ShiVi TS - Aaj Jane Ki Zid Na Karo

Part 1

It had been 6 months since Shiva - Raavi and Dev - Rishita’s wedding. Things were pretty smooth now. Raavi and Rishita were now friends. Although Rishita still had issues adjusting with certain things in the family but that was normal since she came from a different background altogether. Shiva and Raavi had mentally accepted the fact they they are now together forever and there’s no point fighting the fact. Two months into the wedding they had major showdown which took them to a conclusion that they could not fight like cats and dogs all their life. They had to do something. They decided that they will give their wedding two more months and if still this marriage affects their mental peace, they shall grow guts and announce a separation to their family. They also agreed to start of as friends from that day so it won’t seem like they didn’t give this wedding a fair chance.

It’s been four months since their showdown. None of them bought the topic up. They seemed to be okay with the thought of staying together for a lifetime. None of them confessed anything to other as well. They had been practically living as friends in a room but they were happy. They used to still fight- actually a lot but there was playfulness and not hate. 

Shiva and Raavi years back before the death of Shiva’s father were great friends. After Shiva’s father passed away he distanced himself from everyone except his family. Raavi being a part of Mami’s family lost her best friend. All her life she tried staying close to him and he pushed her away. Finally after years when Shiva wanted to be friends with her, she felt her childhood was coming back to her. Her happiness knew no bounds. They had become the Shiva - Raavi they were years back- happy, playful and caring. 

Raavi was the only girl Shiva used to talk to. As a kid, he remembered having a crush on her and imagining a life with her. However, after his father passed away he masked it all with hate and concentrated only on his family. Raavi had always been around but he felt that those feelings were temporary and now faded. Since she was the only girl in his life, he might have felt that way. How wrong was he. After getting married to her he realised it was still there. He liked her. He always did. Dare he think he didn’t want her to get married to Dev as he was in love with her. 

Both of them somewhere wanted to move ahead from friends thing. However, it was too difficult to say. What if the other person rejects? Raavi was too scared to lose Shiva’s friendship again. Shiva was too scared she didn’t find him attractive. They were stuck and had no idea how long they were going to be stuck there. 

Shiva had just returned from the store and as per his usual routine went around looking for Raavi. She was generally either in their room or in Krish’s room helping him study during this time. He found her making Krish study as his exams were going on. Every-time he saw them together - he realised such a beautiful bond they share. Something like he and Dhara Bhabhi share. Raavi looked at him and smiled. She gave Krish the notes and joined him to the kitchen for fetching food. 

“Kaafi der ho gai Aaj?” Raavi asked filling his plate

“Aaj kaafi samaan aaya tha toh sab hisaab karna tha.” Shiva replied adoring his wife 

“Muje bula liya hota. Mai hisaab mein help kar deti. Tuje itna late toh nai hota.”

“Next time yaad rakhunga” he smiled 

Shiva had his dinner in peace while Raavi was telling him about the day at Pandya house. This was their daily thing. They loved sharing their day with each other.

“Bas Krish ke ache number aa jaye. Kaafi mehnat ki hai iss baar ussne.”

“Ghadheda hai vo. Uska kuch nai hona. Tu stress mat le.”

“Aise kaise. Smart hai mera Krish. Tu Bas aisehi mat bol. Bas mehnat kam karta hoga. Iss baar uske number dekhna tu.”

Shiva smiled at Raavi getting protective about Krish.

“Theek hai. Tu keh rai hai toh theek hi hoga”

Raavi smiled at how easily he agreed. 

Everyone was asleep since it was already late. However, Shiva wanted to talk to Gombi regarding the store so he told Raavi to go first which she denied, held his hand and walked with him to Gombi and Dhara’s room. They were about to knock the door when they heard -

Shiva and Raavi saw Gombi and Dhara swaying to the song from the window. They quickly bent down to see the older couple of the house romance. Gombi Dhara were lost in each other. 10 years into their marriage- they still looked hopelessly in love! 

Shiva and Raavi looked at each other and smiled. Both had happy tears in their eyes seeing Gombi and Dhara so happy. Raavi caught Shiva’s arm and hugged it pulling Shiva close to her while watching Gombi and Dhara lost in the beautiful song. 

tum hee socho jara, kyun naa roke tumhe

jaan jaatee hai jab uthake jaate ho tum

tumko apanee kasam jaanejan, baat itanee meree maan lo

Shiva was staring at Raavi as she hadn’t realised she had pulled him so close. She was happily watching the romance. Raavi tilted her head towards Shiva to say something when she realised she pulled him so close and now their noses were touching. They did not want to pull back. It had been ages they were this close.

Shiva and Raavi suddenly felt as if these lyrics were written for them for this very moment. Shiva titled his face brushing his cheeks with hers. Raavi closed her eyes feeling Shiva so close to her.

“Raavi” Shiva called out softly 

“Hmm” Raavi replied still taking in the moment 

“Tuje yaad hai bachpan mein... Kuch aisa hi hua tha..” he looked at her

“Haa.. Kaise bhul sakti hoon” she smiled shyly

Flashback (Before Shiva’s father passed away)

Little Shiva and Raavi were playing in Pandya house when they found Shiva’s parents romancing on the song - Aaj Jane Ki Zid Na Karo. 

They both were fascinated and hence ducked down and watched them sway to the tunes. After a bit, one of the nearby vase fell down and both of them ran to the store room hand in hand and laughed at their mischief. The song continued to play

Little Shiva forwarded his hand and Little Raavi took it and both swayed to the tunes of the song trying to copy Shiva’s parents. 

“Tu mera best friend hai” Little Raavi kissed his cheek

“Tu bhi” Little Shiva kissed her cheek

kitna maasum rangin hai yeh sama

husn aur ishk kee aaj me raaj hai 

husn aur ishk kee aaj me raaj hai

kal kee kisko khabar jaanejaan, rok lo aaj kee raat ko

Back to present

Shiva and Raavi smiled at their memory. They moved from the window and Raavi started moving towards their room. 

Shiva caught her duppata and she looked back

Shiva forwarded his hand 

Raavi came back to him tears in her eyes

She took his hand they swayed to the song like the little Shiva and Raavi did years back.

aisee baate kiya naa karo, aaj jaane kee jid naa karo

Shiva and Raavi were too close and lost in each as the song ended. They forgot that they weren’t in their room. Fortunately, everyone was sleeping.
