Chapter 8

since people complained that the last chapter was too short, i decided to

     The afternoon couldn't go any slower for Michael. He paced around
the living room, flipped through the channels on TV without really
watching anything and checked his watch at least every five minutes.

     After what seemed like ages, the clock finally struck six and Michael
rushed back to the shore to fetch Veronica.

     He had barely stepped out of the house when he saw Veronica
walking towards him.

     "Hey Ronnie!"

     "Oh, hey Michael! Are you going somewhere?"

     "I was just coming to get you actually. I wanted to make sure you
hadn't forgotten about our dinner plan."

     "I haven't forgotten. Don't worry."

     "Well that's good! We leave at 7:30 okay?"

     "Alright." smiled Veronica as she made her way into the house.

     An hour and a half later, Meg found Michael pacing the living room
again.

     "You wanna sit down Michael?"

     "Huh? What? Oh... No... I'm fine." answered Michael a little
distractedly.

     "She wont cancel on you if that's what you worried about. She said
she'll be down in five minutes."

     "Oh... Thanks Meg. And um... I'm sorry for screaming at you a while
ago." said a guilty Michael.

     "It's alright Michael. I probably would have done the same."

     Michael walked towards his sister and gave her a hug. "Thanks sis!
You're the best."

     "I'll wait in the car with Johnny okay?"

     "Alright."

     Just as Meg closed the door behind her, Michael saw Veronica
coming down the stairs. She looked beautiful in a denim skirt that sat
right above her knees and a black sleeveless top. Her thick brown hair,
that went a little below her shoulder were held in place with a clip while a
few stray strands lightly fell above her eyes which were just as brown as
her hair.

     "Wow! You look beautiful Ronnie." Michael realized he was staring
and decided to give her a compliment before he looked away.

     "Thanks Michael."

     "Meg and Johnny are waiting in the car. Are you ready to leave?"

     "Yeah. Let's go."

     Michael held the door open and allowed Veronica to walk out before
he followed her. When they got to the porch, they saw Meg and Johnny
already in the car. Once again, Michael opened the door and let Veronica
in before he walked to the other side and sat in the car.
