"Kuch nahin….yunhi…."
Raj laughed out the matter but he knew that he cannot hide this things from Naina for long…..and would have to tell her…..Naina was one of the bravest soldier he had come across, and took every mission assigned to her very bravely, intelligently and enthusiastically……but somehow, when it came to his missions…..she used to get very upset!
He was posted…..on a mission….and he had to leave the town with a few days…..leaving Naina all alone…..
His heart ached, all night….as he hugged her to sleep….and as he reasoned Naina to have her glass of milk over half an hour….with Naina moaning, and yelling, and being irritation…..like a kid…..
……..he knew things were going to be change……soon…..everything….everything is going to change for him…..for Naina…..
But…..
…….what he did not know, was the telephone call Naina had received……….
"Hello"
"Colonel Sinha, speaking…."
"Captain Shekhawat, Sir"
"Ah! Naina….how are you doing? How was the wedding?"
"Really good Sir", she knew it was coming.
"You really needed that break, Captain. And your workaholic husband too…he he…ah….and now…."
"Yes Sir?"
"Now a mission awaits you…"
"Yes Sir!", she said, her voice ringing with determination and enthusiasm.
"Excellent, Capatain! Then, Tommorrow, 1100hrs, my cabin."
"Sir!"
"Good Night, Captain Naina!"
"Good Night, Sir!"
The call was disconnected in a click…..but it reconnected Naina to the world of arms….of bravery….of duty….of that proud green uniform…..the world of Raj and Naveen….the world where she truly belonged!!
She saw the same glint of pride in Rajveer's eyes, as he saw her dressing up in her deep-green army uniform….that she had seen many times…..that was her driving force….the glint that she saw as she saluted Major Nair in the Temperature Chamber during Dr.Shalini's test….as she shot the terrorist in the bus…..as she went on the rescue mission…..as she looked at him after they proved Naveen innocent….as she denied to accept Naveen guilty in the KMA hearing……as she bravely faught in the Army court for justice….as she held the 'Best Cadet' trophy with Aalekh…..as she descended the steps, looking divine in a white lahenga on their wedding day……….she saw it again….and that gave her warmth….and support….even without a word of comfort from him…..
The routine of the Shekhawat household had begun again…..cutting down a little bit on childish games, flirting, masti and the Tom & Jerry fights!
The regular high calorie breakfast had an addition of a full glass of milk with honey, to Naina's annoyance. Par apne mantor ke aage uski kahan chalti hai…..
…..he held up her nose by two fingers…closing it…..and poured in the milk as she yelled and groaned….and moaned….for mercy!
He had not told her yet…..he couldn't get enough of her smile, the sparkle of her eyes, her giggles that encourage him to tease her evermore, her wet hair, as she stepped out of the shower, which she regularly used to shower droplets of water on her gaping husband…..who used to get irritated, as by the he is all ready….
The drive to the office was quiet…..both were quiet….trying to hide their secrets.
She glanced at her watch. This was it! It was time! She wiped out the emotions of Mrs."Naina"…..and stepped into the shoes, of Captain Naina Singh Shekhawat…..
'Knock'
"Come in….", a voice called out.
She stepped in.
"Good!", there sat Colonel Sinha, Naina's superior, a father figure, who was a teacher and a guide to her!
"Good Morning Sir!"
"Aah….Naina…..sehat sudhar gayee hai…..good good….."
She smiled.
"Haan…..to ab kaam ki baat…."
Naina listened attentively, taking in the minutest of the details. She was told everything, about her mission, her job there….and was told that she was to leave the following day.
'Raj ko to ab batana padega….", she thought, seeing that she had no other alternative…'Shayad usko pata ho….", thinking as he is a senior officer now!
She walked up to her Cabin…..bidding 'G'morning's to many of her colleagues. Naina was indeed one of the most popular officers……
"Helo"
"Naina….", his voice was not normal.
"Ahh…Maj….oops…Colonel…..to ab waqt mila aapko….", she spoke to him, as she gave finishing touches to the little research work she always did before setting off on a mission, trying to sound cool, and normal.
"Naina….this is urgent. I have been assigned an important mission. I am in a hurry, so will give you the details later. I am on my way to the destination…."
It took Naina a few seconds to understand what he just said…..Raj…..on a mission….itni jaldi main?…..kahan?…..kyun?……kya ho raha hai…..?
But soon, the soldier in her made her take a grip of herself….she pushed back the emotions…..and behaved like a true soldier…..responding to the circumstances she was thrown into….
"Yes, Raj…..All the best!"
"Thanks….."
"Raj…..(her voice became soft)….Take care!"
Rajveer knew what she was going through….but that was life…..life of a soldier……they were not allowed to giving up….or quiting….
For a minute both were quiet on the phone….none spoke…..
It was almost when Naina was disconnecting the call….
"Captain….."
"Hmm….", unable to understand Rajveer's tone…..it was tender…..actually she was shaken….by it!
"I love you!"
She giggled…..
"…and you know how I hate you.…."
She herd a slight laugh….the two always found something to laugh…..something that would lift up their spirits even in the worst of the times….
….and then….both said together….
"JaiHind!"
