"I thought I smelled pancakes! I can't believe you guys were gonna have
breakfast without me!" Meg and Michael looked up to see Johnny standing
at the entrance of the kitchen with a look of mock indignation on his face.
Even if he had just got out of bed, Johnny looked like the dream guy
of every girl. He wasn't a jock or anything but he could have easily passed
for one. He was about 6 ft tall, had light brown hair, sparkling green eyes,
and, because he shared Michael's love for surfing, a permanently tanned
complexion.
"Sorry man! We just thought you were still sl--"
"Yeah, yeah, save it Mike!" mumbled Johnny as he tried to stifle a
yawn. "Move over Meg!" he added as he walked up to the kitchen counter.
"Good morning to you too!" replied a highly irritated Meg while
vacating the seat for Johnny.
"What's up with your sister?"
"I don't know. You ask her. She IS your girlfriend after all."
Meg and Johnny had been dating for two years now and although
Michael had at first resented the fact that his sister was dating his best
friend, he finally approved of their relationship.
"Meg, what's wrong with you?" asked Johnny as he turned to face
her.
"I'm just worried about Ronnie."
"Don't tell me she's still crying over that jerk!"
"Johnny!! Don't you ever say that in front of her!" reprimanded Meg
while hitting him on the arm.
"Oooowwww! What did you do that for?! It's not like I said anything
wrong. He was - oh wait, I mean, he IS a jerk."
"I agree with him sis!" added Michael through a mouthful of
pancakes.
"Well so do I! But calling him names isn't gonna do us any good. It's
just gonna make Ronnie feel worse if she hears us. We should focus on
helping her out of her misery."
"And we do that how?" asked Michael. "She gets upset at the mere
mention of his name."
"Then we don't mention Mark! DUH!" replied Meg like that was the
most obvious thing to do.
"So what do you suggest?" questioned Johnny.
"I have a plan..." Meg answered.
