Chapter 8 - Meeting Author

Dinner time that Day, Geet was smiling all the while “I am so happy to see this girly smile on my daughter.” Rano was more than happy

“I can say, it’s someone’s effect” 

“Mumma, it’s just a day’s event I am thinking about.”

“Whatever you say. It’s the effect of marriage being fixed with Dev. Since your marriage have been fixed, i am seeing change in my daughter”

The last statement did not go well with Geet. But she could not voice her reason for change. 

“Okay i am done. Mumma please not Dev-Dev till engagement. I have other important stuff. Please”

“Okay go. You are too tired and cranky” Ranoo was confused. After Geet left Rano turned to Mohinder

“Now she was smiling all the while, who else could it be other than Dev. But got cranky when I mentioned him”

Mohinder was busy thinking of his own meeting with a new client “Ranoo, now she is ready for marriage, we are getting her engagement fixed this Saturday. Now I don’t have time to dissect the reason for her smiling. My daughter is different and not the one to be lost in her would be and keep smiling. She must have another reason.”

Mannuu entered the premise of Mansion pretty late and then was about to step on the stairs when he was intervened 

“Mannuu” strong voice of Sanjeev stopped him. Mannu stopped and closed his eyes, not due to any respect but due to hatred toward the person 

“You are wasting whole day, coming late at home” Mannu turned and with smirk came towards Sanjeev

“Home? You call this home? With you and your clan residing here, you call this home? You efficiently forget the fact of home Mr. Khurana.”

Sanjeev ignored his taunt “Why don’t you use some of your wandering time to help Dev in Business”

Maannuu was shocked “Why do I every time mistake Mr. Khurana to even ignore how shameful a person you can be. You want me to help Dev in business? Knowing who is what, still, really?” Mannu paused and then proceeded

“Well I anyways, do not expect any better from you. Why don’t you help Dev Yourself Mr. Khurana? You can’t and you know why? I will tell you. This clan of yours has drained your caliber. All you know now is hand holding them in their inefficiency and small tricks.” and he left.

He kept his bag in his room and directly went to another room, standing in front of a big beautiful portrait.

Nakul, his special man, loyal to him from heart, brought a trolly with cake and candles

“Sahab ji” He smiled at Nakul and nodded for him to come.

They set the table with cake and candles below the portrait. He lit the candles and then blew it

“Happy Birthday Maa” and he cut the cake. He fed the cake to Nakul and Nakul to him.Nakul cannot even imagine any servant can feed or be fed by Khurana residents downstairs. But his Saheb Ji was different from his childhood.

“Go distribute it among my men. I don’t want anyone with a sour mouth to even taste this cake.”

“Ok Saheb Ji” and he left

Maannu kept looking at the portrait “It was your birthday Maa, still you saw how he talked. Our feelings have no meaning to him, I know. Still I stopped to listen. Why did I feel for a second he knew why I was late, but no….” He paused and was very angry with his own self

“Why, why did I even talk to him. I hate myself when I even talk to him. He pokes me and I trigger. Why do I get weak? How low can a person be? how low?” he slid down on ground

“Bolo Na maa… Bolo na” tears rolled down his cheeks

“I am weak Maa, please give your strength” He closed his eyes to calm himself and the face of Geet came in front of him. How frank and open she was in everything. How she took his demand today, giving him peace he was looking for. And she had no hesitation in what she did.

A Smile formed on his face “You know Maa… She has that strength. I have seen her eyes. I was so weak today, I was missing you, my strength was evaporating. Was drowning in thought as to why I am doing what I am doing but then she came, as if you had sent her to me. Aur uske aate toh bas jadu hee ho gaya ” He kept thinking and then smiled and looked at portrait of his mother

“You know Maa, she took all my weakness without a complaint and gave me back my strength. We celebrated your birthday with a coffee. Just like we always did, our small little celebrations.” He stayed there for a while, gaining strength from the beautiful moment he had spent with his inspiration. He later went to his room, he had a bad urge to drown himself in drink but he could not. He had classes to take in the morning.

He then went to the other end of the mansion on the 1st floor. He had a Gym setup there. He did rigorous gyming to get all the thoughts of evening talks out. He calmed down, gather himself. Reminded himself of what he was, of what his grandfather used to tell him what he was. Today he was all alone in this world but the likes of Sanjeev Khurana cannot break him.

He was checking his notes for next day when there there was knock on the door “Bhai” he heard Anwesha’s voice

“OUT” he said without looking. “Bhai Please”

“OUTTTT” he shouted even louder “Bhai Please”

“I am not your Bhai. Go to Dev, he is your Bhai”

“Bhai.. I have always called you Bhai and Dev Bhai to him”

“Then do otherwise and leave”  

“Bhai… that minister G.K chaudhary.. his son” Mannu clutched his chair handle tightly but did not turn to face her. Anwesha knew  she will have to keep talking, Bhai won’t reciprocate

“Bhai his son has started troubling me a lot these days… It is getting tough for me to attend the music class and practice after that”

Anwesha was only artistic among all craps that stayed down floor. His artistic side correlated with her so she was one who he even listened to. They rarely talked but Anwesha knew when needed, if not for anyone else, Bhai will stand for her.

“Talk to Dev or your Dad.” 

“Dev Bhai and Dad, clearly said they cannot ruin relations with GK Chaudhary. I have to leave music class and my practice club. If I ask them for help, they will ask me to drop my music. They anyways think it’s useless”

“When is your next music class and practice” Anwesha was relieved, she knew now Bhai will take care.

“Bhai Friday, My class in 5-7 pm and then we have practice at my friends place from 8-9pm”

“Write the address of both location on note and leave” “Ji Bhai”

Next day Geet had adjusted her meetings, to attend the college. She had the schedule  and class location of Professor MSK in an email from the principal.

Geet reached the class exactly on time. The classroom was set up not for typical students but for professionals, more like a conference room. Students were not typical students but were high profile professionals like business man/ woman, researcher, economist etc. Geet liked the environment. All looked qualified and formal in dressing, it was tough to guess who was Professor MSK. But Geet liked the vibe. Then entered the not so professional looking person. Her professor, smiled formed on Geet’s face – he looked decent in his formal white and blue striped shirt, tucked in formal balck pant. But she would not expect a suit and tie from her weirdo, her professor. 

“So he is here to introduce me to professor MSK. Not bad.”

“Good Morning everyone” he looked at everyone and then stopped with a smile on Geet’s face, gave her a small quick wink which only she could see. Geet smiled and looked down “Idiot” she murmured.

“Good Morning MSK, how are you” took Geet’s attention and she looked around to verify that people around were addressing her professor.

“MSK? Professor?” Geet just kept looking at him with a blank face, he gave the smile back.

What? He was MSK? The professor was the author MSK. He has written that masterpiece. The book that she religiously follows, he is the creator of it.

“I will be back in five minutes” he looked at Geet “Take your time to settle in”

Geet was all shocked and blank. He was all the while in front of her and she could not recognize him. She remembered the first time she had seen him, drunken, unstable, how could one imagine that person can in any case be the author of a book which she so much admired. How deeply he has analyzed various business scenarios. How can it be possible,her professor? a person who could only think of talking silly to her, who made sure to take payments in terms of kisses, he is capable of doing such deep analysis and presenting it in such a comprehensive way. And with this business mind, his few thoughts were even very shrewd, how he was an artist?

The KE document that he had presented to be signed, which had impressed both her and her Dad, was just a minute piece of his vast knowledge. Ohh was it real, the author that she had been awed by his writing, liked her. He had kissed her and loved kissing her. Why the hell did he say, she will be disappointed, the author she had been looking for considered her his inspiration, what else could she ask for. Ohh she had thought so many things about how the author will be but he has surprised her with a completely unimaginable personality. The class has not started and she was dying for it to end. 

He entered after five minutes. He started with discussing a few trends and scenarios people talked about, and he stated his way to handle them. It was not the lecture at all, it was inclusive and everyone was learning from all. In all discussions her professor would just give a pointer and then discussion would diverge that side.

Geet was floored by the brilliance he held and the grip that he had in the business side. She knew that very moment, he could touch any crap business and make it a heap of diamond. Why was he working as a professor then?

Class ended and before leaving, he gave a very brief look to Geet, she smiled and he left.

Everyone dispersed and Professor has already settled in his cabin and logged into his system. There was knock on the door, he knew who it was. “Come in” she entered with smile on her face and closed the door behind

“Don’t worry, no one is allowed in my cabin” he winked. She stood in front of him and then gave him her hand. he got up and she hugged him tight

“Not a payment, not a Thankyou but a gift. I want to gift you” and she came forward and placed several pecks on his lips. he separated her with smile on his face

“Why all this today? Why you have to gift me today, why you had to knock and come today” he was smiling but he was hurt, she could see

She held her ears “Won’t ever knock. No one is allowed to come and you are upset I knocked. It’s impossible to know you”

“It is very easy to know a simple man like me. You just need to change your glasses. You didn’t answer my questions” she slid her sandals from her feet, came even closer to him, got on top of his feet, encircled her hand around his neck

“Knock was for MSK, The author. I won’t lie, I am overwhelmed to have found him and in you. I mean can never imagine it could be you” She moved further closer to him and placed soft peck on his cheek “But kiss and gift are for My Professor”

He pulled her to him, held her waist tight in his embrace and took her lips, she responded equally. In his arms and his kisses, she wanted to drown and drown. Professor never hesitated to show how he was affected by her, by her presence. 

“What gift do you have for me then?”

“Whatever you wish” “You, all of you” he looked intently into her eyes.

“Anytime before my engagement.” he looked at her with questioning look

“I will not cheat. I will tell Dev, I have been in a physical relationship before. If he will be okay with it, i will be faithful to him going further our engagement”

“This is not the Geet Handa, a rule book business woman in front of me” 

“This is Geet only for you. If i am the normal Geet Handa, i won’t be in this addiction with you” she said with smile “Just till engagement”

He pulled her and made her sit on his chair and hovered over her “Addiction doesn’t go away in a day as you are planning.  Let me warn you, plans doesn’t work on addiction”

She pulled him by his collar pressed her lips on his.
