I know what are you doing Anya. Even Anya doesn't know where this is going all she knows is SK is an asshole.

Chapter 5

"That chudali Karuna ma... Mehek told Karuna ma after narrating the entire tale, who was busy cleaning the kitchen.

"Well you did show her Karuna ma said laughing. She wiped the counter and Mehek pulled the rag out of her hands and tried wiping the counter.

"Well she deserved it

"Let me do it love Karuna ma said, trying to take it away from her. Mehek winked at her.

"Let me learn, someday I will get married and have to know these things Mehek told her, making her laugh.

"Your father will only allow you to marry a really rich boy, so I doubt you will ever need to learn all, of these things Mehek bit her lip. She wanted to marry Shaurya. Shaurya probably wanted a wife that was nothing like her. Mehek looked down at her white shorts and green and white vest.

 Mehek looked up when the door opened and Shaurya came inside.

"Evening mom He said, and hugged her. Mehek smiled at him but he just looked at her plainly. He was wearing an old buttoned white shirt and a pair of jeans. Shaurya never cared much for clothes, but he was so handsome he always looked good in whatever he wore.

 "Should you not be home already? he asked her, he was right Karuna ma, was usually done before 5 every day.

"I was just telling Karuna ma about that chudail Shaurya said nothing, and pushed Karuna ma towards the door.

"Go home and rest, mom He said, Mehek smiled and placed the rag under the counter. Shaurya walked towards her.

"Lets go

"What now?

"Yes now

Mehek stood outside a deserted building, she felt cold as the temperature had dropped. She wondered where they were. Shaurya opened the doors with a bunch of keys. It was an old office building.

"You have to be here every day at 5 Shaurya muttered, Mehek stumbled into him and he caught her. He pressed a button and the lights came on. The entire building was empty and kind of creepy. She looked at him and then around.

"It's haunted here, so I suggest whenever we work, you stay on this floor He mentioned. Mehek noticed he had set up a few computers. And then noticed a smaller table and chair against the wall.

"You will stay there he said, and handed Mehek supplies of pencils and a blank sketch book.

"The story line depicts this and I want 98 sketches for level one He said, Mehek looked at the description and kind of shuddered thinking about the work to be done.

Mehek went over to the table and turned it around, so that it faced Shaurya's table.

"Who else will be working with you? She asked.

"Vicky and few other guys, and you cannot dress like this He said giving her a pointed look.

"What do you mean?

"It would distract the guys, all of you, clothes need to cover you He told her going over to his computer and turning it on.

"So everyone starts tomorrow but I was brought here early? Mehek asked kind of hopeful. He wanted to be alone with her. He rolled his eyes.

"Yes I want you to understand, that this applications development is very serious and you cannot treat it like one of your games, or tests He shuddered at the word test.

"You cannot give up half way Mehek felt guilty, she just hated studying it was not like she went out on purpose and gave up all the time.

She sat down on the table.

"Shaurya why did you say the building is haunted? Mehek asked looking around. It was kind of dingy and spooky.

"The last owner died here, He was a real pervert, well on the top floor. They say especially during the night he comes out, looking for a new girl to have an affair with, so again cover up Mehek shuddered and looked down at her clothing. She went to Shaurya's side.

"Lets go She said grabbing his hand. Shaurya rolled his eyes.

"I have work to do, and so do you go start Mehek's hands shook, her wrist was still swollen from hitting Nikita. She went and pulled her chair and placed it next to Shaurya.

Who stopped working and just stared at her.

"Mehek, I cannot have you breathing down my neck. that's why I put you there he said, pointing to the desk he had placed far away from him. Mehek pouted and did not move.

"Just for today She said, he shook his head.

"I know you, if I allowed it today, then every day you would come sit here

"Shaurya Mehek whined. He would not budge. Mehek sat down in the corner back and frowned. He was such a jerk. Mehek heard the wind outside the window and shuddered Goosebumps erupted over her skin. She hated this place.

Mehek could not draw, she shivered and continued looking out the window.

Shaurya stood up around 10 pm, and looked at her tiredly.

"Come on lets go home Mehek looked up and quickly went to his side. He half sighed as she held onto his arm as he began offing the lights.

"God you are so clingy He muttered, Mehek did not care. She just continued holding onto his arm for dear life.

The next night Mehek, felt a little more comfortable as there were a bunch of people there rather than just her. Vicky moved his table near her, but Shaurya had moved it back. Mehek sighed and tried sneaking into sitting with everyone else. But Shaurya did not allow her too, as her chattering would just cause a distraction rather than help improve the quality of the work. the rest of them all pulled all-nighters most of the nights but she was let of at 10 o clock every night. Mehek sketched everything, by the 15^th day but, knew if Shaurya knew he would have let her off and she kind of enjoyed watching him work. Mehek pretended to not be done and used her time, to draw him.

Mehek was talking to Vicky who wanted to show her all of the floors.

"No I don't want to see them She said shaking her head. Mehek was wearing a skirt that reached her knees and a pink of the shoulder blouse.

"Why not? He asked her.

"Shaurya said its haunted

Vicky started laughing.

"Is this why you wont even go to the bathroom without him?

"Yes, I don't want it to get me Mehek said shaking her head.

"There is no ghosts here Mehek Vicky revealed, Mehek raised a brow.

"How do you know?

"I will show you He showed her a website about the histories of properties. Shaurya had lied to her. Mehek shook her head and wondered why.

Mehek was in class with Ajay who was telling her about a part time job he had gotten.

"So basically what I do is pose and people paint me Mehek wanted to laugh, Ajay could never sit still.

"Mehek how is work going with the soulless jerk? Ajay asked her, Mehek bit her lip. Well for the most part he ignored her most of the time and also made sure everyone else ignored her as well.

"Shaurya is outside A girl told her, Mehek looked at Ajay confused. Why would Shaurya want to see her. Mehek straightened her light blue sundress and hair. Ajay rolled his eyes, watching her do it. She couldn't help it what if today was the day he realised he liked her. She did not want to look back at the memory looking ugly.

"What is this? He asked holding her drawing pad. Mehek blinked and wondered how on earth had he gotten it. She tried to take it from him but he held it high above her head.

"Why am I the star of all your drawings?

"Shut up Mehek cried out and tried to pull it away from him.

"Are the drawings for the project done Mehek nodded. He relaxed a little. Did he think she was just wasting her time drawing him?

"Why are you still working if you are done

"I like spending time at work She offered vaguely. She loved spending time with him.

If she could she would spend all her time with him.

"Why did you lie the building was haunted? She asked him, if he was surprised she knew he did not show it.

"Because we work nights, and since we were kids unless some place is haunted you would want to explore every floor, nook and cranny of the place. I would rather not worry about whether you got lost and just work normally

"Oh Mehek replied. She was unsure, did that mean he kind of cared about her? She wondered what was happening. Well whatever it was she was happy he wasn't chasing her away immediately. He walked towards the bin and threw he book inside.

"You shouldn't draw people that want don't want to be drawn Mehek And just like that any hope she felt left her. He was so cruel sometimes. Mehek ran to the bin and cringed at the thought of putting her hand inside. He walked away without a second look.

"What is it Mehek? Ajay asked her coming to her side, her eyes grew wide with tears.

"My sketch book She said, without thinking Ajay pushed his hand into the bin and pulled it out. Mehek wiped her eyes and hugged him.

And the month was over before she even realised it.

Mehek was at the building early and spotted Vicky, she sat with him and he told her about the game they were developing and how Shaurya had optimized it. Mehek pretended to understand, anything about Shaurya interested her, even though she was still a little angry with him.

"Mehek you know if you are ever free you should consider... Mehek did not hear the rest of what he said as Shaurya appeared wearing a suit. She gasped and walked over to him without thinking.

"You look really good She said, he had trimmed his beard and, also cut his hair.

  "I want to congratulate everyone. Cisco loves it He had went to see Cisco? Mehek and the rest of the guys just seemed a little shocked.

"But there were so many bugs... One of them pointed out.

"I sorted them out. I went out and saw Mr Mallya and everything has been sorted. We just have present the idea formally

Mehek hugged Shaurya and shouted. Because he was so tall her legs dangled in the air. And he held her by her waist. Mehek pulled back and smiled at him. For a minute, he just stared at her. He let her go and Mehek moved away and hugged Vicky then everyone else. Yet not as enthusiastically.
