                 Chapter 5

It was next day morning , and the clock was striking 8 when she opened her eyes. She turned towards her side and saw the clock , it was showing 8 , Oh ! no' it was 8 and she instantly got up . Her hair messed up and she looking like a chicken. Yes in her white night suite and messed up hair , she was looking no less than a chicken. She slowly , and lazily got down from her bed and started walking towards the bathroom. About 20 minutes later , she came out totally fresh , dressed in a deep blue suite , she then dried her hair and tied it into a pony. Then moving towards her cupboard took out her white coat and her stetho, her mobile and car keys from her desk and started walking out of her room.

"Beta nashta toh karti jaa'" [Beta do your breakfast..]

"Maa mai hospital mein kha lungi'. I am late'" [Maa I will eat in the hospital.]

"Beta 5 min mein kuch nahi bigar jayega'" [Beta'.. 5 minutes will not harm you a lot.]

"Maa 5 min bhi late hue na toh Dr. Arnav naraz ho jayenge'" [Maa if I am even 5 mins late then also Dr. Arnav will get angry.]

"Kya Payal'. Dr. Arnav itne aache hai.. woh tujpe naraz nahi honge'" [What Payal Dr. Arnav is so good , he will not get angry with you.]

"Maa aapne unko gussa hote dekha nahi hai' aur waise bhi maa aap toh janti ho na.. ki mai intern hoon' and I have got the best doctor as my senior and so mai unko naraz nahi karna chahti and aapna internship bilkul perfectly pura karna chahti hoon'" [Maa you have not seen him getting angry'. And then you know na that I am an intern and I am really lucky to get him as my senior doctor , and so I want to complete my internship perfectly.]

"Thik hai'. Thik hai'. Tu jaa' par thik se khaa lena." [Ok Ok u go.. but do eat properly.]

"Ok ! maa bye'"

And she left for the hospital.

He had been awake for more than an hour and had already observed everything in the room , with full concentration , starting from the ceiling fans , to the windows , to the curtains , to the girl lying in the next bed. What was her name , yes it was Khushi' Oh! So that is the reason  why she is always happy. 

He remembered how rudely he had behaved with her the previous day, and how later on she had saved him from the second round of whacking from that Dr. Arnav. She was a good young girl, and he have no enemity or personal problem with her , but he cant stay happy like her , when he is just dying , but she , she looks perfectly ok! There is no problem with her , then why was she admitted here, probably she was fever or something like that. But if somebody sees him now , they will easily understand that he I ill , and why will they not after all his eyes have got a bit shrunken , and there were big dark circles surrounding them , then he was also becoming thin day by day , and if his mother sees him in this condition probably she would freak out , and his silly lower abdomen , it was paining constantly.

He tried turning towards the other side , but his pain increased and he left and lied just the same way he was lying for almost 12 hours, and then he remembered what Dr. Arnav has said few days back, what was it , yesss'' his kidneys and half of his liver was damaged , or rather quoting Dr. Arnav's words

"Akash'. Both your kidney and your liver are almost dead' and the reason for it, well you know that very well , your stupid drinking , smoking and your drug intakes . I will not give you any sympathy , as you don't deserve it , but as a doctor I need to say this very clearly , that you can only live if your kidneys and liver is transplanted'.."

That was the very day , from when he knew that he was going to die and was hating this silly , stupid Dr. Arnav for saying all those hard words too him. And later on 2 days back he even heard that no donor was even found till now'''.

From that he remembered that yesterday Dr. Payal had told him that today they will be taking him for some more scans. He thought about those painful scanning session and closed his eyes.

"Khushi !!!"

"Khushi ????"

"Bitiya ?????"

She heard her bauji's voice and slowly opened her eyes to see him standing infront of her and calling her again and again. It took her few seconds to realize where she was and then looking back to her bauji she asked

"Kya hua bauji ???" [What happened ?]

"Woh.. bitiya.. NK babua ka phone hai' mujhe laga sayad tum baat karna chaogi'"[Actually NK has called , so I thought perhaps you will like talking with him]

Khushi slowly smiled at him and nodded her head and then as she tried raising her hand , she felt nothing , as if her hands didn't exist , as if somebody have cut them out , she felt simply nothing. She slowly tried shaking her legs , but the same feeling ' there was only numbness , nothing more and she understood what was happening .

The effect of her night's medicine have ended and she was again back to her numbness , she didn't know how long she will be able to survive like this, by taking medicines , or rather how long those medicines will work for her.

But she somehow controlled herself , just the way she did all this months and then looked at her bauji and said

"Bauji aap ear plug laga denge , or phone ko loudspeaker mein de dijiye.. kyunki mai phone pakar nahi sakti'."[Bauji please put the phone either on loudspeaker or plas attach the ear plug.]

Shashi Gupta looked at his daughter with a sadness but then nodded and attached the ear plug and connecting the call , left the room to give her some privacy with her friend.

He was not willing to go , but then he knew this will make his  family , no' this will make hi Di and his Dad happy , and so he has to do it , atleast for them. He showered , got dressed into a crisp white shirt with black pants , took his coat and laptop and left for his car . While waking towards his car in the garage , he decided that he will stop there for 10 minutes , and then he will leave for hospital , telling that he was getting late. 

Deciding this he started driving and after half an hour or so he saw the large gate of the Raizada Mansion , Shantivaan was visible to him , as soon as his car reached infront of the gate , the security guard opening the gate and saluted him while he just nodded and entered the driveway of Shantivan .

After driving his SUV for another one minute, he stopped the car infront of the entrance . He spend another minute sitting inside the car and for once even thought of going back , but then took a deep breathe and got down from his car , and started walking towards he door.

He entered inside the house and almost immediately several instances came running towards him . It was like walking down the memory lane. It happens everytime he comes here , to his actual HOME . He was still standing there when he heard that sweet voice calling him

"Chote !!!!"

He wanted to believe that it was her voice , but then he knew that it was not , it was her daughter's , her Di's voice. He looked at her and saw her wearing a white and moss green contrast saree and walking towards him . He somehow faked a smile and instantly heard

"Its Ok Chote'.. you don't have to pretend."

And he nodded. Anjali came and then hugged him and he hugged her back and Anjali said

"I know its hurting you the most , but still you came'" and he just simply nodded.

"Ok !! come everybody is there.. and dad is also waiting for you'."

They separated from the hug and started walking towards the other hall and before entering there both of them opened their shoes and  then entered.

As soon as she stepped in , his eyes fell on the big framed photo of the lady , looking straight into his eyes and smiling and a slow "Maa" escaped his lips. Anjali kept her hand on his shoulder and he looked at her while she sadly nodded a No , and Arnav tried to compose himself , and then walked towards their dad.

"Dad ???"

"Arnav !!!"

And both the father and the son kept looking at eachother'. Through their eyes , their looks both comforted eachother and then all of a sudden Arnav was engulfed in a hug. Firstly he was shocked but then he hugged him back and heard his dad say

"Thanks Arnav' aaj aane ke liye.." [Thanks for coming today']

"Dad I am sorry'."

"Arnav stop saying sorry'."

"I cant dad ' I just cant'."

"It will be fine.. son' it will be fine'"

And with that both of them parted and turned towards Anjali . Anjali smiled a sad smile and joined in their hug too making it a family hug , but with an emptiness in it.

Guysss this is not fair na... I mean.. ya I know I am giving short updates.. but then see , I am updating fast also.. isnt it ????

But the thing that is making me sad.. is your less and small comments... See I am getting so less comments.. and the size of ur comments.. maximum are of 2-3 words...
