EPILOGUE
Kripa and Angad married November 12, 2005. Gemma and Kartik remarried on October 6 of the following year and Aaliya and Nikhil were wedded the same day. Farhan and Mahek married on the 12th of January and had their first child together on November 12th, coincidence right? NOT!
Some things never change, Kripa lives in the Khanna house now, seeing that she is a Khanna. Her father lives alone in the house next door as always, but Kripa is no longer intimidated by him. When he passes by, she gives him a polite smile, and she makes decent conversation when absolutely necessary. On her mother and sister's third death anniversary, Amit (Suryaban, whatever) announced his engagement to his long time friend and colleague, Arundhati Kapur. Surprising, no?
Kartik and Gemma are expecting twins. They're both girls, their names are Felicity and Ann. Kripa has been a singer for three years now, pursuing her dreams with Angad at her side. Angad, the lazy slob is now the CEO of the big shot Khanna and Associates, India's biggest textile supplier. Thought rich, the Khanna family still lives in their humble beginnings.
So this is November 12, 2007. Angad and Kripa's third wedding anniversary. Here is the scene. Kripa sits at her dining room table waiting on the phone for someone to pick up, she wears her hair down. Though it is much longer now, it is mostly the same. No artificialites done to it, she wears a flowing black dress.
"Angad!" She screams into the phone.
"What woman? God, I'm going to go deaf."
"You ARE deaf. Kitni der se phone baj raha. Uthaya kyon nahin?"
"I was busy duh. So what do you want?" He said rudely.
"Idiot! Aaj kya hai?" She stood in anger.
"Monday. The 12th. So?" He smied knowingly.
"Of what?"
"Noooovvveemmmmberrr" He said slowly, making her feel dumb. "Tho?"
She sighed into the phone. "Okay, today's Sanya's birthday. Glad you remembered. C'mon we gotta get to Mahek's place." She said sadly. He frowned over the phone, she reminded him every year. He picked Kripa up and they drove silently to Mahek's house. Angad cleared his throat. Man she must be pissed off, she's never quiet. Why couldn't I have just wished her this morning like normal people? God, I'm so dumb!
"Huh?" Kripa said.
"I didn't say anything."
"I know. You were thinking it though." She smiled, "its okay. I know you remembered. You just didn't tell me. It's like loving you; I don't have to tell you for you to know."
He smiled back. "Happy anniversary jaan." He parked the car and opened the door for her. They walked into the house. Everyone gathered around Saira as she anticipating cutting the cake. Actually, scratch that. Others were anticipating her cutting the cake, her eyes were glued to the door.
"Massi's here!!!!!!!!" She ran clung to Kripa. Kripa kissed the top of her head. "Let's go cut that cake." She moved to her ear, "And I have a secret to tell you." She smirked evilly. Angad raised an eyebrow at his wife's expression.
They cut the cake and Saira abandoned her gifts to see Kripa. "What's the secret?" She whispered.
"Not here." She dragged the nine year old to the room beside her. They had become quick friends the past few years.
"Well…" Saira asked instinctively.
"I got you that third Charlie's Angel…" She smiled so hard she thought her face would get stuck in that position, she couldn't help it.
"Nu uh." Saira gasped.
"Yu huh!" Kripa beamed.
"How do you know?" Saira unbelievingly asked.
"Feel." She put Saira's hand on her stomach.
"Ew. It moves." She jerked her hand back.
"Duh, it's a baby. Not a pillow." She sat down on the bed.
"Explains why you've been getting fat." Saira said expertly. She sat beside her.
"You told Angad?" She sounded so adult calling him Angad. She found out that he was her birth father a year ago. She was still fine with him being Angad…just Angad.
"Nope. You're the second to know."
"Who's the first?" She eyed her.
"Me." Kripa laughed.
"WHAT?!" Mahek stood at the door, "You too?! SHE knows and I don't? How horrible is that?!" Mahek was envious of her own daughter. She glared at her.
"I promised her I'd tell her first." She hugged Mahek. "I'm so excited."
"So when are we telling Angad?" Mahek said hopefully.
"Telling me what?" Angad appeared at the door.
"Nothing." Kripa panicked and clutched her stomach. Idiot! I'm not even showing yet. And I'm holding my tummy. How obvious can I get? I'm so dumb.
"Why are you holding yourself like that?" Angad tilted his head to the side.
"I'm pregnant." She blurted.
"Kripa…that's great!" He ran to her and picked her up. He twirled her around and round ecstatically.
"Angad, I'm getting dizzy."
"You're pregnant. It's your job to be dizzy. But I'll stop." He beamed. Hours later, they laid on their back, beside each other thinking.
"Can you believe we're having a baby together?" Angad marveled.
"Can you believe a couple years back the thought of that would have made us puke our stomachs out?" Kripa laughed. Angad looked indignant before consideration. He smiled.
"Things change, don't they?"
