Chapter 5

 There were fires burning all around. She was back in the midst or the riots. She missed being hit by the debris from the burning of vehicles and buildings. She was calling out for Abhi. Suddenly she  stumbled and fell. She looked over to see a body unrecognizable. She froze in shock. In her Perpherial vision she noticed she was bleeding but she could not move from where she was kneeling. Then her voice came to her.

" Abhi! Tum kahan ho? ," she screamed.

She looked up to the skies and then she collapsed.

 Nikki lurched awake after that dream. She looked towards her right and Abhimanyu lay there sleeping soundly. She smiled with relief and stayed sitting up for a bit just to stare at him sleeping. He looked adorable just sleeping there.

"Ab yeh mere saathi hain. Please God let us have a long time together. I have not have had a real family in so long. Let me have Abhi with me for as a long as possible," she pleaded.

 She looked towards the clock. She could still sleep another hour. She wiped her tears and went back to sleep. She slept peacefully until the alarm went off. She opened her eyes and leaned over to shut it off. Just as she did that, she felt him right against her back. He leaned over and took her hand. He kissed it as she turned to meet his gaze.

" How did you sleep last night?," he inquired.

Nikki didn't want to worry him about some dream. She assured him she had slept well and that they should get up and get ready for work. She tried to get up but he pulled her down again.

" Abhi kya karo ho?," she exclaimed.

 He laughed.

She smiled back at him, she liked seeing him happy.

" You are forgetting one thing my darling wife," he hinted.

 She blushed slightly before leaning over to kiss his forehead.

" This is the only time I can reach your forehead otherwise I wouldn't be able to give you what you wanted," she commented before getting up.

She freshened up and came outside in her bath robe.

 She started to pull clothes out of the suitcase. She hadn't had time to unpack all of her  things. She looked through everything and decided on taking a conservative blue salwar kameez. Right now she needed to be serious about her career and she need to be mature. Earlier she was just a intern working with a few patients here and there. However, now they all needed to preserve and heal the lives of many in the coming few days.

Abhimanyu stood in the doorway of the bathroom looking at her amused. Nikita realized there were some eyes in her direction and she nearly jumped to see Abhimanyu standing there. She shook her head in embrassment. It was still sinking in that she was married now. She was used to waking up alone. Now she simply smiled slightly at him as she slipped past him into the washroom to get changed.
