Chapter 37

 

 

Few days pass like this……arjun doesn't speak to anyone ….not even to mansvi……this tenses her a lot…….meanwhile he engroses himself into work so as to get out from bhumi's thoughts………

 

 

The next morning……….

 

 

In the breakfast table……..arjun is a bit gloomy……..but seeing everyone puts a faade of smile……….

 

 

M:  arre arjun main soch raha tha ki hum tumhari shaadi……agle muharat ke bajay isi muharat pe kar de to……..mera matlab hai………10 dino baad ek muharat hai……kyun  na hum usi muharat par shaadi rakh lee………

 

 

Mansvi is shocked too is arjun……….but arjun thinks that bhumi did not want his love ……..so why shld he keep cryin for her ………

 

 

A: theek hai papa……….jaise aap theek samjhe….

 

M: dekha shakuntala maine kaha na mera beta kabhi mere khilaf nahi jayega…..

 

Mansvi is shocked at this agreement of arjun………

 

Mansen calls shefali's father and gives this good news to him

 

M: haan !! pratap tum bas shaadi ki tayariyaan shuru karo……..achcha chalo  rakhta hoon……

 

M: (looking at arjun) thank you arjun beta aaj tumne mujhe khush kar diya……..

 

A: (smiles)hmm

 

In arjun's room……..

 

Mansvi storms in ………

 

Mv: arjun …kya sochkar tumne papa ki baat ke liye haan kahi………tumne to kaha tha ki tum bhavri se pyaar karte ho

 

A: hmm(not looking at her and pretending to be busy in a file)

 

Mansvi gets annoyed and snatches the file and throws it and then faces him

 

Mv: ye sab kya ho raha hai

 

A: bhabhi bhavri ko mere khushiyon ka khayal nahi hai……….to main kyun phir uski fikr karoon

 

Mv: arjun ho sakta hain ki koi choti si galatfaimi ho….

 

A: nahi bhabhi…use mere pyaar ki parwa nahi hai

 

Mv: par arjun s…

 

A: (interrupting her) please bhabhi……….ye mera matter hai aap isme dhakal(interfere) na kare

 

Mansvi is shocked to hear this and is sad and leaves w/o even saying a word

 

After she leaves arjun realizes his folly………He feels very bad about speaking like that to mansvi………he again thinks abt bhumi and how her "yaad" has made him literally go mad………

The day passes on and the next day in the beakfast table……mansvi seems to ignore arjun and he understands why and so goes to meet mansvi….

 

 

A: bhabhi……(standing on the door)

 

Mansvi turns to look and unconcernedly carries on with her work……

 

A: (approaching her) bhabhi…..

 

Mv: hmm…jaldi batao mujhe bahut kaam hai(not looking at him)

 

A: Oho!!bhabhi(turns her to face him)

 

Mv: tch!! Kya hai arjun!! Kyun pareshan kar rahe ho ……….mujhe apne matters pure karne hai………aur tum apne matters ke bare main socho……

 

A: main jaanta tha ke aap kal ke mere behaviour se pareshan hain……..bhabhi who……main kaise kahoon……….bhabhi bhavri ki wajah se…..

 

Mv: (showing interst) isiliye to arjun main keh rahi thi ki tumhe papa ko haan nahi kehna chahiye tha………

 

A: par bhabhi ………aap pehle kahiye ke aapne mujhe maaf kar diya……..

 

Mv: sirf ek shart par(crossing her arms)

 

A: mujhe apki sari shartein manzoor hai

 

Mv: to phir mujhe bhumi ka number do……..

 

A: par bhabhi ………….who to apne gaon gai hui hai

 

Mv: par gaon ka number to hai

 

A: bhabhi iski kya zaroorat hai(saying he looks at mansvi)

 

Mv: hmm!! Maafi chahiye naa….

 

A: haan

 

Mv: to number do jaldi

 

A: (sighs) theek hai……..aapse koi nahi jeet sakta……jab bhaiyya nahi jeet  paaye toh main kya cheez hoon………

 

Mv: (smiling) who to hai!! GOOD

 

Mansvi takes the number and calls her………..vasudev picks the phone

 

Mv: jee main bhumi se baat kar sakti hoon

 

V: aap koun

 

Mv: main uski friend ki bhabhi bol rahi hoon

 

V: friend ki bhabhi……..??

 

Mv: haan main(thinks for a while)priya ki bhabhi bol rahi hoon

 

V: oh namaste beta……..par bhumi to aaj subah nainital chali gayi

 

Mv: jee shukriya….uncle

 

Mansvi keeps the phone and informs arjun of bhumi being at nainital

 

Mv: arjun…please mere liye ek baar to nainital chalo wahan shayad humari koi baat ho jaaye

 

A: theek hai

 

They decide to leave the next day itself……….

 

Arjun agrees and both of them leave for nainital on pretext of  meeting mansvi's distant cousin who too lives in nainital……….

 

 

In nainital………..

 

Mansvi and arjun arrive  in nainital ………

 

Mv:  yahi bhumi ka ghar hai………(pointing bhumi's home)

 

A: hmm

 

Mv: pehle main andar jaati hoon……..uske baad tum andar aana………sab kuch plan ke mutabik(according) hi hona hai……….samjhe……

 

A: theek hai bhabhi(suppressing his eagerness to meet bhumi)

 

In bhumi's house……….

 

B: bhaiyya………chai lijiye

 

Bhumi is still depressed and sad but has put on a mask of happiness for her brother……..

 

Bhumi goes to her room and she starts looking for something………

 

 

K: thanks bhumi………(keshav is reading newspaper and in that he sees arjun's photo and is surprised and he recognizes that he had come to meet bhumi some days b4)

 

He is about to call bhumi………..the bell rings………

 

 

Mansvi goes to meet bhumi………keshav opens the door………

 

Mv: namaste!!

 

Keshav feels that he has seen this lady somewhere……….but he doesn't seem to remember…. where??

 

K: namaste!!aap

 

Mv: jee main manasvi……..main aapse hi baat karna chahti hoon……aap keshav vasudev hai naa….

 

K: (letting her come in) jee haan………please seat urself……….

 

Mv: thanx

 

K: kahiye kya baat karni thi aapko……….

 

Mv: who mujhe…….

 

Suddenly bhumi comes from inside…shouting

 

B: BHAIYYA!!!!!

 

Mansvi and keshav notice her……..

 

K: arre bhumi !! ye mansvi jee hain……..inke liye chai nashta banao……..

 

Mv: (in her mind) Oh to ye hai meri future-devrani………hmm…arjun sahi kaha tha…..yeh bilkul vaisi hai jaise arjun ne describe kiya tha……..

 

K: (looking at mansvi) ye meri behen hai……….bhumika ……..

 

Mv: bahut pyaari hai……..

 

After bhumi has left the room……..

 

Mv: who actually main aapse bhumika  ke hi bare main baat karna chahti thi………

 

K: (surprised) bhumi ke bare main??......

 

Mv: jee haan….main baaat ko jyaada ghumana nahi chahti hoon…..coming straight to the point…..main aapse aapke behen ka haath apne dever ke liye mangna chahti hoon……

 

K: (surprised) bhumi ke liye aap......par app iss tarah...aise hi...kaise main........

 

Mv: main janti hoon……..main isis tarah aapko bina bataye………..par mujhe aapki behen bahut pasand hai aur mere dever ko bhi……..

 

Bhumi listens to all these and brings the tea ……

 

Keshav is happy ……….bhumi just smiles and goes in to her room and cries………

 

K: lagta hai sharma gayi………

 

Mv: who actually mere devar aapki behen ko milna chahte hai……

 

K: theek hai aap jab chahe

 

Mv: who mere saath aaye hain……..

 

K: abhi( a bit surprised)

 

Mv: haan(smiles)

 

Mansvi phone arjun and calls him

 

Arjun arrives in moments as he was just standing outside hearing everything……even mansvi is surprised as to how come he arrived so quickly……..

 

Seeing arjun keshav recognizes……..

 

K: arre aap….Mr.Goenka……aap yahan

 

Mv: keshavjee yaheen mere devar hain..(smiling)

 

Suddenly keshav remembers who's the lady……..

 

K: aap to who……Suraj goenka ki wife…Mrs Mansvi goenka hain naa

 

Mv: (smiles) haan

 

Mv: darssal arjun aapki behen se ek baar milna chahta hai……..

 

K: sure..woh apne kamre main hai……

 

As soon as keshav gives the permission………arjun rushes to her room……without even blinking……..

 

Now keshav is bit surprised

 

K: (looking at masnvi) inhe bhumi ka kamra kaise pata hai??

 

Mv: who……uh….(then nnarates the whole story to him)

 

Arjun goes to bhumi's room and stands near the door………she knew that someone was going to come to see her as said by keshav to her………

 

 

Arjun comes inside……..she hears his footsteps………he closes the door behind him…….but she doesn't see him she since she is not facing him……….as  he proceeds……..

 

 

B: please main aapse shaadi nahi kar sakti…please yahan se chale jayen…..main aapse shaadi nahi  karna chahti(crying a bit)……..main kisi aur se pya(she suddenly stops)…

 

 

Arjun still goes near her……..bhumi is irritated ………arjun goes near her…..places his hands on her arms…… and whispers near her neck……….bhumi closes her eyes tightly……..

 

 

A: Bhavri!!

 

Bhumi opens her eyes……..shocked………she turns back……….and finds arjun standing right in front of her………

 

She feels like getting in to his arms  and just cry and cry ………..

 

 

But suddenly she remembers shefali and she stiffens and

 

 

B: yahan kyun aaye ho!!(stern)

 

 

A: (surprised) main yahan…kyun aaya hoon????

 

 

B: hmm…..

 

A: main yahan tumse kuch baat karne ke liye aaya hoon

 

B: lekin main tumse koi baat nahi karna chahti

 

A: (holds her arms tightly) lekin mujhe karni hai……..aur main tumhe tab tak kahi nahi jaane doonga jab tak tum meri puri baat nahi sun leti……….

 

B: (tries to break away her arm from him) abhi kya baat karni hai………jab karni chahiye thi tab to nahi ki……

 

A: meri baat to suno……..

 

B: (angry and tears start to flow uncontrollably)baat………kya keh na chahte ho……..yahi ki bhavri………meri shaadi hone waali hai ……….shefali……ke saath……shaadi main baraati banker zaroor aana……..(cries)

 

Arjun is hell- shocked as to how did she find out abt him and shefali………

 

A: tumhe ……shefali ..kaise…mere bare main kisne bataya

 

B: (looking at him) kisine bhi bataya ho…………..par ye sach to hai na…..aur tumne mujhse ye sab chupaya……….isisliye na kyunki tumne mujhse kabhi pyaar nahi kiya……

 

Tum to sirf mujhse badla lena chahte………….

 

 

A: (shocked) badla??????(confussed)

 

B: haan………badla……..maine us din tumhara kaanch toda aur phir tumhari insult ki thi usi baat ka badla lene ke liye ………….tumne ye sab kiya………pehle mere saath achchi tarah se pesh aaye phir uske baad jab main tumse pyaar karne lagi to mujhe chodkar mera dil dukhakar tumne apna badla pura kiya hai………….

 

 

 

Arjun is confused and is not able to understand anything………

 

 

B: main hi paagal thi jo tumhare is plan ko sacha pyaar samaaj baithi……….aur khud paagalon ki tarah tumse pyaar karne lagi………bina soche samjhe …….aur  ye sochkarke tum bhi mujhse pyaar karte ho

 

 

 

A: (holding her ) haan bhavri!!ye sach hai…main tumse bahut pyaar karta hoon……

 

 

B: to phir shefali………..

 

 

A: bhavri shefali meri mangetar hai zaroor par maine usse kabhi pyaar nahi kiya……maine tumse hi pyaar kiya aur hamesha tumse hi karoonga….

 

 

 Bhumi looks at him……

 

A: bhavri agar mera pyaar jhootha hota to main bhabhi ko lekar yaha tumhare paas kabhi nahi aata ………shaadi ki baat karne kabhi nahi aata main……

 

Bhavri listenes to him………she stays silent…….not fully convinced……

 

A: bhavri trust me……

 

When he sees that she is not fully convinced he just says……

 

Mere dil ki dhadkan ho tum ,
mere sanso ki raftar ho tum ,
mere armano ka darpan ho tum ,
aub age aur kya kahu ?
Meri jindgi ho tum

Bhumi could see the sincerity and most of all love for her in his eyes………..

 

She suddenly hugs him tightly……..and cries…….arjun too holds her tightly as if he doesn't want her to let go off her…….

They both remain like that for some moments……after that……..bhumi looks at him……

 

 

B: tumne ye baat mujhse ye baat pehle kyun nahi ki

 

 

A: bhavri!! Kyunki main tumhe khona nahin chahta tha……….bhavri mujhe laga agar main ye tab batata to tum meri baat sune bina mujhse door ho jati

 

After a moment……..

 

A: Sach to ye hai bhavri …..ki main tumse itna pyaar karne laga tha ke main tumhe khona nahi chahta tha………main tumhare bina nahi jee paa raha tha……isiliye main darr gaya tha

 

 

B: sach!

 

A: hmm…..(looks lovely in her eyes)

 

B: arjun I love you!!!!!!

 

A: me too!!!

 

They keep staring at each other …..suddenly he brings her closer and is about to kiss her…….they hear a knock on the door…….

 

It was mansvi……….

 

Mv: open the door!!

 

A: (a bit annoyed) ye bhabhi ka timing bhi na……..

 

Bhumi laughs

 

Arjun goes and opens the door……..

 

Mv: hmmm…..ye darwaza band karke kya baatein ho rahi thi…..

 

A: (a bit embarrassed) nahi bhabhi main who bhavri ko mana raha tha…….

 

Mv: (teasingly) to maan gayi who!!

 

A: haan

 

Mansvi enters in…….bhumi is a bit blushing as he was about to kiss her…….

 

Mv: (lookin at bhumi) lagta hai janaab ne madam ko bahut achchi tarah se mana liya hai……dekhona kitna sharma rrahi hai…….

 

A: (a bit stunned) erm……..erm………

 

Mv: kyaaaa……..(nearing bhumi) hmm…waise manna padega choice kafi achchi hai aapki

 

A: (excitedly) to iska matlab aapki haan hai bhabhi……(going towards her)

 

Mvv: (smiles) haan……itni pyaari devraani dega to mana thodi naa karoongi……

 

A: so sweet of you bhabhi…….(kisses her cheeks)

 

Bhumi feels shy……..

 

Mv: Bhumi………yeh janab to itna pyaar karte hain tumse ki tumse do din bhi alag nahi reh paa rahe the

 

Arjun makes a cute expression nodding his head………bhumi smiles

 

Mv: chalo madam sharmana chodkar hansi to sahi………

 

B: to phir shefali?????

 

Mv: tum uski fikar mat karo…,main hoon naa……..

 

A: haan bhavri……bhabhi main hoon naa ke shahrukh khan jaise saari problems ka solution doondh(find)kar legi………

 

Bhumi smiles……..

 

Mv: hmm…..theek hai theek hai…..ab chane ke jhad pe mat chadao……

 

A: nahi bhabhi main to sach keh raha tha

 

Mv: Achcha arjun main neeche jaati hoon tum dono jaldi aana………aur haan(looking at bhumi) yeh bilkul vaisi hi hai……..jaisi maine socha tha……..jo tumhe zindagi bhar khush rakh payegi……(she touches bhumi's chin)

 

Then leaves………..

 

Bhumi and arjun smile at each other………They hug and then go downstairs…..

 

 

Mv: achcha keshavjee hum chalte hain………..

 

B: itni jaldi

 

Mv: (looking at bhumi) haan…..arre daro mat jaldi aayenge aur tumhe hamesha ke liye le jayenge……..theek hai

 

Bhumi smiles and they leave for Mumbai………

 

Bhumi is happy and rushes to her room and blushes………
