Unspoken Love

Chapter 54

Khushi sat beside Arnav hugging her knees on those uncomfortable hospital chair waiting for the door of the ICU to open. She was crying silently as the what happened tonight was completely unexpected and what was the worse thing for her was that she has to lie again to her dying father just to give him a peaceful death but deep down she knew that he is hurting him more with her lie. But she wasn't left with a choice. she had to do it, even if it is for his momentary happiness.

"Khushi..." Arnav scoots her body closer to his feeling extremely bad for the girl beside her. he made her rest her head on his chest and let her cry as he rubbed her arms. He knws for her this was just an act in front of her mother and all hisactions will be counted in thembut his feelings for purely from his heart. he wasn't giving her comfort for anyone else to see and notice...but he was doing it for himself but seeing her like this was painful for him as well.

"Khushi..." her mother tried to console her by keeping her hand on her shoulder but she didn't even looked once at her to acknowledge her.

"I am sorry beta...we didn't do it on purpose...if we would have told you everything then you wouldn't have agreed for this marriage and all he wanted you to see happy before he dies." She told her genuinely but that made her sob harder.

Maybe if they would have told her things would have been different, she would have been happier without this marriage.

"Y-You a-all just wanted t-to send me away..." she cried in his chest and for a moment he didn't understood what she meant by those words. He looked at Garima who was looking down feeling guilty.

"I was not your d-daughter and t-that's why you..."

"Khushi we had never differentiated between you and Payal...you were always our daughter." Garima interrupted her making her sob harder in his chest. All this was coming as a surprise to him as he never knew that her wife's parents are not her biological parents. Maybe if he would have shown more interest in her life, had asked with her more properly, she would have opened herself up and about her family but alas he never gave her the chance.

"B-but I wanted to s-stay with y-you all. You knew I didn't wanted t-this marriage." She cried.

Her every word was coming lie a slap to his face. He remembers loud and clear his own words where he called her a gold digger, where he accused her for marrying him for his wealth but here the reason was entirely different. She too married him for her family's happiness which was somewhat similar to his reasons but he never understood her reasons and blamed her for everything.

"Khushi but you belonged there...you have a husband and a family too Khushi and that is where you exactly belong Khushi...and this was what he wanted to see before...before...going away." she choked on her words.

Khushi got closer to Arnav pretending her mother that indeed she is happy with the person the world thinks in her husband. For 6 months she had been living a lie, forcing herself to believe her imaginations of a perfect husband and wife but today she wanted to make this lie look as real as possible and for just one more night she wanted to live that lie and seeks comfort from him.

He kissed the top of her head telling her with his silence that he is always there for her. they were separated by a small metallic hand rest for the chair but it didn't stop them from getting closer. Garima left them as she knew Arnav can handle her daughter well but the least she knew that both of them fighting with their own emotions.

"Everything will fine Khushi..." he whispered.

"H-How?" she asked him.

"Like every other hard times...this time will also fly." He told her genuinely unaware how to console her but one thing he knew he wanted this time to fly where he doesn't have to see her cry and doesn't have to hide his true feelings for her.

"You can go in now." a nurse interjected their moment calling for Khushi and she stood up abruptly stumbling over herself and he followed her in.

"Papa..." she said as she saw his father lying on the bed looking pale.

"I was waiting for you both." He said looking behind her to see Arnav. She walked forward and hugged his father and kept her head on his chest almost handing from the bed and hugging his torso. He kept his hand on her hair and looked at Arnav.

"You didn't answer me truthfully Khushi?" he asked and her stomach dropped. Does he knows the truth.

"Pa..papa..."

"You know you can't lie Khushi..." he said feebly.

"Arnav beta...you tell me the truth." He asked him and he stood their rooted. He didn't wanted to lie but he promised Khuhsi he will act for her.

"U-Uncle...i-it's..."

"Papa...I am very happy." She interjected.

"This marriage was forced on both of you...Beta...Khushi is a bit crazy and she may be a but childish but she is my daughter and I know she loves you and will always be beside you just like your wall." He told her and he looked down at Khushi who was crying harder.

"Please papa...don't say anything..." she cried.

"She lost her parents when she was 1..."

"You and Ma are my parents...and didi is my sister." She said stubbornly interrupting him.

"I know you are only my daughter." He smiled rubbing his hand on her head.

"She was my biggest responsibility beta...and now I am giving it to you...please take care of her..."

"Papa stop..." she cried again and Arnav had started growing more anxious now. his every word was making him 10 folds guilty and her cries were making him beg to stop. He hold her shoulder tomake her get up but she brushed his hand away and hugged her father again.

"Beta please promise me that you'll take care for her despite everything had happened between you two." He asked him and for the first time Arnav Singh Raizada was caught up in a situation where he doesn't know what to do so he decided to follow his heart for the first time as his brain never worked in emotionally situations.

"I will Uncle." He said feebly as his eyes were getting moist too from witnessing all this.

Shashi gave him a small smile and it seemed as if a huge burden had been lifted of his chest as he shut his eyes and took a deep breath but the least they knew this was the last time he talked with them. when for a long she didn't felt his chest moving Khushi looked up.

"Papa..." she said feebly and Arnav frowned and soon the situation sunk into him.

"Papa..." she shook his body but e didn't opened her eyes.

"Arnavji see...h-he is not o=opening his eyes." she pleaded him to come forward and help and in spite he hold her from her shoulder and embraced her tight.it was not just Khsuhi's condition but it was his last words leaving a impact on him. although none of it was a part of any act for him but the promise he just made...will he ever be able to fulfill?

***************************

The entire week disappeared quickly and things moved way too fast then expected. Khuhsi was still recovering from her loss and most of the time stayed in the corner crying silently away from everyone's eyes. Although Arnav knows this yet he couldn't do anything as she was avoiding him like a plague. She was sitting on the poolside with Coco next to her. she was caressing his soft fur and looking at something not in particular when Arnav came in and noticed her sitting all alone.

"Khushi." he calls out for her but she didn't hear him although he was loud enough.

"Khushi what are you doing her in cold?" he ask sitting beside her on the cold floor and Coco looks up to look at him but then drops his head down.

"Where you crying again?" he asked and she sobbed hard but shook her head in denial.

"You are a bad liar Khushi." he said embracing her sideways.

"I know Khushi what you must be going through...but he is in a better place. all his pains came to an end." he told her hoping she would find a positive side in this.

"W-Why everyone I ever love leaves me Arnavji?" she cried.

"Kh-..."

"Why does everyone leave me alone?" she cried harder clutching the lapels of his jacket.

"Khushi..." he wanted to console her but on the other side he wanted her to cry and take everything out.

"You know what's the worst thing Arnavji?"she asked him.

"I lied to him...I lied to the person who loved me so much Arnavji...he wanted to see me happy..." he cried and left her sentence in between but he knows what she was about to say. She isnt happy with him and he knows this and this is the thing which is hurting him the most.

"A-and I dragged you too in this." she smiled.

"Khushi." He made her stop.

"I am sorr..."

"Khushi I didn't lie...I genuinely want to take care of you and even if he wouldn't have said it I would have been doing it anyways...so please don't say anything like that." He interrupted her saying everything he felt. The promise which he made to Shashi was something he'll always do with his wish...he didn't had to ask him to do so.

"B-But how long?" she said although she didn't wanted it to say but words slipped out from her mind even before she could register what she was saying. he clearly knew she was referring to the remaining few days of their marriage but immediately brushed it aside.

"Why don't you go to your house?" he asked her.

"I-I don't want to..."

"Khushi if you are doing this because Aunty didn't told you then you are wrong...they were trying to protect you from getting hurt." He reasoned.

"But i ended being hurt from both the ends...firstly they made me marry when I wasn't even ready thinking I'll stay happy then they kept hiding the truth." She said in a rush and he swallowed the lump in his throat. He knew he never did anything to make her happy but hearing it out from her mouth was the worst feeling ever.

"I am sorry Khushi."he whispered feebly and she looked at him in confusion.

"I-I d-dint mean to...I am so sorry Arnavji." She said in a rush registering what she just said.

"No Khushi...don't be." He told her.

"I don't have any grudges Arnaji...seriously...with anyone...I just want to go the place where I had such beautiful memories. Recalling them just hurts more." she looked down in her laps.

"I understand Khuhsi...it's okay if you don't want to go." He told her.

"Okay...then...you can go with Di tomorrow...she had an appointment with the doctor." He suggested and she looked away.

"First let's go inside Arnavji it's cold." she said and stood up abruptly but he has lived with her enough to judge that she dodging away with this and he wants to know why.

"Khuhsi..." he called her following her to the room.

"You are not going to your college...and I completely understand that...but why are you keeping yourself locked here...you need to go out Khsuhi ...what's the problem." He asked.

"I don't feel like going out." She shrugged.

"There is something else Khsuhi." He asked her again.

"Arnavji..."she huffed.

"I don't have any problem with Di...but..."

"But what?" he asked raising his eyebrow at her.

"Whenever I am around...she'll ask me when I am going to have a baby Arnavji...I cant lie to her anymore...all these lies are killing me from inside Arnavji...it's like a huge burden...I just don't want give her hopes for something which can never happen." She told him and her words stabbed him in this heart. never ever in his life he thought he would have babies...but the the thought of Khsuhi having a family with someone forced him that day to think of a family of his own where he could only see her as his wife and the babies they made together...but it all seemed to coming crashing down now.

"It's okay Khushi...youdont have toile to anyone anymore now." He said and she frowned.

"W-What?" she asked him but her question made him snap out of his thoughts. He looked at her and smiled slightly.

"You don't have to lie." He repeated but that wasn't the answer of her question.

"But how?" she askedwith her brows furrowed deep in confusion.

"You'll know it soon." He said went straight towards his closet to grab his clothes.

"But Arnavji.."

"By the way I called your friend...what's her name...right...Aditi." He said while taking out his clothes but on the mention of him taking to her friend just bubbled up the strange feelings in her gut.

"You called Aditi?" she asked in disbelief.

"Yes...she told me what's happening in the college..."

"But I could call myself." she interrupted him.

"I know...but youwere not in the condition...and she also told me you hadn't been talking to anyone after your father's..." he let his sentence incomplete as it's hard tosay those words again and again.

"I was not in the mood." He replied looking away.

"Anyways...she told me about the internship and I have decided that you join AR for that from the next week." He told her and her widened.

"NO...I-I can't join AR for intership."she replied in a rush.

"But why?" he asked with confusion.

"I don't want to takefavour from you anymore...you have already done enough..."

"I hadn't done anything yet Khushi." he interjected her guiltily.

"But I can't do this." he said.

"Because it's impossible." He replied.

"But I don't se any problem in this." he said getting irritated with her NOs.

" Because I want to learn doing things on my own...I will not have you forever standing by my side to help me...I have to learn Arnavji and please don't force me into this." he said and her every word once agin stabbed him reminding him whatever is happening is all temporary...and one day they have to walk separate paths where he couldn't be by her side inspite her real husband will be their to protect her. the thought itself was enough for him to clench his jaws and look away from her. he so wanted it to last forever but he created a mess for himself and which seemed to be destroying everything they had or could have been.

"Thanks for the offer...but I cant take it." she said softly.

"Butyou aremy wife now...and you candoit." He said hopefully in a light voice.

"But then everyone will think my husband supported me...and I cant do anything on my own." She told him.

"But isn't it good...a husband supporting his wife to achieve her goals?" he asked her.

"That's for a real husband and wife Arnavji...it will look like a favor in our case...a favor for signing the contract of this marriage." She said and when she rubs the cruel reality of their marriage, the moment itself are enough for him to get riled up and without even saying anyting he walked towards the washroom to change and to throw out all his angry and frustration on something else rather than her at this moment. He had already ruined it all, now he doesn't want to ruin it further by lashing out at her for no reason and in a situation where she said the truth bluntly without considering what he would feel. Maybe this was what she might have felt when he would say anything coming to his mouth even before knowing the truth r considering her emotion, maybe this is what she must have felt. He had send those tears in her eyes after every fight they had but now he realize how deeply your heart is sliced when someone would say something without even caring about your feelings.

With a burning rage inside him he stood under the shower trying hard to accept his defeat but Arnav Singh Raizada never learnt this. he knows how to get his ways in everything and although he was new to these feelings bubbling in him but yet he will get his way and thinking million reasons to make her agree for this. After a long shower when a sudden idea popped his mind a small victory smile appeared on his lips. He walked out of the shower, dressed in his comfort clothes and saw Khushi giving food to her Coco.

"Khushi...let's go and have our dinner." He smiled at her. she had been avoiding the gatherings from long but it was high time for him to drag her out of the room.

The family was already seated on the dining table and he was still smiling as he took his chair and let Khsuhi sit on hers.

"Finally Khushiji decided to come out of her room." Anjali commented pinching her cheeks making her smile.

"Di...I was just..."

"I understand Khushiji...c'mon lets have our dinner...I was waiting for you two to come." she said and served both of them even Khushi protested several times.

"Di...tell me one thing..." Arnav began as he took a sip of his water.

"Yes.." Anjali answered.

"Di if Shyam does anything for you...it will be counted as favor?"he asked with innocence and Khushi looked at him in disbelief. She wasn't expecting this conversation on the dining table.

"Of course not...it will be a gift...and there is not favor in a relationship of a husband and wife...it's a pure unconditional relation where you don't do favors...you care for each other." She said with a smile.

"Exactly Di... I meant the same Khsuhi." He took her name all the attention of Anjalji came to her.

"What are you both talking about?" she interrupted.

"Nothing Di..."Khushi said nervously.

"Di...I want her to do internship from AR but she is calling it a favor...now you tell her it's not a favor." he said and Khsuhi shot daggers in his direction but he ignored her and concentrated on his food but his mind and ears were completely on their conversation.

"Khushiji...what's the problem in doing internship from AR...it's your company too and Chotte doesn't even have to permit you or anything..." she told her.

"Di...it's just...everyone will think..."

"What everyone thinks Khsuhiji shouldn't be our concern...you are his wife...and he wants to help you to learn...think in this way...he can be a their to guide you properly at AR and that will be for your good." she said.

"Di...I know..."

"Then it's all settled...you'll be doing your internship from AR...afterall it's your company too." Anjali put an end to the conversation and Arnav smiled victoriously but Khushi looked at him furiously. Why he never understands her...why he always wants to be the dominating one...why can't he let her do things on her own knowing he has to leave her alone one day to deal with this world.
