Part 8 

IG ; sub-Inspector Pankaj , please recount the events of January 31st 2022.

Pankaj ; I was assigned a case by Daya sir , homicide of multiple individuals in an abandoned bungalow-

IG ; What did you find in the bungalow?

Pankaj; We found-

IG ; We?.

Pankaj; Yes I and sub- inspector Purvi were on the case

IG ; Continue

Pankaj ; We found the bodies of the five "influential criminals".....each of them were sprawled on the floor.....eye sockets full of blood and the eyes were missing......it seemed likely that they underwent hours of torture before they were shown mercy - I mean before they were killed

IG ; And was the case solved?

Pankaj; Not in the way you would think - but you know what happened , everyone knows , the press is outside the building as we speak , this is a media frenzy.......so why are we-

IG ; This is the mandatory official statement each officer has to give.......I thought case statements were covered in the police academy.....did you even graduate?

Pankaj; Of course I did!

IG ; Just clarifying because if my memory serves me right then weren't you the ex-spy for Chitrole?-

DGP; (warningly ) Kunal

IG ; Sorry ma'am , but you've been seeing the insubordinate behaviour I've been receiving-

ADGP; They're had a rough year and we are partially responsible for it , so don't indulge in crass behaviour , do you understand me? 

IG ; Yes sir

ADGP; Then do me a favour and humor them , please continue sub-inspector Pankaj

Pankaj ; Yes ma'am and sirs' , so we found a camcorder next to the corpses , although how the 2007 camcorder survived until 2022 is beyond me.....I mean why would anyone use a camcorder when you're having far easier alternatives......like did this guy know about the existence of smartphones?

IG ; You're losing focus

Pankaj; Sorry sir anyway we found a video and there was Varun , covered in blood and everything and he'd left a  video message "the IG is next in line " and that was it 

IG ; And what happened after that?

Pankaj; Suffice to say that by that evening , the former IG was kidnapped and I couldn't find him for three weeks......the IG didn't even have security guards in his house.....such a miser....in my opinion this should have happened a long time ago........... Anyway Daya sir lost his patience and and made Purvi the primary in this case.....

IG ; Tell me if I'm hearing this right......a senior official is kidnapped and he assigned the junior most  officer in charge of the case ?

Pankaj; Well you're underestimating Purvi......she was more than enough for this case and it's not like an honourable officer was abducted-

IG ; Thank you , you may leave now
