Part 6 - ‘Vo jo adhoori si yaad baki hai’

By the time all of them had finished reading the letter, they were all in despair.

While Shivani and Mohit had seen Virat missing Sai and his hurt in the past five years Aniket had become aware of what exactly went wrong. He had never asked Sai and she had never shared.

Sai on the other hand was just sobbing.

In between her sniffles she just kept alternately looking at Aniket, Mohit and Shivani and couldn't vocalize what she was feeling. 

Virat knew Sai was nearby and that she was avoiding him. 

Why wouldn't she? 

But he also knew that she had come to meet him when he was asleep. 

She had touched him. 

And maybe… just maybe.. confessed to him…

He wanted to see her. 

He wanted to look into her eyes and apologize. 

For all his misdeeds and his family's. 

For constantly killing her spirit and pushing her to the corner. 

For asking her to mellow down and gel with his demands. 

For not trusting her. 

For doubting her.

For everything that he did which he shouldn't have.

And then, only if she wants, can she forgive him.

One last time!!!

Sai - “Mohit Bhaiya.. thank you.. ye letter dene ke liye. Par main unse abhi nahi mil sakti. Mujhe sochne ka waqt chahiye.” 

And with that, without waiting for anyone to convince her otherwise Sai ran to her home.

There as soon as she reached the private confines of her home.. Sai read the letter again and again.. and again.

Later that night Sai took a pen and paper and started pouring her thoughts.

"Mujhe nai samajh aa raha Virat sir ki main aapse kya kahu? Aaj Aaba yaha hote to mujhe shayad sahi rasta dikhate"

"Main tab bhi ye jaanti thi ki agar aapne mujhse divorce lene ka socha hai to kuch to wajah hogi aur ye bhi ki shayad vo sab aapke control ke bahar hai"

"Lekin dukh is baat ka hai ki aapne koshish hi nahi ki.. mujhse share karne ki.. aapne phir se mujhe trust nai kiya.. shayad immature hi samjha.. hamari vo dosti sirf naam bhar ki reh gai… humne ek dusre se vaada kiya tha ki ye dosti nahi todenge… aap to vaade ke bahot pakke hai na Virat sir .. phir ye vaada kaise tod diya?"

"Mujhse.. mere Aaba se kiya vaada kaise tod diya?"

"Aaj main aapse apni marzi se dur hun.. maine apne aap ko badi mushkil se sambhala hai.. main phirse bikharna nai chahti.. bahot waqt laga hai mujhe.. ab main vo Sai nai rahi.. aur na hi shayad kabhi ho paungi"

"Lekin phir bhi.. aapne jo bhi kuch kiya hai mere liye un kuch saalo main.. uske liye dil se thank you… "

"Jin Virat sir ko main jaanti thi.. vo bhi kahin kho gaye hai… agle janam shayad vo mujhe mile to khushi hogi"

"Goodbye and get well soon"

Next day she gave the letter to Aniket to pass it on.

Aai meanwhile came to know that Sai was there and insisted Mohit take her to Sai.

In the Doctors’ cafeteria 

Sai is sitting on a table and just fiddling with her spoon on the plate in front of her.. oblivious to her surroundings.

Ashwini walks up to her with Mohit and tenderly touches her cheek.

Sai .. startled at the touch, looks up. Her eyes start brimming and she hugs Ashwini at her waist.

Ashwini caresses her head and lets her have her fill.

After a while Sai leaves her and sits in front of her.

Ashwini - “Kaisi hai beta? Kitna badal gai… baal bhi kaat liye?”

Sai - “Haan Aai.. bahot kuch badal gaya meri zindagi main”

Aai - “Main jaanti hun beta aur is baar Virat ki hi galti hai.. main tujhe nai kahungi ki tu use maaf kare. Lekin Haan .. use apne kiye pe pachtawa hai.. bahot hai. Bas ek aakhri baar agar ho sake to uski baat sun le.. isse zyada main aur kuch nahi kahungi tujhse"

"Uske is vyavahar se main bhi dukhi hun.. Maine use kaha bhi ki main tujhe pressurize nahi karungi kabhi.. isliye tujhe milne bhi nahi aai kabhi.. jo bhi hua .. sahi galat mujhe nai pata… par mere bete ki vajah se meri beti mujhse hamesha ke liye dur ho gai aur uske liye main Virat ko kabhi maaf nai karungi"

"Tum decide karo.. main support karungi aur na hi koi sawal karungi"

"and thank you.. mere bete vo vapas laane ke liye.."

With that she kissed Sai's head one last time and went away.

Sai, happy with her gesture, is finally at some peace that Aai is in her corner and has not questioned her.

Virat receives the reply from Aniket and reads it. A slight twinkle is in his eyes.

"Thik hai.. agar wo nahi milna chahti to.. bas itna batao.. isi hospital main hai na? Aur mujhse mili thi na? Vo short hair wali Orthopaedic doctor meri Sai hi hai na?"

Aniket nods and Virat finally smiles.. not just with his mouth but also with his eyes.

"Jin Virat Sir ko main jaanti thi.. vo Kahin kho gaye hai".. this line has his heart and gives him renewed hope…

Virat looks up at Mohit and Aniket and smiles wholeheartedly,

"I know mujhe kya karna hai…." 

"Mujhe vo Virat banna hai jise Sai jaanti hai"

"I am going to woo my ex-wife to be my wife.. is baar uski marzi se"

------

Okay. So that's the end of this series.. I don't know whether this is FF, OS or whatever 😄😄. This is the first time I did something like this and the experience was wonderful. Now I want to write more 😃😃.

About the story.. I didn't want Virat and Sai to meet (as in awake and aware state).. not so easy for Virat. I wanted to tadpao him a bit more.

So the question now dear readers is should I take this forward?
