Chapter 21

Part Twenty-One

Upon their return from Maldives, the couple headed over to Delhi, while Abhimanyu's parents welcomed them, Sheena and her friends plotted to destroy Nikita's new found happiness. However despite the fact Simiran was away for work purposes, Nikita found a way to counter Sheena's plans.

 

First Sheena tried to provoke her and see if she knew Abhimanyu's past. Nikita firmly stated that she knew his past and he knew hers. Sheena however didn't back down so easily. She began poking her nose into Nikita's family background.

 

 Ajay and Suman Modi admonished her for this and revealed that they knew Nikita's family issues and they had fully accepted her as their daughter-in-law.  Sheena refrained from further action the rest of the younger couple's stay in Delhi.

 

 Within six months of their marriage, Rahul and Muskaan tied the knot and searched for treatments for his mysterious illness. Meanwhile Riddhima and Armaan announced news of them expecting their first child. Atul and Anjali got engaged soon after.

 

Months passed and soon Riddhima was going into labor, all of Sanjeevani awaited to hear the cry of the baby. She  gave birth to  a baby girl that they named Avani.

 

As everyone  gathered to see the new addition to their " surrogate" family, Nikita felt compelled to share some news with Abhimanyu. However she did not want to minimize the importance of the new addition to their group, Avani Malik.

 

 As they walked along the water later that day, Nikita grasped Abhimanyu's hand and placed it on her stomach. He looked deeply into her eyes and he knew what she was telling him. Seven months later Nikta gave birth to twins, one boy and one girl. They named the boy Nikhil and the girl Alisha.

 

 

 The couple had now been married over two years, the romance was less because they had two young children and their careers to worry about. However they did still try to keep it alive.

 

Nikita would leave cute notes in Abhimanyu's tiffin or on the fridge if one of them had to work a different shift. He would bring her little gifts and not so little gifts. On their first anniversary he had bought her a diamond necklace, second a gold chain  to keep her rings safe from the mouths of their young children.

 

 Atul and Anjali finally got married  when the  twins were four months old. Nikita had recently started working  full time again and was also nervous about her weight and if she would look good enough for the occasion. His parents were there  and offered to babysit the twins so they could go on an outing without worrying about carrying a diaper bag.

 

Nikita appreciated her in-laws offering to babysit, but she half wished she could stay home as well. She was concerned about leaving them and she felt she looked like a whale.

 

 She wore a  teal sari with a sapphire  set. Abhimanyu sensed her rattle nerves and placed his hands on her shoulders.

 

" Nikki you look great tonight," he whispered into her ears.

 

She smiled slightly.

 

" Lekin dil ne karta ki main bacho ko ghar chor ke jao," she stated.

 

" Nikki, Anjali would be very upset if you backed out now. Also an outing will do  you some good. Don't you want to spend some time with me?," he inquired.

 

She rolled her eyes at him.

 

" Theek hai Abhi, I will come. I love you," she said.

 

He smiled at her and was glad she was his saathi and the mother of their children. They quickly finished getting ready before kissing and hugging their family good-bye.

 

 As Nikita looked back at her in-laws holding the twins and waving to them, she  truly felt she had everything she could have ever wanted,. She was lucky to get all of this. She would never let it go.
