Chapter 15

Mehek just finished her shift at the cafe. Ajay stood at the door. Mehek looked at him and cringed. What was he doing here?

"Hi She greeted. He did not greet her back, he pulled her against him and hugged her. Mehek stood still waited for him to let go of her.

"I am sorry about before He said to her, Mehek was unsure how to react. She pulled her hair tie loose and her long hair tumbled down her back.

"I am sorry too She told him with a small smile. Ajay was one of her best friends. She had known him all her life. She wished though he had never crossed the line.

"Ajay I will never like you like that. I know its hard to hear...but... Ajay looked down at the side walk.

"Mehek, I know you love him. Even when all the chips have fallen you still love him. I see it in your eyes I see it in your every action...

Mehek closed her eyes. It was true she loved him. She loved Shaurya so much, she wished more than anything everything could go back to when they were kids and she found simple happiness in just being near him. And annoying him. Everything was so different now.

"I am sorry Mehek told him again, her eyes watered. Ajay bent down and hugged her.

"I will always be there for you Mehek. I will wait for you forever

"I don't want you to wait for me forever Ajay smiled a little sadly at her remark.

"I know Mehek He pushed her hair behind her ear, when he took a step back.

Nehal stood near Mehek looking at her drawings.

"You are really good. I would say you would get some top buyers if you did more work like this She complimented her.

"Like 100 million good? She asked her without thinking.

"100 million, well for that you could just marry some billionaire?

"So I am fighting a losing battle? Mehek said blinking. She was an idiot, what would she do? Could she run away?

1 week later.

Mehek heard a knock on her door. She was wearing a pale green salwar suit. She went to the door and opened it. Shaurya stood outside her door. He was wearing a bottle green shirt and a pair of dark blue jeans. Mehek took a step back. Why was he here?

"What are you doing here it was Sunday and Mehek had promised Nehal she would meet with her later. Shaurya walked in.

He grabbed her wrist and dragged her with him. Mehek stumbled as every step he took with his long legs were four in total for her.

"Shaurya I never even close my door where are you taking me...I need to go to work...I still have one more week Mehek said. Shaurya shoved her unceremoniously into his car after opening the door and locked the doors. He went to the driver's side and sat in.

Unlocked them and got in.

"Shaurya??

He put her seat belt on roughly and he reversed in a hurry.

Mehek was terrified, the needle of the speed meter went all the way to the end as he drove, cutting cars off and dangerously. Mehek held onto the seat for dear life and closed her eyes.

When they finally stopped. They were outside a modern mansion. Mehek blinked.

"Where are we?

He did not answer her. The gates bore the letters KHANNA MANSION. Mehek blinked, was this his house? She had not ever read anywhere about him that he owned a mansion.

He stopped the car outside the doors and, a boy took his keys from him. Shaurya came over to her side and pulled her out.

"Shaurya tell me what is going? Mehek demanded.

"My mother wants to see you He said, his eyes were blood shot. He looked like he had not slept in days. Mehek reached out to touch his cheek, he pushed her hand away.

His words hit her. Mehek missed Karuna ma so much, there was not a day that went by where she did not think of her.

"Karuna ma Mehek looked up at the house and her vision blurred on her own she walked up the steps.

Shaurya grabbed her by her waist and stopped her from moving hugging her by her waist.

"Not like that He said in her ear. He let go of her and pulled her wrist down a hall way and handed her a bag.

"Wear that He said, Mehek looked at the bag confused.

"Why?

"Do you want to meet her or not? He asked her. Mehek took the bag and followed his staff. She changed into a short knee length dark green dress. She put on the shoes and blinked. She looked 21 again, her hair had just gone longer.

Mehek knew immediately when she stepped out of the room, something was wrong. She looked up at him. He kept his arm lightly on her waist. Mehek looked up at him.

"There are some rules. Firstly you will not mention your debts, nor will you mention where you work or what you have been doing. It would kill my mother. You are the clueless rich princess to her. If you open your mouth Mehek I will kill you. My mother does not know about how your father lost everything. I always kept her away from it. He threatened her, his fingers bit into her flesh.

He opened a door, to a large room. Karuna ma sat on the bed. Her hand was injected with a drip.

"Mehek my child She said Mehek ran straight to her and hugged her. She smelled so sweet, like she always did. Mehek felt herself start to cry, Karuna ma patted her back as if she were a small baby.

"I missed you so much Mehek told her, her voice broke.

"I am so happy to see you, my sweet sweet child She said to her. Mehek let go of her and looked at her. Trying to memorize her beautiful kind eyes and smile. She looked older, her hair was laced with grey hair, but she still looked so beautiful. Mehek felt her hands lift up and wipe her eye lashes.

"You are so beautiful She said, Mehek could not stop the tears that ran down her cheeks.

"Karuna ma what happened to you? Mehek asked her, Mehek felt Shaurya's hands on her shoulders, her immediate reaction was to move away. But seeing Karuna ma smile. She froze on the spot.

"I was in a small accident but you know how Shaurya gets over excited over me She said rolling her eyes. Mehek smiled and tried to push his hands away. Karuna ma touched her hands and a frown fell over her face.

"It was not small mom, the doctor insisted that you be kept in bed...but all you wanted was your pyaari daughter. He said almost jokingly. Mehek looked up at him. His eyes were not smiling and held a distinct loathing towards her.

"I told Shaurya, for so long to find you I am so happy we finally have found you. When he told me you two decided to finally marry I was so happy She said, Mehek grew more confused. Marry? What?
