Part 45

Everyone was sitting in the living room waiting for dinner. There was total silence and you could count each person's breaths.

Rishi: Rey tum yahan kaise?

Rey: Matlab?

Rishi: Mera matlab hai, tum Delhi nahi gaye?

Rey: Vo Mom and Dad out of India gaye huye hai.

Niki: Exactly! Yahan sab college khatam hone ke bahane apne parents se milne gaye hai aur humare parents hai ki hume chod ke khud ghum rahe hai.

Niki said to lighten the tension in the air.

Yuvraj: College khatam hogaya hai. Aage ke kya plan hai tum sabke?

Swayam: Chachu humari dance academy ka sapna ab pura ho raha hai.Hum sab ussi pe kaam kar rahe hai.

Yuvraj: Aur Taani tum? Business join karne ka koi irada?

Taani: Papa voh..

Naina: Aap kyu meri bachchi ke peeche pade ho? Usse business join karna hota toh ab tak kar liya hota.

Yuvraj: Mein bas mazak kar raha tha.

Rey: Taani tumne abhi tak bataya nahi?

Naina: Kya?

Rey: Yahin ki Taani ab Team D3 ki manager hai.

Swayam: That's true!

Yuvraj (to Taani): Bataya kyun nahi?

Taani: Papa vo aap humesha business join karne ki baat karte the. I didn't know aapka reaction kya hoga ispar.

Yuvraj: Pagal ho kya tum? Meine humesha tumse kaha hai ki jo tumhe pasand hai wahi kiya karo toh iss baat pe mein kaise naraaz hota?

Taani: Sorry.

Kavya: Sharon, tumhare kya plans hai?

Sharon (to herself): Right now toh mein yahan se bhaag jana chahati hoon!

Kavya: Kuch kaha?

Sharon: Nahi. I mean my plans. Bachpan se hi dancer banna tha and now I feel proud to be a part of D3.

Niki: Aunty you must see Swayam and Di dancing together. Matlab na inka pair is out of this world.

Niki completed her sentence to find Rey, Taani and Swayam facepalming while Sharon flaring in anger.

Niki: Oops. Jyada bol diya.

*Ting Tong*

Rishi: Mein toh tum sab ko batana hi bhool gaya. Humare ek business associate ko meine aaj dinner pe invite kiya tha. Lagta hai voh hi aaye hai.

Rishi went to welcome the guest followed by Yuvraj, Kavya and Naina. Sharon came to Niki with the intension of shouting and Rey and Swayam ran to stop her.

Sharon: Pagal ho gayi ho kya?

Swayam: Sharon calm down.

Sharon: But isko kya jarurat thi apna muh kholne ki?

Rey: Sharon tum jaanti ho na iska muh kabhi band nahi hota. Ignore her.

Niki: Oye hello muh band nahi hot aka kya matlab hai?

Rey: Yeh ki tumhe stupid bakbak karne ke alawa kuch nahi aata.

Niki: Yansh, shut up!

Taani: Can we please focus on one problem at a time? Aap dono jab dekho tab shuru ho jate ho.

Rey: Meine..

Taani: Stop!

Rishi: Andar aayiye. Yeh hai mera beta Swayam, aur meri bhatiji Taani.

They all looked at the person who just entered.

Sharon: Dad?

Gautam: Shar?

Sharon: Oh my God. I can't believe this! Aap toh kal aane wale the na?

Sharon went and hugged Gautam Rai Prakash, the guest at the Shekhawat's.

Rishi: Sharon aapki beti hai?

Gautam: Haan. I missed you so much bachcha.

Niki: Haan haan hume toh koi miss karta hi nahi.

Gautam: Niki?

Niki: Maanna padega Handsome, aapki yaadash bohot tez hai.

Gautam: Tumhari zabaan se tez kaha?

Rey: Uncle you're the best!

Niki: You guys are so rude.

Gautam: Nautanki! Idhar aa.

After the greetings got over, they all sat across the dining table while the dinner was served.

Gautam: Khana bohot atcha bana hai.

Niki: Di ne banaya hai.

Gautam: Really?

Rishi: Haan, hum jab ghar aaye tabhi sab bachche milke khana banarahe the.

Niki: Uncle hum bas help kar rahe the. Khana toh Di bana rahi thi.

Rey (to Niki): Shant ho ja, Sharon ka Siren mode activate hogayana to tujhe chodegi nahi voh.

Kavya: Sharon khana bohot atcha banaya hai tumne.

Sharon (awkwardly): Thank you.

Gautam: Koi khaas wajah?

Sharon: Rey ne mujhse kaha tha.

Rey: Mujhe kyu phasa rahi ho?

Kavya: Hum jabse aaye hai tabse tum sab baat ko taal rahe ho. Koi batayega?

Swayam: Mein batata hoon?

Sharon looked at him pleading no.

Swayam: Sharon tumhare dad bhi yahin hai. Isse better aur kya ho sakta hai?

Gautam: 

Rishi: Bolo.

Swayam: Sharon and I love each other. Jab hume pata chala ki aap log yahan aa rahe ho toh humne socha ki aise dinner banake saath mein baat karenge about us. But things got a little out of hand. I don't know what else to say. Mein bas itna jaanta hoon ki mein Sharon se bohot pyaar karta hoon and I want to spend rest of my life with her by my side.

There was pin drop silence. It was hard to decipher what was going on in everyone's mind.

Rey: Gautam uncle, Rishi uncle, aunty, I have got something to say too.

Taani gulped hard hearing Rey. Rey gave her a not to worry look.

Rishi: Kaho.

Rey: Mujhe nahi pata ki iss sab mein interfere karna atcha hai ya nahi, but Sharon and Swayam ka best friend hone ke naate bas itna kahunga ki agar Swayam ko koi bhi aur better kar sakti hai toh voh Sharon hai aur Swayam ek hi aisa insaan hai jo Sharon ko handle kar sakta hai. They are made for each other!

Kavya: Sharon.

Sharon: Jee?

Niki, Rey, Taani and Swayam's heads snapped at Sharon's direction when she said "Jee"

Gautam: Rey, I completely agree with you now.

Sharon (whining): Dad..

Kavya: Sharon, jab tumhare paas itna waqt tha ki tum humse baat karke hume yeh sab bata sakti thi toh kyun nahi baat ki?

Sharon: Voh aunty afternoon mein jo hua uske baad bohot awkward lag raha tha.

Rishi: Swayam?

Swayam: Haan papa?

Rishi: Itne dare huye kyun ho?

Swayam: Nahi. Voh.. bas..

Gautam: Mujhe iss rishte se koi problem nahi hai.

Everyone's eyes had a spark of happiness but still they were nervous for Swayam's parent's reaction.

Kavya looked at Rishi and nodded agreeing to something. She then looked at Sharon and spoke.

Kavya: Hume bhi iss rishte se koi problem nahi hai bas ek chotisi shart hai.

Sharon: Kya?

Kavya: Yahin ki tumhe promise karna hoga ki tum mere bete ko roz aisa swadisht khana khilaogi.

Celebrations began soon after. They all were so happy that they lost track of time. At around midnight, everyone left. Next morning they decided to have breakfast at Sharon's place on Gautam's insistence.

Gautam: Aaj mein bohot khush hoon.

Sharon: Dad please stop.

Naina: Sharon let him express his happiness. After all he's a daughter's dad!

Sharon: Matlab?

Naina: Matlab yeh ki jab apni beti ke liye koi sachcha humsafar mil jata hai toh usse jyada khushi koi bhi parent ke liye nahi ho sakti.

Naina left Sharon alone and went towards where the others were seated.

Sharon: Apne parents ko yeh khushi kab de rahi ho Taani?

Taani: Bhabhi please. Rey aur meine decide kiya hai.

Sharon: Kya?

Taani: Aapke aur bhai ke engagement ke baad hum humari baat mumma aur papa ko batayenge.

Sharon: Abhi kyun nahi? Touchwood agar aage koi problem hui toh?

Taani: Hai koi wajah and don't worry, koi problem nahi hogi.

Gautam: Sharon.

Sharon: Yeah dad?

Gautam: Tumne Rey ko bulaya nahi tha?

Sharon: Bulaya toh tha. Pata nahi late kyun ho gaya usse.

Rey: Jab mujhe Nik ke saath kahin aana ho toh mera late hona jayas hai.

Niki: Okay enough now! I'm not talking to you from now onwards.

Rey: Yeah yeah!

Everyone was sitting in the backyard garden and having breakfast.

Kavya: Aisa lag raha hai ki saalon baad hum sab saath hai.

Swayam: Ma stop being so overdramatic, kal bhi toh hum sab saath baith ke kha rahe the!

Gautam: Toh Rey tumhari life mein kaun hai?

Rey: Huh?

Gautam: Arre abh Sharon ko uska life partner mil gaya. You're next in line!

Rey: Niki abhi tak baaki hai. Iske hote huye meine agar kisi ladki se shaadi kar li toh voh next day mujhe pakka chod ke chali jayegi.

Rey very cleverly avoided the topic seeing Taani's panicked face.He had to talk to her to calm her down.

Niki: Don't look at me. I'm not talking to him. Toh mein kuch nahi kahungi.

Naina: Waise Taani..

Taani: Haan mumma?

Naina: Tumne usse invite kyun nahi kiya?

Taani: Kise?

Naina: Arre wahi jiski baate tum humesha karti rehti ho. Mujhe toh laga ki jaise Swayam ne kal sabko bataya waise tum bhi apne boyfriend se milwaogi hume.

Taani: Boyfriend? Mumma aap yeh kya?

Naina: Tumhare muh se humesha uska hi naam suna hai meine. Ab jiske bare mein itni baat karogi vo tumhara boyfriend hi hoga na?

Taani: Aap kiski baat kar rhi ho?

Naina: Shivam aur kaun?

Rey/Niki: What!

Taani: Mumma Shivam is just a good friend, he isn't my boyfriend. In fact I don't have a boyfriend, I don't have anyone in my life!

Rey's face turned pale. Not only did Taani's mom think that her daughter was in relationship with Shivam, but now Taani openly stated that she wasn't seeing anyone. This slip of tongue was going to be disastrous!
