                  Chapter 6

It was about 11  in the morning when Arnav came into their   cabin, along with two ward boys . Khushi was lying and was talking with her amma about certain things when she saw her doctor, followed by two ward boys entering the cabin and walking towards the other bed. As the curtain was pulled up according to the rules , so she was able to get a clear view  of what was happening. Dr. Arnav   started checking his chart while the ward boys slowly detached the syringes , and the drippings  , making him wake up from his deep sleep.

Akash opened his eyes and saw the ward boys and he knew what was happening , yes they were finally taking him for the scan. So he again closed his eyes , letting them handle this their way.

Khushi saw the ward boys help him into a wheelchair and that's when Payal entered , breathless , as if she had just finished  running a marathon. Dr. Arnav looked at Payal;'s direction for once and then handing over the chart to her and giving few instructions to the ward boys said

"Dr. Payal will handle it , and if anything is needed or if there is any problem ,do let me know "  

Payal and the company nodded hearing his authorative voice and Khushi couldn't control herself from admiring this , strict  young and handsome doctor , who was looking even more handsome today in that white shirt of his which was giving a hidden view of its from under his white coat. The time Khushi finished her mental conversation and staring session and came out of her trance , she saw that Dr. Payal and others were gone and Arnav was walking towards her bed . This made her a bit self conscious and she wanted to atleast adjust her hair , but there was nothing  that she can do to make herself look a bit presentable , after all she cant even move or rather feel a finger of hers.

Arnav came beside her bed and greeted her mother and then turning towards her said

"Good Morning Khushi'."

Khushi smiled and said

"Good Morning Dr... Arnav..."   Taking a bit time deciding  whether to say Raizada or she can still call him Arnav...

Arnav smiled a bit seeing her   hesitation and said

"I approved it... didn't I ?"

And instantly saw her getting a bit tensed and looking at her amma , who was eyeing her with a confused look  , when Arnav said

"I mean' I approved that medicine that you took last night.."

And Khushi relieved nodded her head and Arnav continued

"So'. Khushi how s you feeling now ' and whats the condition ????"

"Woh kal raat ko medicine lene ke baad sab thik tha'. I was able to walk , typ' ummm .." [Yesterday night after taking the medicine I was ok.. I mean I was able to walk , typ'.]

"Hmmm I got it' but what about now ????"

"Par subah uthne ke baad se'.. phir wahi'. I guess dawai ka asar khatam hogaya hai'." [But from morning itself , I am back to that condition , I guess the effect of the medicine is over.]

Arnav nodded and then thought for a while and slowly took her right hand into his.

She so wanted the sensation to come back for just few minutes , so that she can feel it '. So that she can feel his perfect hands holding hers . She wanted to feel how it felt when a guy holds your hands. Nk , has hold her hands for several times , but he and Dr. Arnav were obviously different . After all Nk was her friend , her best friend and Dr. Arnav'' ummm''. He was'. He was'''.. he was after all Dr. Arnav'''''''

She looked at his face which was concentration on her hands ,  his face was stooped down so she was not able to see his eyes and his expressions so she started looking at THEIR hands. From looking at their hands , she understood  that he was pressing her palms , her fingertips to see if she can feel anything , if there was  any point where still a bit of sensation was left, but there was nothing' other than numbness.

If she would have not seen him holding her hands then she could easily belief that like Sholay's Thakur , somebody has cut her hands too. He did what he was doing for another minute, and then sighed. His face raising and he slowly keeping her hands back , beside her. HE looked at her and said

"I know.. tumhe kuch feel nahi hua'"  [I know that you didn't felt anything.]

And she wanted to say that she felt something , something not in her hands , but inside her heart , something that she doesn't know what it can be called.

Arnav took the chart from the side table and jotted down something in his clean and neat handwriting , making her wonder , how a doctor can have this good handwriting , coz as per she knew doctor's handwriting just'''.. ok let it be.. no criticizing doctors , when a handsome one is sitting infront of her.. with heat handwriting.

After finishing whatever he was writing he said

"Nurse will come in a while.. and will give you the needed medicines'. You will become normal again.. but for time being' and after an hour or so Payal will take you for certain tests ok' and yes I will come check you at night' till then take some rest." And he saying this he got up and moving towards the door , when he stopped and tu rned an d said

"The medicine will work for 5 hours ok ?"

And Khushi nodded , while he left the cabin.

As soon as he left her amma started crying and she said

"Aamma aap ro kyu rahi ho.. Dr. Arnav ne kaha na .. 5 ghante.. mai normal ho rahungi.. phir'"  [Aamma why are you crying'. Dr. Arnav told na'. I will be totally fine for 5 hours then']

"Beta sirf 5 ghante'"  [Beta only for 5 hours.]

"Aamma , yeh totally kuch na hone se toh aacha hi hai na. aur phir dr. Arnav ne kaha na.. test hoga'. Aab jakar nurse ko bula lao pls'." [Amma its better than having nothing isn't it and then Dr. Arnav told na tests will be performed now go and please call the nurse.]

And Garima nodded and went outside to call the nurse.

In the meantime Khushi decided what she will do in those 5 hours , she will take her bath and do the necessary things . then she will mail La about her Dr. Arnav, and after that will start reading some story book , love story'.. yes she will read Mills and Boons and deciding this she started waiting for her amma and the nurse.

Time started passing and after half an hour or so, Akash was brought back to his bed , Khushi looked at him for a while and then smiled at him , but he didn't react , and the ward boys made him lie down. HE lied there looking pale , almost lifeless. Khushi looked at him and felt sad , but then she knew, he was not having something as deadly as hers , and that she will ask Dr. Arnav about it when he will come for his night visit. Then she saw Payal come to her and say

"Khushi Dr. Arnav have asked me to do some tests , so are you ready for those."

Khushi nodded and Payal said

"Should I call the nurse and ask her to bring a wheelchair for you ?"

"No.. I can walk.. the medicine is having its effect " and Payal nodded , and with the help of a nurse she walked to the room , with Payal ahead of her.

It was 3 pm , when he heard a knock in his door . He mumbled a

"Come in'"

And was still looking at his laptop screen when she heard her voice

"Dr. Arnav'. The reports have arrived."

Arnav raised his head and looked at Payal and signaled her to sit.

Payal sat down , still holding the reports , there were two reports in her hand , one of Akash and another of Khushi.

Arnav saved the screen and then closing his laptop said

"Yes show me'"

 And Payal gave him Khushi's report.

Arnav read the name on the envelope and said

"Dr.Payal give me the other one'.."

"Sir.. you check Miss Gupta's first."

Arnav sighed and said

"Dr. Payal' we both know this very well that report der se dene par report change nahi ho jayega.. so let me see it."

And Payal nodded and gave him the envelope with Akash's name on it.

Arnav checked the report thoroughly and the said

"You have taken his details right'' its time to stop listening to him and call his family, ring them up and explain it'' We need to find the donor as soon as possible , I guess you know that its getting worse'."

And Payal nodded and Arnav said

"Go and call his family right now , and ask them to come as soon as possible , we need to talk with them."

Payal nodded and left the room , while Arnav opened Khushi's envelope.

He saw her reports and everything was wrong , her condition was getting worse too , and seeing the reports only he understood that the medicine he has asked her to have , will not have its effect for even 5 hours also , it will stop working after 4 hours.
