Untouched Yaadain:

Part 20
The day went by very slow. Maan and Nayantara were busy with their lives, nobody at home except Geet. Maan busy with his office matters, while Nayantara was busy with the lawyers. Nayantara did come home for a little while but left immediately as her phone rang.
As for Geet, she was looking around in the house to find any evidence. She was very eager to find out what Nayantara was planning on doing? Normally she wouldn't really care but when Nayantara mentioned 'hiding it from Maan' phrase, Geet got cautious. She did however found the file which Nayantara was deliberately hiding last night and that pretty much summed up Nayantara's plan. But she needs proof to show it to the Akdu Khurana. He will never believe her what Nayantara is planning on doing even if he shows her the property file. How on earth will she do that?? How will she gather proofs when she can't find a single proof with an exception of that file?? She needed to think quickly. Which she shouldn't have any problems with. Her mind has become very sharp watching all those bollywood movies.
Half of the day went by, Geet was sitting in the living room, hands up on her forehead, eyes closed. She hadn't accomplished anything. This won't do it. She can't ask Maan about this and she certainly can't ask Nayantara about this either. It seemed as if all of the doors were shut on her face.
"Geet tujhe aik aisa darwaza khud banana ho ga."
After giving a much thought, she finally came up with an idea. "Of course! Pagal pehle kyun nahin socha!" She scolded herself.
Why hadn't this idea occurred to her before?? Even in the movies, the main actors do this. Salman Khan might've done it too in his movies. She got the idea of being a detective for some days. That's the only way she could find out what Nayantara is doing, since she's very tippy about her doings. Nayantara can hide her doings very quickly and precisely. So all she has to do is keep an eye on her.
For a mere second, Geet felt ashamed of what she was about to do, invading someone's personal matters. Just for a mere second. But then the thought of keeping Maan in the blues brought back her old emotions and feelings. Now 'maybe' turned into 'must' for Geet. What if Maan is in danger? According to the file and Nayantara's behavior, it show's that something big is cooking. Now all she needs to find is what kind of dish is cooking just to keep Maan safe. She felt proud of herself for thinking something like that.
"Wah Geet, tum to bhot achi detective bano gi!"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
By 8 pm, everyone was present at the dinner table. Geet had vowed not to take off her eyes off of Nayantara. Each and every action taken by Nayantara might lead her to her answers. And all the proofs that she needs will be discovered. To Geet's luck, Maan was so busy with his phone that he didn't realize Geet staring at Nayantara, otherwise he would've said something to Geet. Nayantara also failed to notice Geet's stares as she was too busy gobbling down the food. Geet realized that Nayantara was holding a file under the table and now all she needs to know is what kind of it is. Nayantara called Nakul over and told him to put the file in her room because Maan wanted to discuss something with Nayantara. Geet had a golden chance, she could sneak in to her room and read the file. But as soon as she was discharging from the table, Maan called out her name.
"Geet.. Kahan ja rahi ho??"
Geet stop. Yeh Maan bhi na abhi unko mujhe bulana tha. Main chup ke se chali jaati aur kisi ko pata bhi na chalta.
"J-ji"
"Mere liye coffee le ker aao."
Gai bhens pani main. There goes her golden chance down the drain. She didn't want to show them her angry face so she just went to the kitchen without even glancing once back at them.
"Ab kya keroon?"
For the past 15 minutes, Geet was in the kitchen thinking, leaving the pot on the stove. Apparently, she was too busy thinking that she forgot she had to make coffee for Maan. Instead she just put a pot full of water on the stove. While Maan waiting outside for his coffee and Nayantara dispersed to her room.
"Yeh ladki kahan reh gayi hai? Maine Nakul ko kyun nahin kaha?"
Did he really want to spend some quality time with her? So that's why he sent her to make coffee and not Nakul? Did he really miss her all day long that when she was leaving for her room, I made her make coffee so she will stay here a little longer?
Impatient Maan went in the kitchen to see what's taking so long. But before he entered, a scream from the kitchen alerted him. He ran in the kitchen to see what had happened. Geet standing before his eyes, while the pot fell on the floor, splashing the water everywhere. Before the hot water could reach her face, Maan jumped in, pulling her out of the way. Maan lost his balance and fell to the floor, pulling Geet along with him. She landed on top of him. In this matter, she should've gotten off of him immediately or he should've pushed her off of him. But neither of them did anything of that sort. It was as if they have transformed into a statue, neither of them moving. Just staring at each other. Geet had forgot what she was thinking about and Maan had also forgot why he was here in the kitchen. All they could see was each other, dwelling into each other's eyes. He was staring so much at Geet that she felt as if his eyes could see his soul. And the same goes for Maan. How could they pretend that they hate each other when their heart crave for each other? Unaware to Geet, she slowly moved her hands towards the boiling hot pot. Geet was slowly coming back to her senses and accidentally she banged her hand against the boiling hot pot. And then the scream brought Maan back to his senses. Geet quickly sat down next to Maan, massaging her hand and trying not to scream at the sudden pain going up and down her hand. Maan quickly took her hand into his, slowly massaging it and blowing on it. That did slowly soothed the pain. Seeing Maan's concerned face, Geet's heart wouldn't stop its thumping. She was surprise he couldn't hear it! How could he not? Can he? Is he just ignoring it?
"It's okay. Main theek hoon."
That did it, "Theek ho? Tumhara dimaagh kharab huwa huwa tha?! Itni garam pot uthane ki kya zaroorat thi? There's something called tong, banda us se utha ta hai. Geet tum pagal ho gayi thi!"
Ok he was overreacting just a little. Ok maybe a lot. Itni chooti si ghalti ke liye is tarha ka reaction. When she looked down at her hand, the redmark that was formed was still there. She was surprised she was not screaming anymore!
"Maan, main seriously theek hoon."
"Geet tum to apna khayal kerti nahin ho. But main ab tumhara khayal rakhoon ga."
Too late, those words left his mouth before he could gulp them back down. How on earth will he explain this to her now? He reminded himself to slap himself after he gets away from this situation. He did promise himself to hide his feelings and yet here he was again, expressing his feelings. As for Geet, she looked him innocently trying to reach the depth of his words. Did he really mean that? But how can she believe him this time? He always end up changing his words, anyway. Annoyed, she jerks her hand away from his hold, stands to leave.
"Isi kya ho gaya?" Maan wonders.
Geet leaves the kitchen, not caring that her wound has yet not been healed. But this wound was nothing compare to the one buried inside her. She is not falling for his words again. Maan suddenly grips her hand and jerks her back, pulling her towards a wall. She tried to escape but his two muscular arms wouldn't let go of her. She gave in.
"Aap ko kya chahiye?"
"Jawab."
"Kounsa?"
"Geet. Tum achanak kyun uth ke chali gayi thi?"
She stayed silent.
"Geet answer me." He demanded but in a calm voice.
Geet hesitated but finally got the courage to speak. "Kyun ke I don't know how to react to your words. I don't know main aap ki baaton ka kya matlab nikalon. Kabhi kuch kehte ho aur kabhi kuch aur. I just don't understand you. Aur shaid kabhi ker bhi nahin paoon gi."
She blurted out too fast. There was a dead silence in the kitchen. Geet now regretting saying that and she was feeling very awkward with this silent. She was waiting for him to burst out, taking out his anger. But before even giving him a chance to speak, she pushed him back and ran away from there. Maan just stood there, dumbfound. She was right, he concluded. She is right everytime. It's just him and his feelings that cross their path eveytime. How he wished he could control them! But he didn't have the power. With each day passing, his feelings were getting out of hand. What an unfortunate that the girl, who showed him the way of life, can't be his. He can't be mendling with his feelings anymore. Once they are hidden, they should always be hidden. Even living in different rooms brought them together. Maybe staying away from her is the best choice after all. He decided to stay in a hotel room for a lil while, just so he can take some time off of this hysteria. He left to pack his belongings.
The next day Geet woke up with a headache. Last night was again something that shouldn't have happened. Maybe she should get used to it. Whenever they are together, they share an awkward moment and then end up in a fight. She cried herself to sleep. Her eyes were red from all the crying. Oh God, it is really hard to hide her feelings! And then she realized that today too, just like any other day, she would have to face him, maybe spend some time, fight, and like usual end her day with crying. For how long will this go on?
After some time, she gathered some confidence and left downstairs to make breakfast. Nakul was already there, busy with his morning rituals. Geet quietly went up and started to make coffee for Maan. Nakul saw her doing this and objected, "Geet madam, yeh sab kerne ki koi zaroorat nahin hai." Geet raised her brow. "Kyun?"
"Saab subha subha kahin chale gaye hain apne suitcase ke saath."
He left? So early? Where? Without telling her? Instead of telling her he found it righteous to tell Nakul. But again they don't have that kind of a relationship where he would tell her these kind of things. But where did he go? Suddenly? Oh God, first she was feeling awkward with his presence and now that he left, she misses him. What is wrong with her? She has surely lost her mind. Though Geet acted as if she didn't care, but from inside she wanted to have her answers. She asked Nakul, if he knows anything. He said no. "Aap saab ko kyun nahin call ker lete. Waise jab woh ja rahe the tab unke chehre pe ghussa tha." Geet had been right, he changed again. After what he said, he was again angry. How can she trust his words when he himself doesn't really follow them. She got hurt last night, and he didn't even bother to check on her. She made the right decision to not believe him. But what he did right now was eating her from inside. Why did he suddenly leave? Should she call him? A good wife would do that. She was so confused. In the end, she took Nakul's advice to call him. She did though hesitated but then called anyway.
Rrrinnngg
No answer. She tried it again.
Still answer. She has lost the count on how much she probably called him.
"Woh phone kyun nahin utha rahe."
Then suddenly he called back. Uhh finally!
"Hello? Maan? Aaap kahan ho? Itni calls ki mainain."
"Hello ma'am." Came a heavy male voice. That was not Maan.
"Maan kahan hain?"
"Woh actually apna phone office chod gaye hain. But I know he went on a business trip to Italy. Woh 1 week main aa jain gain." Satisfied Geet hung up after nodding.
But the guy had to lie to Geet, thanks to Maan. He didn't want her to know that he was staying at a hotel so he asked one of the housekeeper to answer the phone and lie.
Now that Geet can think straight she went on her quest to find more evidence, or in particular that file which Nayantara told Nakul to put it in her room last night. Since she's not at home, Nakul is in his room, and now that Maan is gone too, this is the golden opportunity.
She sneaks in Nayantara's room, turns on the light and tip toes to the side table. She opens the first drawer, no luck. She does remember that the color of the file was red. She opens the second drawer, and still no luck.
After 10 minutes or so, she has turned the whole room upside down, just in search of that one file. And then she spots it in the closer, under some supposed clothes that were suppose to hide it. She quickly grabs it and opens it. And what came next shook her inside out. As if the sky has fallen on top of her.
