopping me? Wow.. a husband is not allowed in his wife’s room and you say who is stopping me?”

After she was done wiping him to her content, she took his shirt and placed on him

“Then I remove that condition. You can move in there.” she said, pulling his shirt on his and placing the first button, moving closer to him.

“So now you have no problem to share your room with a middle class husband”

“We are married and have to give a chance to this marriage. We are somehow bound together forever, so I think we have to start somewhere”

“So, to let you know, things here are little different than your business empire. In this relationship, it will not always work with your thoughts and wishes of convenience. Coming straight, I cannot move to that room. I have been denied entry to the first floor and so I will never go to that floor.”

His words hit reality on Geet. She has a high ego but others also have self respect. And this man in front of her, her husband has that in abundance, she could tell.

“Our parents are expecting us to take a step towards this relationship. How could we keep…”

“Our parents? How do you know what my parents are expecting? And if I am not wrong, my parents wishes are not even in your concern list”

His words were hitting her ego a big time. He was negating everything she was saying. No one has the guts to negate and be so up front with her. Geet had a bad urge to put him in place but she controlled. First, she is the one who came here. Second, whether she likes it or not, his each words were correct. Only the fact that a common man, 9-5 job person is here answering her back with his head held high and she, The Geet Handa is listening.

It was then, Maan’s cell rang with Sameera’s number on it. Geet looked at the number and handed him the phone

“Yeah Sam”

“What?”

“Okay, you wait there, I will drop you on my bike”

“No-no yaar. No problem at all. Why are friends for? You be seated in cafe and don’t disconnect the call” he placed the phone on mute to talk to his wife

“Excuse me! I need to leave ASAP. “ he said placing his buttons on completely

“Who is she?” Geet asked from behind. Maan got a naughty idea. He turned to her with a smile

“Girlfriend. She is a girl and a fried, girlfriend”

Geet came closer and held his collar “Don’t ever put that stupid joke on me”

“Wow.. I feel promoted. The great Geet Handa is jealous, for me.” he then made serious face “Now if you can excuse me” and he left

stubborn !!” she stomped her feet and sat on his bed as the room was empty now. She did not know what was the problem with her. Why was she taking all his attitude?

One, because none of his words showed supremacy above her but a sheer confidence of truth and self respect. And that was showing her the substance that he held above any man she has met yet.

A man who moved to his wife’s house after marriage, yet keeping his head held high with self respect. He was unique and she knew he had already made his special place in her heart.

Geet Handa had always wondered, does a man with core values exist in this world and this man has it, again, a little too much in abundance. Geet smiled at her thoughts.

It was all only prompting her to be stubborn to learn more about him. Now that she has taken a step forward to proceed with this relationship, she will only rest after accomplishing it. Geet Handa never backs out from any project that she undertakes. She only rests after successfully accomplishing anything that she has started and this will be no exception. Still not getting the core of it. It is ‘Geet’ who can move him, not ‘The Geet Handa’.

Geet later left for her room. She switched on the TV to relax. But to her luck the old hindi movie song was running with a hero riding a bike and heroine on his back holding his waist

“I will drop you on my bike” rang on her head

“Will that Sam be holding him like this?” “No-no way. I have to make him clear on that. That ‘just any girl’ cannot be my competition”

Geet dialed facetime to her Dad.

“Hmm Darling, I heard you decided to take a small break” Came from her Dad.

“Dad, you don’t leave keeping track on me”

“We will not Geet, once you start your married life. As, with Maan around, we will not need to keep tabs on you "came from her Mom. Geet could only be surprised at how much proud her parents were of their choice.

“Mom, you can also be proud of your daughter sometimes. Young generation looks up to your daughter”

“Business you got as a legacy. I will be proud if you make your marriage successful which did not come as a legacy” Rano cleared.

“Well for that, Dad can you let me know how you zeroed on Maan? I doubt if he is just someone fulfilling my criteria list.”

“Geet, only if you get to know him, you will know, ‘why him’?”

“So there is something, you are hiding”

“Yes, and that you will only know after you actually start your relationship with him. Only his wife in real sense should know that fact”

“So my guess was right, he is not just anyone. Mom, that man you are so proud of, let me tell you, he walks with ten tons of attitude”

Her mom-dad laughed, “Not fair, you guys are partial towards him.”

“So you had interaction with him.”

“Hmm.. well his heavy weighted attitude doesn’t allows him to budge” Geet indirectly complained

“Unn hnn.. Somebody giving back to ‘The Geet Handa’” Teased Rano.

“No. Geet Handa has her own charm and attitude. I just gave it a try coz you wanted me to” But her parents knew Geet would never approach Maan because of anyone. Something has caused the knock on her heart.

“Well, to give you some ideas. Next week, we, married women are celebrating Karwa Chauth”

“Mom.. you cannot be serious to expect me to do it.”

“I am not expecting anything from you my darling. Just doing my duty of informing you.” And they disconnected leaving Geet in thought

“No, no way. Mom is thinking little too much”

“Sam, are you Okay? Maan asked worriedly as he entered the cafe which was almost empty.

“I am fine Maan. But when I was trying to find an auto, I got a feeling that someone was following. I am sorry if I”

“No, no problem”

Maan started his bike and Sameera took the seat behind. Though she wanted to sit with both her legs on either side and hold Maan’s waist but knowing Maan’s reserved nature, she sat with her legs on one side, holding the back seat rod for support.

Maan was Sameera’s friend for so long. Their nature matched, both were working on a venture together. They were so compatible to be life partners, so alike. Maan had no affair and he was in no mood to get married soon. Thus Sam did not find the need to discuss their future as life partners. But then suddenly Maan’s marriage got fixed and he got married to "The Geet Handa”, the person with whom she cannot even think of competing by any means. But was Geet Handa right for Maan. Why on earth her parents have to land on ‘her’ Maan? Why can’t they find any richie rich for their high maintenance daughter.

Maan never mentioned his wife. Maybe they will separate in a few days or months due to incompatibility. These were Sam’s thoughts but she kept all these thoughts in her heart.

“Thanks Maan”

“It’s Ok, no problem”

“I mean, you are married now and disturbing you at this hour.. I am sorry” Sameera hinted as always to get something from him which can give her an idea of his relationship with his high profile wife

But Maan’s response was as usual very neutral

“I don’t think any sensible wife will mind her husband helping his friend in need, right?” He gave her his charming soft smile. Ohh these smiles have taken Sameera’s heart long away.

“Hmm..” she nodded

When Maan returned after an hour, Geet was in the main hall, on the pretext of watching a football league match.

He directly turned to leave for his room “Excuse me” she called out but either he did not listen or thought it was not for him and continued towards his room

Geet took a deep breath “Maan”. Maan frowned in confusion and turned to her.

Geet was somewhere enjoying his negating her approach. It gave the kick to her stubbornness of bringing him into this relationship. Now that she is in, he has to be in. It will be a challenge to bring him on board and she was ready to enjoy this challenge.

Geet smiled and approached him “from next time, when your friend,,, umm no you ‘girlfriend’” she made quotes from her hand “needs you service” she came closer and Maan’s eyes bore on her face. She rubbed her hand on his arm

“We can make arrangements. We can send any of my drivers for her. My husband do not need to be driver of someone”

“And what makes you think I am going to obey your orders?”

Geet’s facial expression changed and she held his collars in both her hand and pulled him towards her

“Geet Handa’s husband does not roam around with girls behind him on his bike. My name hold some reputation”

He held her hand and swiftly removed it from his collar

“I do not and I am not interested in walking around with the tag of Geet Handa’s husband. I am Maan, The Maan Singh Khurana. Remember that very well so I do not have to remind you again. It may save you from getting your ego not broken every time” he turned and left.

He looked around and found how all the attendants saw his wife misbehaving with him

“This is what you got your son signed up for, Mom” he thought to himself

Geet as well saw and realized what she did in her anger and ego in front of all servants. Though they tried to look here and there due to their respect for him and fear from her. Geet mentally hit her head “Control Geet. He is not your random employee but your husband and deserve some respect from you”
