Chapter 20

He gazed upon his beautiful wife. Earlier she was making smart comments, now she sat hugging her knees and blushing. He came to sit beside her and lifted her dupatta from the rim of her eye lids.

They gazed into each other's eyes and some time later were lost in each other.

 The next morning, Nikita awakened first. She realized it must be at least close to 10am and something could interrupt their alone time any time now. For a moment she hoped what had transpired the past few days wasn't a dream. She closed her eyes shut and hoped with all her might that she was finally with Abhimanyu forever.

She felt someone lean against her shoulder and she turned with her hair flying over his face. She flipped it back and was elated to have Abhimanyu Modi beside her. He smiled in his sleep and wrapped his arms and legs around hers. They lay like this for some time until the reverie was broken by the phone ringing.

Nikita pried herself from her husband with great difficulty and got up from the bed and went out of the room to answer it.

"Hi Nikita beta! I just wanted to inform you that your flight was in three hours," Suman stated.

 Nikita smiled brightly, she had a feeling there was another reason for this phone call.

Simiran grabbed the phone from her mother and confirmed her suspicions

" Nikita Bhabhi, who Sheena Bhabhi is planning to come to your place uninvited  around noon. Please get yourself and Bhaiya to the airport as soon as possible! She is going  to try to make you miss your flight," she insisted.

Nikita turned solemn.

" Don't worry Simi and Maaji, we'll be out of here before Sheena gets here," Nikita stated.

 She rushed into the bedroom from the hall. Abhimanyu was deep asleep in the bed. She sighed and thought of something. She would freshen up and then pour cold water on him.

Everything happened in frenzy after she poured cold water on Abhimanyu. He chased her around their home a few times before he realized it was no use. She quickly told him why they needed to hurry and off they both started to get ready.

 She put on nice teal top and white leggings. She went over and got her sindoor box. He came over and filled her maang. She flashed him a bright smile. She fingered his collar before running her hands around it to smooth it a bit.

Then they realized they needed to make sure they had everything. They packed everything.

" Do we have everything?," Abhimanyu inquired.

 Nikita double checked for their passports and  replied, "Yes let's go!"

 Abhimanyu knew their destination, Nikita didn't know where they were going. Nikita went to get coffee and some muffins while he went to get their tickets and luggage checked in.

 He arrived back and found her at a table, just starting to sip on her coffee.

"So Abhi hum kahan jare hain?"

"Yeh lo Nikki, dek lo," he replied.

She looked at the boarding passes and was surprised to see they were going to the Maldives.

" Wow Abhi, this is great, thanks!"

Abhimanyu shook his head.

" Yeah we have  great friends at home so it will be nice to come back after two weeks," he stated.

 She frowned.

" Two weeks?"

" I was thinking we could spend a few days with  my family in Delhi if you…," he trailed off.

She smiled brightly. She could play a  few tricks on Sheena for almost ruining their honeymoon. She would also get to bond with her in-laws  again.

" No, I think it will be a great idea Abhi. I'll get to know all of your cousins too," she quipped.

 He gave her an amused glance. He was pretty sure Nikita had something up her sleeve.

Soon it was time to board the flight. The couple were about to begin on their honeymoon phase of their marriage.
