He hates many things in life. He hates the winter because it reminds him of the warm embraces they shared. Now, all he has left is the bottom of the bottle on the coldest days just to feel an echo of that. The sun shines even on those cold days, but he’s always freezing from the inside.
He’s holding on for dear life to all their memories because there are times during the year when he feels like he’s skating on thin ice that might break and plunge him into the dark depths of unknowing bliss.
It sucks how much he misses her.
Valentines day was the worst day of the year, only following her birthday. They made promises to stay together and stick through thick and thin. But when the going got tough, he left her adrift in the unknown. The pain still cuts him like a blade when her face flashes through his mind’s eye.
It’s too late now and all he has left are the cold holidays that remind him of his and her broken hearts.
No matter how much he tried to delete every trace of her from his phone, his walls, his life, the memories remained. The memory of her kiss stayed and replayed in his mind, bring back the taste of her. Those days, he ate a bag of her favorite chocolates, never bothering to look too deep into the reasons behind his action.
But he still hungers for her after.
Those are the hardest days. When he knows he’s in danger of going under, but he can’t help himself from letting the memories flood his mind and surround him in the warmth of her love. A shadow of the feeling was all he had left, with her a million miles away from his heart now.
It’s a personal hell of his own creation, wishing day after day he could escape and wrap himself around her, just one more time. She was right, always right, but she left cause he wronged her. He wishes he could rewind time and take it all back. He’d do it in an instant.
But she still stays gone and he’s still trapped.
