Prerna could see Rishabh wasn’t too happy to be reminded he’d had to give up his indulgences and the doctor quickly changed the subject feeling the resentment on the matter from Mr Bajaj even if she was a old friend of hers.

“What are you hoping for? asked the doctor,

“A girl” replied Prerna and Rishabh in unison surprising each other as it wasn’t something they’d discussed yet. Their eyes met comfortably, pleased that they seemed to agree.

As they walked out of the doctors office Prerna spoke

“The girls asked me if they could have a little baby sister”

“I said I’d ask you”, she smiled

“They asked me too.”. replied Rishabh and Prerna look towards him

Aap ne kya kaha..? (What did you tell them?)

“I’d see if the supermarket have any along with the rest of the list” he said taking out the shopping list the girls had given them when they found out their ma and pa were off to the ‘supermarket.’

Prerna giggled and took the shopping list from him, only a experienced father would have known how to handle that conversation and that made Prerna reflect.

“Mr Bajaj Sneha ke vakt sab kuch itni jaldi hua — (Mr Bajaj with Sneha it all happened so quickly I ..it was far from perfect mom I’m not sure i know what I’m doing”)

He could see she was a little nervous and truth be told he was too..

“It was far from perfect with kuki but we’ll try our best” she heard him reply which made her feel better.”

When Rishabh and Prerna returned home, Sneha and Kuki were stood in the entrance egarly waiting for everything on their list.

Rishabh who was carrying the shopping, kneeled to say hello to his girls. Something told Prerna Mr Bajaj would know how to handle this conversation.

He cupped snehas cheek and patted her little nose which always made her smile and kissed kuki on the forehead.

Did you get everything on our list asked kuki? curiously

“Nearly everything” answered Rishabh whilst he watch Sneha trying to look over his shoulder looking for her baby sister no doubt.

He tugged the back of her dugaree’s slightly so she’d be stood in front of him again beside kuki.

“Baby sisters are out of stock” Prerna tried to hold her smile from appearing as she stood beside Rishabh

“For how long?” Asked Kuki.

“They couldn’t say but as soon as they are in stock again you’ll be the first to get one okay?”

Both girls looked at one another whilst Prerna and Rishabh even hoped his storytelling would work.

After a second of uncertain silence the girls seemed to agree.

“Okay..!” They both said smiling happy with the rest of their things leaving their ma and da with a sigh of relief.

Rishabh looked up to Prerna both amused and rather pleased by the days events.
