Chapter 9
Part 7:
Angad picked the receiver buzzing in his office and the voice on other side told him something that completely tensed him.
"O god. Ok. Thanks a lot." He said and clicked down the receiver rushing to grab his coat. He walked away from the office asking one of the employees to cancel all the meetings due on the day.
A crying Kripa and a worried Prithvi, who had just returned from court together stood outside there homes seeing workers piling there stuff out in courtyard recklessly as there was no tomorrow. They were ordered to leave it today itself. Prithvi saw them throwing there stuff in there respective gardens helplessly, consoling Kripa whose head was lying on his shoulder, crying her heart out. While the old lady saw it all happening sitting in the chair outside the house. Suddenly a lorry came from nowhere and halted in front of the house. A luxurious car zoomed after it, and stopped right behind the lorry. Angad stepped out and threw a sharp glance at Kripa who's head was still resting on Prithvi's shoulder and his arms around her. Shifting his focus, he brushed past them to Kripa's home and ordered a bunch of men to pile up Kripa's furniture and stuff into lorry. He threw some money on their faces which caused them to gather her things from courtyard speedily. Kripa saw Angad and backed away from Prithvi hesitantly. For the whole time, not once did Angad come up to her, to console her. All he did was to govern the loading of her things. After he was done, he spoke something to the driver and he nodded attentively before leaving from there. Angad came up to Kripa who was standing beside Prithvi all the time not daring to ask Angad what he was upto. Angad threw a sharp glare at Prithvi and then shifting his attention to Kripa, he said sternly "I am waiting for u in the car."
Without any questions, Kripa nodded. Angad waited for Kripa in the car for about 4 minutes, before she turned up after bidding good bye to Prithvi and Mrs. Bose. Angad drove in silence not bothering to explain anything to Kripa. They halted in front of a luxurious building that somewhat looked like a motel, rather rich and classy motel actually. Angad took Kripa by arms and guided her to the motel reception. After having a few words with receptionist which ended with a peck on cheek, Angad came over to Kripa and handed her a key. Giving her directions to a room, he excused himself for some urgent work promising to return after an hour or so.
Kripa entered in the room, still doubtful, to meet the most wonderful place ever. A large room cum apartment with a huge mahogany bed in centre with beautiful cravings on its larger bed post and most fluffy mattresses ever. The floor was marble, exceptionally clean. On one corner of the room were two large dark brown sofas accompanied with a little centre table. On the other corner laid a couch, which was a beauty in itself. There was an exotic yet calming rosy aroma floating in air that gave resident height of luxurious airs. There were three more rooms attached to it, which on Kripa's exploration turned to be a little kitchen necessarily equipped, a heavenly bathroom and a storeroom where her own furniture was lying as of now. A pang of sadness ran within her. She instantly remembered her home. Inspite of all this luxuries, it was this old furniture of hers, where heart actually laid. These were her belongings and was utmost precious for her than anything else whatsoever. Besides and she couldn't afford to live in this luxury. She went to receptionist to acquire about expenses who candidly informed her that payment was done already done by Mr. Khanna. Why was Angad being so good to her all of a sudden? Nonetheless she was not going to take his pity. She returned and saw Angad leaning to her door. She led him in and closed the door.
"Why are u doing this Angad. All this luxury, u know I can't afford it. Mujhe tumhare ehsaan ki koi zaroorat nahi hai." Kripa said her hands folded.
"Oh, common Kripa. U know me well. I never pity anyone. Main kisi pe ehsaan nahin karta. Its just that I realized that I was not paying u well, I mean being ur husband, I was supposed to give u some money all these years. Which well I didn't, since u never demanded. So I just compensated by giving u a place to live. Besides u being my wife, it's my moral duty to not let u leave on streets." Angad said in a disinterested tone.
"Bow before u o saint Angad khanna. Morals…duh. Thanks. Well u don't have to worry about me. I will try to find a home and leave this place as soon as I can find one." Said Kripa sarcastically.
"Your wish." He said getting up to leave "By the way dear boss, u r invited at my house to discuss the settings I have designed for ur play. Don't worry our director is coming over too." Saying this he marched out…
