CHAPTER 2
"Hey!"
"Huh?" replied Angad, snapping out of his entranced state.
"Are we going or not?" -Kripa
"Huh? Yeah, duh." -Angad
They left promptly and got to the parking lot of the college.
"Ugh, Angad. I don't know why we even signed up for this wack Chemistry class. Look, the sun is going down right now. By the time we get back it'll be dark."
"Whatever, I don't wanna be in this car with you either. I don't trust you."
"What? You think mein tumhari izzat pe hamla karoongi?"
"Kya pata?" He said teasingly, securingly pulling his jacket over his shoulders.
They drove for 10 minutes before they saw smoke.
"What the hell?!?!" Kripa exclaimed
"Darn, my engine just blew out!"
"WHAT?!?!"
"Okay, Let me put this in simple terms…we have khachra in our carborator."
"Huh? English please!"
"WE'RE STUCK!"
"Oh great! Stuck on this alone road. With no civilization for miles, all alone at night with…*turns her eyes toward him* You!"
"Haha. Very filmy, don't you think? Now all we need is rain and we've got ourselves a love story." Angad joked.
He loved the idea actually, spending the night with a pissed off Kripa. Sounded good to him. Sure enough as soon as he finished the sentence, it began pouring.
Kripa was getting soaked as she angrily stared at Angad, "Next time, ask for a pony. I'm going to stand over there…away from you. You struggle with your engine. I don't think your little rich butt will get anwhere but you can still try…"
"You've been staring at my butt?"
"Khanna. I am Soooooo not in the mood."
Kripa stood adjacent to the car. Angad pretended to try and fix the car, but past the hood he was admiring Kripa. He had never realized how beautiful she was. Her hair was wet, she was drenched infact, with anger sitting on the tip of her nose…but still gorgeous. Her anger was the innocent type, the type Angad knew never lasted. Her hair curled under the weight of the raindrops and her face, as always was without make-up. Her chocolate brown eyes were focused on a book, facing down but still gleaming. Her lips were full, and for some reason Angad felt the urge to kiss those luscious lips.
Angad (thinking): Wow, she's beautiful. Wonder why I never noticed. I wonder what she's thinking.
He walked toward her with a fairly serious expression which actually scared Kripa.
Kripa (thinking): Why is he coming over here? Why does he look like that?
"Umm…Angad?...Are you okay?"
"Yeah, I was just thinking…."
"What?"
"You know how I feel about you, and you feel about me?"
"We pretty much hate each other and can't stand each other's existence, why?"
"Oh yeah…Hey, who are you going to the dance with?"
"Umm…I don't know. I don't think I'm going. Why?"
"Would you be offended if I asked Tina?"
Kripa (thinking): Tina? What? Why would he go with her? She's my best friend.
Suddenly Kripa felt a pang of jealousy run through her. Why would she feel jealous? Of course, she wouldn't mind. After all, what did Angad care that she wasn't going. What? It was only the most important dance all year.
"No, I wouldn't mind," she lied, "But Tina is going with Ranjit, you know, her boyfriend?" She lied some more. Her and Angad both knew Tina and Ranjit had both broke up months ago. They had no chance of being together again either. Angad smiled to himself at her display of jealousy.
"Oh really?" He smiled, making it known to Kripa that he knew what she was doing.
"Well you know, I'll have to ask someone else then…" Kripa waited for him to say it, she was getting a bit pissed off at the delay.
"Well, maybe me and you could go."
Finally, Kripa thought. Now she would get her pleasure.
"Umm…I'll have to think about it."
There, she dropped the bomb. She had planned it very well, out of all the hatred in her heart for him…she had planned to make him wait for at least a week before she would respond. Knowing Angad that well, she knew he would wait. Him being the over-confident jerk he was he knew her answer would be yes. But it wouldn't. And the famous Angad Khanna would go to the most important dance alone.
Yes, alone.
Angad, on the other hand, had butterflies in his stomach. He was not sure what was happening, but he was sure he did not like it. Then he had a nervous impulse to do something very bad.
He gazed into her eyes. Kripa lowered her eyes quickly as his stare made her nervous. With his hand he framed her face and lifted her chin. Even Kripa was lost in his eyes. They both came closer and closer until their lips met. The warmth they had passed through their mouthes to the other one. As if the were breathing new life in their relationship, they knew they were because they both would never be the same.
PREVIEW: A ride shows up, an awkward next day, everyone finds dates for the dance, Angad and Kripa partnered for yet another project.
