The morning dawned and the sunlight rushed into the big glass windows of the beautiful little honeymoon cottage of the Lake View Resort, about 35km from New Delhi.
….the story that had begun in the Annual Army Ball, and a date bet….was tenderly resting behind those closed doors….unaware….of time….of place…..complete in each other….lost in each other!
The white curtains, now unable to restrict the bright sun, now disturbed the cupid, and Naina's eyes stirred open!
….She opened her eyes and saw the beautiful lake and pleasantly realized that she was about 40kms from her 'Bliss'…..but her morning was as sweet and as happy as always!!
….she thought of the ball last night, the bet, Yudi, Caf, the beach…..and that dance…..a smile beamed on her beautiful face…..and her eyes sparkled in happiness and satisfaction!
She slowly stirred to get up….and Rajveer was also stirring….but wasn't up yet.
"Good Morning…."
"Haan…aap ho to mornings good hi hai…."
"Ab utttho Colonel…."
"Arre….abhi to subah huyee hi nahin…..so jaao biwi….tumhari bak bak to saara din chalti rehti hai…."
Naina raised her eyebrows….and smiled.
"Zyaada neend ek fauji ke liye achhi nahin…."
"Chup!!" Rajveer yawned and pulled her back to sleep….. "sooo jaao Naina…."
"Naheeeen….uttho Raj….", but Naina too was drowsy.
"Arre…so jao na yaar….waise bhi aap army walon ki tarah bol raheen hain…..waise bhi….(he smirks, but his eyes still closed….too sleepy to open them)….yeh armywale bade bore hote hain….nai?…..ab so bhi jao Naina!"
Naina, yawning herself was taken in, after giving her sleepy husband a sharp pat on his head….but as she turned to go back to sleep…..she saw the clock on the side table…….
"RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAJ…….."
Raj jumped up to sitting position, completely taken aback, and alarmed!
"Huh?? Kya??"
"Raj….8.30 baj chuke….jab humein 8.30 ko Delhi ke liye nikal jana tha…..ab utttho….."
Both got up and got dressed, and rushed to the restaurant, where they had decided to meet the rest for breakfast!
It was an open air restaurant, with tables and with individual coulorful shades….on the lake….
They were really embarrassed as they came running down….and saw Yudi and Dr.Shalini, who had almost finished their breakfast.
Both of them(Yudi and Shalini) looked up at them….Rajveer and Naina standing like a couple of culprits…..Yudi suppressed his laughter and Shalini stared at them like a strict school teacher!
"Hmmm….", She glared at them, and then glanced at her watch.
"Woh….Shalini…..hum….."
"Late ho!!", she completed Naina's sentence.
"….w0h doc…..yeh Raj na…….bathroom main itni der….pata nahin kya karta hai…."
She raised her eyebrows, ad Naina knew she was caught! Rajveer knew that Shalini will get the truth out of the somehow…..so he immediately surrendered….
"Nahin Doc….w0h kal Ball main…..yeh Naina ko dance theek se nahin aata na….to main who raat ke…usse…beach pe…kuch tips….thoda sa dance sikha raha tha….aur fir…w0h bearish….to fir…..hum…"
Naina kicked him sharply under the table…and Shalini burst out…..
"Bas bas bas bas….Colonel…..aap toh….main samaj gayee……ab chalo, dono kuch kha lo…."
"Haan, arre wah….yahan to achha breakfast hai….kha le bete Raj….warna kya pata, kal se yeh Biwi ke ande aur doodh wale naashte se kaam chalana pade…."
"What???", Yudi exclaimed.
….and Shalini explained…Raj and Naina faught….and the two finished their breakfast…Raj constantly adding butter to Naina's toast, and shifting his croissant to her plate…..trying to nullify her dieting efforts! Loads of laughter, jokes and smiles…..took the rest of the morning as the group drove back to "The Bliss"
Shalini was t return to KMA that night, and Yudi was leaving for Singapore for some business meet.
So the friends decided to relax in the cool lawns of the banglow and order pizzas for lunch.
Naina had just walked into the house for some more lemonade for the guests, when,
"…to Doc, kal se phir se BC ki naukri shuru hmm??"
"Haan, aur who bhi har saal naye cadets…..unki nayee sooch….nayee shararatein…..kabhi fascinate karta hai….aur kabhi bore karta hai…."
"Ma'm, aap phir bhi, sabki favorite hoti hain."
Shalini smiled.
'Aur Yudi, tum kab vapis aaoge?", Rajveer turned to his ex-cadet.
"Sir, w0h is waqt kehna mushkil hai, magar yahi kuch dus-bara din to lag hi jaayenge…..fir vaapis aa kar Naina ke haath ke parathe khane hain….suna hai aapne sikhaye…..', Yudi couldn't believe his own words.
"Haan…who usse parathe bahot ache lagte hain…aur banati to aise lagta jaise….urgh…chodo…banane aate nahin the….w0h bake sab kuch banana sikh gayee….par parathe? He….he…saat din ki kadi mahenat ke baad sikhe…..par jab sikh gayee hai, to ab expert ho gayee hai….", answered Rajveer, his face glowing with the same pride as he had when Naina completed Major Nair's unfair drills, and stood erect throght Shalini's tests….pride of a teacher, a mentor, a husband who loved his 'little biwi' verrrrry much!
"So we have a date sir, three of us…..main wapis aa ke parathe khaane aa raha hoon…."
"Woh Yudi…."….Rajveer's voice trailed, as the smiled vanished from his face…..and he looked down…. "….woh maine ab tak Naina ko bataya nahin…..magar….woh….mujhe kuch hi dino main….mission pe jana hai….toh tum jab vaapis aaoge, tab shayad main Delhi main nahin hounga.…"
"Par sir, aapne Naina ko kyun nahin bataya?"
"Pata hain woh badi strong hai….ek sachhi fauji hai…magar na jaane kyun, mere mission pe jaane ki baat se bahot upet ho jaati hai…..kuch batati nahin….magar…..ishiliye jab tak ho sake, yeh sab ko main usse chupata hoon…", Rajveer's eyes moistened.
But……
"Kya chupaata hoon,Raj?"
