Chapter 4

Her eyes opened the moment she touched his pillow and got nothing there, she woke up with a start. Her eyes scanned the room, and he was no where to be found. She moved out of the sheets bundling the hair that had scattered over her face. She checked the washroom and caught a sneak of terrace, but he was no where to be found.

The only question which rang in her mind was where did he go?'. she walked up to the coffee table only to find a paper with her name written over it.

Hastily, she opened the paper to check what he had left for her, but all her expectations about good morning, love' faded away when she just saw plain numbers scribbled followed by his address. And she could just calm herself by saying that he might be busy.

But the more she thought, the more the realization hit her that maybe he had used her like that of a one night stand. Bad thoughts surrounded her mind, and no matter how much she tried she could not just fly away from them.

Dressing into some decent clothes she walked down with her luggage to find a cab which would take her to his house. but then, she saw the mercedes waiting for her already.

"Good Morning madame" the chaffeour said.

She smiled genuinely "Good Morning"

The fact that Reyaansh's house was like that of a travel brochure didn't surprise her, the furnitures were expensive and there were times when she could not just help but feel proud being his wife. There were times when she could not help but feel surprised by the over expenisive things he owned. The picture he had of himself contained more zeroes than she could probably ever count.

Though the place looked beautiful and squeky clean there still was a certain frustration and a certain sadness attached to everything. The walls looked so light, the place looked just too clean, and there was something which didn't feel right, or was it just her mood?

She did not know. The house looked hollow, the house was empty and so was her mood.

His king sized bed was placed right at the middle of the room with a large chandeliar above it. She could just stare at his room, it had a large potrait of him on the wall which said Leonarda' and she could not help but feel embarassed. She touched the piece of art slightly as if to see if it felt as good as it seemed.

She heard a formal cough behind her as though someone was trying to make her feel their presence, and she turned back only to find his broad frame leaning against the door.

"Oh Reyaansh!" she said cheerfully "I didn't realize you were home"

He just nodded, unable to match her eye. "How was your day?" she asked.

She seemed so happy, so happy as though everything was perfect, she was pretending. Pretending as though everything was great, as though things were as beautiful as his dreams has been before last night.

"Fine" he said, his tone was low, and hoarse. He somehow made her expect something unpleasant.

She walked forward to catch hold of his hand, then making him sit next to her on the bed, she held his large hand in hers. "So, tell me" she said "how was everything? I want to know every little detail"

"It was just fine" he said

And she suddenly felt a hint of sadness in his voice, a slight hint of frustration and a pinch of anger, as though he was unhappy, with her, with this marriage, with everything.

"Do you need something? Should i get you some coffee?" she got up.

"No. It won't be necessary" he said looking away towards the wall.

"Why does the wall seem more intresting than me to you?" she asked holding his face slightly and making him look at her. His Green orbs stared at her, and all she could see there was pain. And a pinch of regret. she knew he could see the change of expressions on her face, her smile was fading away, but could she help it?

and before her eyes would moisten she knew she just had to ask "Okay Reyaansh, Is there something wrong? Because you seem so away and i can't read minds you know"

He was silent for a moment "Is there something you think you think you should tell me?"

She thought about everything she had ever done in her life. And she came to the realization that he knew everything. What did he expect her to confess?

"No" her voice was thin.

He nodded. "You know for a moment yesterday, i felt as though you were experienced"

She knew he was making it sound casual, but she was not a fool, she could sense the underpinned bitterness in his voice, let alone the look he slanting towards her. She felt haste, she knew she had to choose her words carefully, but then she came to realization that maybe there was nothing to say, at all.

"Are you Kriya?" he asked. He was being careful not to accuse, he was trying everything he could to stop the sudden hard feelings which were exerted by him. "Are you experienced Kriya?"

"Not very" her voice was little.

"not very?" he asked again as if to confirm what he just heard was correct. He was trying hard not to let this affect him but he couldn't just help. He felt almost paralysed at the moment.

She nodded.

"And you never felt the need to tell me that you were experienced?" he asked and she shivered.

"But i thought you knew" she said helplessly. Tears were already dripping out of her large eyeballs. "You knew about Rehan after all"

"And i can't believe how good you are at pretending" he said with steel in his voice. He was gritting his teeth now and shewas a little afraid of him.

"But i did not" she tried to voice out her miserbilities but the look on his face said everything that she'd never want to hear. "pain" and "hatred" was pasted on his face, how was she supposed to say that it all felt like first time and she had never been pretending. "I was never pretending"

She kept a hand on his shoulder, but he just pushed her away. "Does this affect the way you feel about me?" she asked.

"Ofcourse it does. I thought you were the one. The only woman who didn't ask me to bed her-my idol woman. But now, it all just feels like a sham, like whatever picture i had in my mind of you is totally different from what you actually are." He stood up and started walking towards the door.

"Please don't go" was the only cry of protest she could get out of her mouth.

Bbut he had already left and she could hear the thud of the door.

The following week went just how the first day had, he made everything miserable for her. and when, he would talk to her, it seemed as though she was one of his old enemies. There was nothing she could say, she could not say anything to make him change the way he saw her now.

It was a quarter after one, and she was awake, she was waiting for him to come back, wondering where he could be, she had imagined a thousand scenarios in her mind where he loved her, where he made every single thing special for her-but such dreams were not to come true now.

It was then when she heard the closing of the door, the slight thud, though he tried to make it as quiet as possible she could still hear it and tremble slightly. She switched on the lamps, and walked out to serve him whatever was cooked as the dinner.

"Welcome back" she tried to put up a smile. But the reality that he didn't even look at her made her disappointed.

The night gown hugged her curves slightly, and though he didn't look at her, he could easily make out that she did not wear anything inside. Her hair was bunched into a bun with some strands coming out, and her eyes were as warm as ever, her cleavage was slightly visible, and though he knew that he had been fighting with it the entire day-he still had the urge. The urge to hold her in his arms, the urge to kiss her, the urge to make love to her.

And then she flashed that smile. It was being difficult for him to hold back his desires, though he knew that all he should feel for her is hatred-his emotions seemed to be quite different from that.

He did feel ashamed to confess that her creamy legs and beautiful body could get the man in him all desiring. And that he had been spending his days missing her when she was not with him, he had missed every inch of her, but, the reality was more heartbreaking than he had first thought, she hid the truth from him after all.

"Where were you?" she asked with a smile "i mean it's quite late"

"Out" was his response.

"Out where?" she asked.

"Out" he repeated.

"Reyaansh I just.." she was interrupted.

"Why do care anyways?" he asked

"I was worried for you" she reasoned.

"Why?" he asked.

"For all i know, you could have had an accident" she replied.

"Then it would've have been easier for you, right?" he let out a bitter laugh.

"What do you mean?" she breathed out.

"The millionaire's cars crashed, wife gets the entire property" he stated out.

She tried not to feel the anger she was feeling. She tried not to speak what she was about to, but then realized that it was just enough. He needed to know his limits and she needed to remind him where he stood.

She bent down so that her face was close to him "See Reyaansh, I'm making it very clear that i want absolutely NOTHING from you, got it?"

"You do want the money" he hushed.

"No I don't" she shook her head.

And then he couldn't believe how easily she walked away. She didn't even care to look back at him, didn't even care to ask if he would need something else. And he felt a clinch of his heart, something infuriating, like that of heartache.

The idea of sleeping next to him simply disgusted her, he was pulling her closer when she woke up that day, his arm was tightly encircled around her waist and he had dug his face in her soft hair, she turned to face him, and was surprised to see the proximity they were sharing, his nose was in contact with hers and his lips were centimetres away from hers.

"I want to kiss you" she suddenly heard, she had been thinking that he was asleep for the entire time now, but the truth that he was actually awake encountering every thing made her nervous.

For a moment she wanted to say yes, but was afraid, that he might pull back, that he might not like it and accuse her later-though he had never been accusing.

She thought she had anticipated his hand moving inside her tee shirt, but then she felt him stroking her bare stomach slightly and it felt as though he was back, he was back to the Reyaansh she fell in love with, she smiled and could feel his warm breath on her lips.

He inched forward and his lips met hers, his hand went up her stomach and he could feel her trembling, though he had rarely touched her, he pulled her closer which made her crash more into him, and before she could realize his hand was on her neck, lifting her face slightly.

She was numb for sometime, she couldn't respond to any of his actions, because this had all turned out just like she had thought, she had imagined this a million of times and now when it finally was here, she found it to be more beautiful than ever.

The kiss was softer than ever, she felt as though he was trying to be gentle on her, she felt as though he was an unfulfilled dream, as though he was going to kill her with desires that flew into her.

He parted away and all that came out of her mouth was "I love you Reyaansh" she opened her eyes as if to study his reactions, and he had an uncertainty on his face, a void of expressions.

The next moment she saw him standing up and walking away, and that night when he returned she heard the sound of heels against the floor and sound of a feminine giggle along with him. And it was not too long after when she heard the girl moaning "Reyaansh" just like she had that night.

Kriya Ghai cried herself to sleep.

The next day when he returned it was ten in the night, and she wondered if he would return alone. But he did, and he did not seem guilty for whatever he did.

"You didn't tell me we had guests last night" she said.

"I'm afraid you had nothing to do with them" he said taking a bite of an apple.

He started walking away when she knew she had to ask. "Reyaansh, WHY?" her voice was bold and tough "Why did you do that?"

He turned back and there was steel in his eyes "Because i was in a mood to get a good f**k and i got that"

She was already teary eyed "You don't know how much i hate you" she said.

"Believe me the feeling is mutual" his voice was bitter.

But right after he had left, she could not bear it anymore, she gritted her teeth and yelled for him to hear "I HATE YOU SO MUCH MR SINGHANIA. YOU ARE THE ONLY REGRET OF MY LIFE"

She kept shouting until he came and held her wrist angrily "What did you just say?" he asked.

"THAT THIS MARRIAGE IS THE BIGGEST REGRET OF MY LIFE" she yelled again.

"Is it? Because if it isn't let me just make it that" he pulled her to him and started tearing off her clothes, he was hard on her, more pain than pleasure.

"No Reyaansh" she mumbled "Please don't"

"Don't" she mumbled again but he just continued until he crashed her on the bed and pushed himself above her.

"Why Kriya, isn't it the biggest regret of your life?" he mumbled before leaving another nasty bite right down her cleavage, she yelled in pain, but he seemed deaf.

Couldn't he hear her sobs? Couldn't he hear her protests? She didn't knew, for now, he was being as hard as ever, moving down her body, as though punishing her.

"Please.. Don't.. Reyaansh.." She said between her sobs

He entered her with so much force that she yelled in pain, yet he didn't care to back away, he continued hurting her. she scratched his back, tried to push him away with the little energy left. But nothing seemed to work.

"Reyaansh... you're-you're hurting me" she mumbled. she tried to yell but nothing came out. He had his hands tight around her, she couldn't even move. she was left in tears by the time he left her,

She lied on the bed, none of her senses seemed to work. Every inch of her body ached and she could not even turn, "Here it is Kriya.. the biggest regret of your life"

She didn't have the energy to speak, nor could she move. she was stuck, also bleeding, she could not put her clothes back on as they were probably thrown away somewhere, she pulled the blanket above her naked body, he left few bruises, and few bites which were hurtful.

Yet again, she cried herself to sleep.

The Next two days she didn't interact with im at all, her hair seemed to be ruffled mess and attires were pale as though she hasn't bathed since days, tears covered her tired eyes almost always. Even when he was back from work, she didn't care to come out and check on his. She seemed that upset.

She hadn't touched even a morsel of food, let alone eat any of it. She didn't say anything, yet he was not a fool to not understand how upset she was due to his actions.

"Would you want to eat anything?" he asked. she looked up at him with observant eyes, her face was a void of expressions and her eyes were red and plump, due to the tears.

"No Thankyou" was all he could get for a response.

She didn't care enough to look at him; she looked away as if putting an end to this conversation.

Corrine was appointed the very next day, she was old, with a wrinkled face and petite figure, was jobless and she was appointed for a sole purpose-to take care of Kriya.

"Madame, the food." Corrine declared keeping a plate on her bed which was loaded with food.

"I don't need any, Thankyou" she said.

"You haven't eaten since days, i'm concerned" Corrine said.

Kriya looked at her with a warm smile. "I'm okay" she said.

Corrine smiled. "To find a solution one must not search, but instead ask Why"

Kriya nodded, and after hours she actually ate.

______________________

The fact that he was concerned was a understatement. He was worried, strained and also tensed, but knew that he couldn't talk to her. He sank deeper into his leather armchair and the only thing that ran in his mind was, What have I done'

She walked in and her heels clicked against the floor. "Are you free enough to talk?"

"Have a seat" his eyes seemed worried.

She was dressed in a shirt that ended on her belly button, displaying her stomach and a pair of old blue denim shorts, her hair were left open, and he could figure out a bit of makeup on her face.

"Are you going somewhere?" he asked

"Yes. I'm going to meet your mother" she smiled

"She's not a very sociable lady, she doesn't appreciate many visitors" he cleared his throat.

"I think i can handle that" she said

"I can drop you there" he stood up.

"No, the driver will take me" she simply replied and walked off.

She knew she needed some privacy to find out more about his past.
